TEMPORARY Chemtrails Over the Country Club - Pre-Release Thread: OUT March 19th, 2021

i know it won't be, but i really wish thunder was on this album. if it were reworked a little bit and the vocals were rerecorded, it would be a gorgeous addition to the record and i honestly feel like sonically it sounds like the direction she might be taking? idk just wishful thinking :toofloppy:

btw did anyone see Interview said "Lana opens up to Jack Antonoff, her main collaborator on her sixth album"

So maybe daddy nowels is involved as well (at least i hope), or at least some othwr producer

reasons for Jack being the sole producer :

  • the album was done very quickly after NFR
  • lockdown made it harder to collab
  • as @RormanNockwell said IIRC, he's such a yes man and Lana's ego eats it up
  • her other projects (like violet) seem to point towards a Jack exclusive relationship
  • she might pull a HM and make a vanity record with a single producer
  • Rick's songs were leftover from before meeting Jack
  • California is apparently the only song from those sessions that she felt like keeping
  • now she's more comfortable with him, so fewer reasons to involve other people
  • nothing leaked so it points towards less people involved

counterpoints:

  • this album seems to be more risky
  • it supposedly goes in different directions and Jack's music doesn't seem that multi-faceted to me
  • she hinted at connecting with other artists
  • some recent posts feel like she's nostalgic of previous eras
  • she always went back to Rick after switching it up (Dan Auerbach)

no offense (im not a jack fanboy or anything) but have you heard anything else he's produced outside of Lana? he's produced wildly different sounds for Taylor Swift. if you look at Taylor's last 3 albums (all of which were collaborated heavily with jack) they each have very distinct and different sounds, so i think with lana we will definitely be getting something that sounds different than Normie! i could be wrong, since it's very possible she could get too comfortable in one sound, but over the course of almost a decade of studio albums, she has yet to make 2 records that sound alike, so I'm holding out hope for this one, as well.

yes but Jack only did a few songs on those albums! and they don't show that much variety (not a Jack hater tho) but I don't know if it's all his fault

I can't believe this website is making me sound like a Jack Antonoff groupie. I mean, honestly. It's one thing to not care for his production, it's another to make sweeping generalizations by disregarding the fact that the artists he works with are still in charge. His songs on Norman Fucking Rockwell, reputation, Melodrama, Lover, even his work with Bleachers do NOT even remotely sound the same. Lana wanted Norman to sound the way that it did, and Jack merely helped solidify her vision. Just because the songs aren't by and large loud, cinematic and bombastic, doesn't make them bad songs.

I asked Asmodeus (the demon of lust) to make Miley Cyrus suffer. I am not happy with these new developments. After Miley rips off Lana's aesthetic, she bullies Lana into changing her release date. It is infuriating.

also Lana doesn't just slap her vocals on top of a downloaded instrumental, you know how she likes to oversee each step in her album making

so if Lana pushes Jack in a certain direction, there's only so much the same producer could bring to the table

and Jack wouldn't argue with her

I fully agree and that's why I want her to work with more producers

Cuz she gets overconfident about her vision and doesn't accept easily outside inputs

Just now, Nobody said:

Both Rick and Jack are yes men, which is why Dan Auerbach >>> both

something tells me she wouldn't work with him again

maybe I'm wrong but I got the impression she felt like Dan overstepped and that he was making it more of his record than hers

I wish she would announce something so it’s not allll at once and then my brain will be overloaded. I don’t want snippets,  but I wish we had track list and album cover and fonts and maybe some pre order stuff. I feel like it’s all gonna come and be like here ya go and I’m excited but I’m gonna need time to process each thing.

Rick will always be the OG because he kind of helped establish the signature Lana sound (w/ Emile Haynie) but let’s not act like some of the production on Lust for Life wasn’t messy and boring. In My Feelings has some of the worst production I’ve ever heard sorry (and the whistling in White Mustang makes me cringe). I appreciate Jack because we kind of got to hear Lana stripped down without heavy reverb and dreamy production but I’m def hoping this album isn’t similar to NFR. Anyways they’re both great period.
