Today, I call pure country music Americana instead, and some of the artists who make it are the Brothers Comatose, Paul Cauthen, Rayland Baxter, the Secret Sisters, Brandi Carlile, Cobi, Anderson East, Parker Millsap, Frankie Lee, and Dylan Leblanc. 

 

Perhaps unfortunately, almost all of these artists are inconsistent songwriters, and, as time passes without major commercial success and recognition, they tend to abandon the instruments associated with country music and add pop elements to their songs until some of their songs/albums are pure pop--not even country pop. 

 

I loved Rayland Baxter's trip hop album, If I Were A Butterfly, his best, but it's certainly not Americana or country of any kind. 

 

So the question is, when we're talking about Lana producing a country album, what do we mean by country? What does she mean by country? The waters are further muddied by Lana comparing Video Games and Ride to country songs or saying they're essentially country songs in their structures. 

 

Time will tell when the new album is released. 

I see where you’re coming from regarding the distinction between traditional country and contemporary country pop, but I think the argument is a bit oversimplified. Country music has never been a static genre, it has always evolved through cross-pollination with other styles. What we consider “pure country” from 70 years ago was, at the time, a product of its own influences, including blues, folk, and even early jazz elements. Even in the 1950s, artists like Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves were pushing country toward a more polished, pop-influenced sound, much like how country pop functions today.

 

The idea that “real” country music is solely tied to 18th and 19th century settlers is also a bit limiting. While those influences are undeniably a foundation, country music also owes a huge debt to Black American musical traditions, such as blues and gospel which shaped its instrumentation and vocal styles. Appalachian folk music, for example, would not exist without these contributions.

 

As for modern country pop, while it certainly leans heavily on radio-friendly hooks, dismissing it as a “bastardization” of country rather than a continuation of its evolution ignores how every era of country music has been shaped by commercial and mainstream appeal. Artists like Kacey Musgraves, Orville Peck, and Sturgill Simpson blend traditional country elements with contemporary production while still maintaining lyrical depth and authenticity.

 

Lana’s understanding of country seems to align with its storytelling tradition, which has always been central to the genre, whether in classic country, outlaw country, or modern country pop. Songs like Ride and Video Games do have similarities to country storytelling, especially in their focus on longing, nostalgia, and emotional sincerity. Country is more than just a sound; it’s also about narrative and sentiment, which Lana has always excelled at.

 

Ultimately, genres shift and change, and what we define as “real” country is subjective. If Lana’s take on country ends up being more traditional, great! If it blends elements of pop, rock, or folk, that wouldn’t necessarily make it any less valid as a country project, it would just be another footmark in the genre’s ongoing evolution.

This leaker is decently reliable with the things that they say so insider info is coming from somewhere but since we have absolutely nothing rn ima choose to take what they say into consideration. They've had very few things to say about Lana the past 6 months other than small pieces here and there. 

 

They said that she is working on getting USA and Europe tour dates and festivals in order. (most likely for The Right Person Will Stay tour) but that the announcement is getting delayed for whatever reason.

They also keep saying that were gonna get new music this spring but they posted an hour ago saying "The album could debut on the day is programmed but I hear some backstage conversation that the album will be postpone to July-September." piggy backing off what they said before but it seems we still have hope it will come in May.

 

I think it makes sense that we havent gotten any news on the album because shes trying to announce more tour dates to get everyone excited for it before we get something. Also if the album gets delayed its not going to be a drastic far away date like all the overdramatica's are saying. She will deliver the album to us before the grammys deadline (hopefully).

she booked Stagecoach and Europe tour dates so it’s safe to assume she’s probably going to announce some more later. But, nobody knows, that’s why they keep saying “it’s been delayed” over and over again until it’s obvious she isn’t doing more and then they can say “plans fell through!”

i personally went through this certain users timeline from the past 6 months and yes its pattern recognition but they were right about some things. they barley gaf about Lana so its not like they are dropping all this crazy false info bc they say very minimal about her. what they said made sense to me and i still think were still gonna get this album this summer. yall acting like this album is never coming and i just think that isnt true.
