Someone should ask them about Dealer? Is it in the album or was it scrapped? If so, could they please leak it?

From the snippets I've heard, The Path sounds like a song that would be featured in an early 2000s tampon commercial with people running on a beach

Could be. I have a feeling the alb was pushed back. Like why else would the bitch even say it's a companion album to summer.

This song is the one I have the highest expectations for. I hope it doesn’t disappoint. I just love when songs have this long progression that you can get lost in

So I think I would've liked Mood Ring as lead single better, and maybe The Path and Stoned as 2nd and 3rd. Solar Power would've been a cute promo single in the release week and then the album, and maybe later another single?

I didn’t realize the song was a satire of new age coping mechanisms, and I’m glad I now do, I’ll see how I feel about it in that context. I suppose if this entire era is satire it might be her Electra heart, because it isn’t really coming across that way from the music, and I fear it will end up very misunderstood. When she announced the album and referenced the persona behind it as a girl whose “feet are bare at all times. She’s sexy, playful, feral, and free. She’s a modern girl in a deadstock bikini… Her skin is glowing, her lovers are many. I’m completely obsessed with her, and soon you will be too” it really felt like a genuine statement and I remember my boyfriend being annoyed because he always viewed her as “not” that girl, and that was what he enjoyed about her. I love the concept of satirizing the self absorbed, rich jet setter, but I feel the execution needs something darker simmering beneath the breezy music and lyrics that are just a little more sharp to make it work.
again i dont dislike any of the songs and I’m looking forward to hearing the record, these are just my thoughts
followup: mood ring is much more enjoyable with the satirical angle, though I still think unless it’s explained you won’t get it, so I wish it was more apparent to me when just listening to the track. All of the tracks work better when you consider them as being from the perspective of a goop-esque ding dong of the modern age, so she has that going for her, and I’m glad I learned this before the album comes out. I think if she was doing more promo she’d be able to get that point across more broadly.

Don't really care for Solar Polar or Stoned but Mood Ring is gorg- been listening all day. I can't stand the aesthetic of the music videos, like good for her but it's just so cheesy and weird and Midsommar-ish
Pretty excited to hear the rest of the album

I don't even dislike them or anything I think maybe part of it was just waiting so long for something so you come up with all of these expectations in your mind and then when it's something different, it's a little jarring
Tbh I felt the same way about NFR
But I haven't even heard the album yet.

We all know that if Lana did this album you’d eat it up without a second thought. It would be all ‘omg we love Lana when she does beach vibes Magnus opus bitch’.

Really? I found it quite the opposite.
In Mood Ring she sings about this wellness culture and magical thinking that our generation resorts to, trying to find direction, meaning and happiness in a confusing and sad world. Think of how so many people use astrology, horoscopes, mood rings, herbology, chakras, auras, crystals, etc. to cope with their emotions and identity. Underneath it all there's a sense of someone who feels lost and trying to latch onto all these external objects as a lifeline. I don't know about you, but myself and so many of my friends in their early 20s feel this same way. Yeah, we're grown adults, but the social dynamic has changed quite a bit and the COVID pandemic just made the plight of our generation so much more pronounced. The early 2000s is just such a fitting symbol of comforting nostalgia for a time that, in our rose-colored glasses, seems so much simpler.
She's truly coming of age as an adult and this lamenting of growing older is also reflected in Stoned at the Nail Salon. Spending time with those who raised you because you know we're all just marching to the end. It has this existential dread to it, which she just brushes off to being high. I relate to this so much, I always get super anxious when I smoke and I start feeling very sentimental despite still being so young.
I don't know if you've listened to The Path, but
Anyway, I kinda rambled on but I definitely think she's onto something with this record. I really don't think she's just "not singing about much at all". She's giving us a much needed warm hug & reminding us of what is still beautiful out there, especially after a very messy year. It's not cynical at all like some of her previous work and I love that. I know I can't articulate it that well but I hope it will become more clear as we hear the rest of the music
