Whats so fascinating to me about Grimes...

Is based on her previous releases, in my mind she was such a forward thinking intellectual, a really talented artist who was unlike any other and was passionate about making sure she had her hands in every single part of her art from the production, lyrics, video, the artwork for her covers...

Fast forward to now and her releases are literally the epitome, the amalgamation of the most generic, lifeless, uninspired production, lazily using AI just for the gimmick of it, cant even be bothered to sing your own vocals because you think its "cool" an AI is doing it, generic trite lifeless slop artwork stolen from other artists through an AI in the most boring and pandering ways: "robot anime elf girl on crazy galaxy background" prompt type shit. Like its all just awful.

And what makes it all truly for the worse is she seems to be completely oblivious of it all? She really seems to act like this is all cutting edge when it couldn't be any more on the nose and obvious. This is the type of stuff that I would tell an AI to make if somebody said to me: "Try to make the most hilariously stereotypical AI bro thing imaginable".

And listen to her talk about it. There is no faux art-forward "irony" to it. She is obsessed with this slop. Just devouring it like a pig in a trough.

Also before I get comfortable on this thread, I would like to say I'm an ex-fan who hyperfixated on her and used to listen to her music religiously last year. One day I randomly stopped listening to her and that's that . She has some pretty good songs in her discography, but looking back I was definitely blinded by my hyperfixation and now I'm realizing how questionable some of the songs are

A deity that deserves more recognition. She has already released a mixtape and 4 albums with the recent one being "Phoenix: Flames Are Dew Upon My Skin." She is a multi instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, producer and COMPOSER. AN ICON. She is also a performance artist and a film-maker. Her music has elements of art pop, electronic, experimental and folk music. Kind of folk-ish Bjork. Give her a listen you guys!!!

Ok, so the core problem about ADIAML is that everything - the singles, the visuals, it's (allegedly) overall topic - SCREAMS motion, exciting production, fast tracks, lyrics about sociopolitics. But then halfway through, it just turns into a bunch of "the usual Marina business" ballads about breakups and self-acceptance. It's not that the songs are bad, it's just that they feel out of place on an album that put all of it's focus on 5 tracks that are not representative of the experience you get when listening to it. And now she's doubling down on that with the deluxe tracks.
Happy Loner is a cute song, but it's basically Solitaire 2.0. with more on-the-nose-lyrics and does nothing to compliment the album. It's just another (solid) track for the long-tail. Kinda disappointing.
Apart from that - were her "relateable" lyrics always that cringy? I'm not sure whether her songwriting changed or if it's just about me not being in my teens anymore but edgy-tkes like "Waking up late, I feel demotivated, everything's wrong, guess my thoughts escalated. When I'm alone, things are under control, when I'm alone, I can turn off the world. I try to escape, but I can't lose my mind-  that's why I can live a cOnVenTiOnAl LiFe" or "They don't understand, why I like being alone. I don't wanna be so accessible, emotionally I'm on the edge of a knife. That's how I learn, that's how I learn to SURVIVE!!11!1!"  are just so f*cking pretentious and cringeworthy.
It's the song equivalent to people who constantly share "introverts are like this"-memes on social media, acting like preferring to stay inside and read instead of going to a party makes them some sort of special, unique and mysterious person.

I really hope she doesn't come up with songs that uses the "hit formula" of 2 min. duration that's only to gain streams and tiktok hits... The B****y was enough

Yeah, like, we know how Melanie is when announcing dates of her releases... Her debut EP was supposed to be released in the summer of 2013, but she scrapped it then replaced by Dollhouse releasing in May 2014. Cry Baby was supposed to be released in August 2014, but then was released one year later. K-12 was supposed to be released in 2018 but then released in 2019. After School was supposed to be released in February 2020 but then released in September... so idk if i belive in that.
Tbh let's just pray that she will release the film + album at least in late 2022 or early 2023.

if i didn't like dealer i would atleast like it because it's a controversial track like venice bitch. people are very torn between loving it or hating it and honestly that's one of the greatest things you can have on a song, imo

I love Tove Lo, but this is true, all her albums to me (except the last one which I love almost all the songs) feel like a bunch of great songs with some fillers.

I wanted her so hard on a song or a remix, but this ain't it.
