Kintsugi might take the #1 spot as my favourite lana song ever.

I cry every single time I listen to the track. It says all the things I could never put into words and the meaning behind it is just so beautiful. Our hearts will break but that’s how the light gets in to make us full again.

My dad just enthusiastically sent me a voicemail of a track he heard on the radio he was sure I would love as it is "very Lana"

    It was Candy Necklace

Though I can see how the last three tracks sound like bonus tracks and it can make perfect sense to end the album at Margaret, I think the album is perfect as is. The last three tracks add a lot of dynamism to the album. I think it would’ve been too heavy of an album without them even though Margaret is a cute happy ending. Also, having the last three songs feels like the album more strongly ties into A&W which seems like the defining song on the album. The album before Margaret feels like the first half of A&W while the last three tracks feel like the second half. I wouldn’t like the album as much without the last three tracks.

    Wow. I can't believe Fantano gave her a -
She really fucking deserves it. I don't agree with Fantano on a lot (the Ultraviolence review baffles me to this day), but to see that after 9 albums into her career she's just getting better and better according to critics?? That's incredibly rare. I hope people know that she has cemented herself into the American singer-songwriters forever. Born To Die was lightning in a bottle, but to continue to make record after great record, when many other artists peak... she's rare. So proud of her

There's a certain point the body can't come back from
In one year, we've learned the turn of the mouth
The depth that the chest cavity takes
Chucky was there for three out of three
I was there for the third 'cause I couldn't be
There for the one who was closest to me
But I can't say I run when things get hard
It's just that I don't trust myself with my heart
But I've had to let it break a little more
'Cause they say that's what it's for

And I just can't stop cryin' 'cause all of the ways
    When you see someone dyin'
You see all your days flash in front of you
And you think about who would be with you
    And then there's Donoghue

    Daddy, I miss them
    I'm in the mountains
I'm probably runnin' away from the feelings I get
When I think all the things about them
    Daddy, I miss them
    I'm at the Roadrunner Café
I'm probably runnin' away from the thoughts in the day

I see NeedleFlop still trash talks her early career even in a positive review. He really can’t help himself.

    A 9/10 though, we won

He even didn’t hate Peppers, which i was convinced he would despise. I’ll forgive the slander this time.

    A few interesting things:

    About A&W :
    - she sent an acapella version to Jack but he hadn't read the email so it sat there for 7 months,
    - Jack suggessted to add the Jimmy Jimmy Coacoa Puff part but she had it in mind since her relationship with Barrie-James,
    - she wasn't sure about releasing it as a single at first but her 11 girlfriends told her they loved it lol

Let the Light In is probably never going to touch my Top 5 on this album (too much competition), but I absolutely LOVE her placement within the album. The song just feels so good when it appears after such an emotionally heavy stretch. I adore it.

I was thinking this morning while listening to it, that maybe she removed the word mother as a further diss! Imagine, not even referring to her as a mother. I actually think that's the reason.  Lana won't even call her 'mother' anymore. In which case, I love the removal even more as it's more powerful.

I just kinda wish Jon Batiste was the main producer of this album rather than Jack. Lana wanted this album to be piano-driven and Jon could have done wonders if he was on other tracks too. I think like that because of his production and piano skills on Candy Necklace and Interlude. He put so much depth and richness to these songs than Jack did.
I want to see him on the producer seat of at least half of the LDRX songs so bad

i hope lana and jon batiste keep working together, candy necklace is most definitely a new all-time favorite of mine, i hope the next album sounds like that, haunting, meditative, sardonic, harrowing, introspective, abstract, yet bright

There is such catharsis in having VB at the end of the record. Like slipping into an end credits layer of reality, a mindless haze after the hero’s arc of the rest of the album. It feels like an altered state, which the album plays with a lot - at the end of A&W and peppers with the sort of drugged up transitions, Candy necklaces as the bad trip, both interludes. And that notion of the altered state hits harder when you consider the last words spoken in the transition from Taco Truck to VB are Lana trying and failing to recount a dream… and then she just gives way to it. It’s either an ultimate escape or something more sinister (the same way the second half of A&W could be)
