I can already tell that the next pre-album timeline I'll make is gonna be long and chaotic.

Hey all, just wanted to give you guys a little update on what will be happening with this thread!
As you can see, our page count has increased significantly.
I'm sure you all know that there was a little mishap with our Chemtrails Over the Country Club Pre-Release Thread a week ago, where a mod accidentally merged it with our Lana Discussion Thread.
Our mod team has been hard at work manually going through the 4400 page Frankenstein Thread to move the posts back into their respective threads. Within the past week, our team has been able to separate 932 out of the 4000 pages back into the Chemtrails Thread, and those pages have now been merged back into this one. We decided it was in best interest to move what we have completed thus far into our Temporary Thread now as Chemtrails will be released later tonight, and that way users can find some of their album reaction posts that they may like to copy into our Post-Release Thread once it's created. Of course, we still have ~3500 pages more to sort through, but some is better than nothing for right now. Even after this Pre-Release Thread is locked and the Post-Release Thread is created, we will continue separating posts so that way our COTCC Pre-Release Thread will finally be able to redeem itself in all its glory, along with our Random Lana Discussion Thread.
That being said, I'd like to announce to you all that the Chemtrails Over the Country Club - Post-Release Thread will be arriving to you all at MIDNIGHT EDT (about 18 hours from now.) Furthermore, as talked about in Lana's recent interview with MusicWeek, there is indication that another album is in the works, so therefore a LDR8 Pre-Pre-Release Thread will also be created at midnight EDT. Additionally, the remaining COTCC lyric threads will also be created at midnight EDT.
So please enjoy your final hours of the COTCC Pre-Release, and I look forward to beginning the Post-Release Era with you all later tonight!
    Sending all my love!

    xx

ok so this is a little random but i was re-reading this thread and it was bringing back my own memories of discovering lana
so it was the fall of 2014, I was 11 and in 6th grade (just to make everyone on here feel older than you should) and I would ride the bus home. I didnt have any close friends on my bus route so I spent the 45 minute ride home gazing out the window and listening to music. since I had recently gotten an Iphone 5c with an itunes radio account that I shared with my older sister I was privy to all of her music choices, which among other artists like marina and the arctic monkeys included lana
I still remember the first song i played being radio and just having my little 11 year old mind blown away by it all and those bus rides were spent listening to lana from that point on.
I used to get bullied a lot by the other boys on the bus because I wasnt athletic and because by that point it was pretty easy to tell that im gay, but id turn up the music and listen to this album (and ultraviolence the hot new girl on the block at the time) and drown out all the background noise.
Its been years now and im set to graduate high school in June but ill never forget the first time i heard this album, and the journey it has lead me on since then. I truly truly love her music and it holds such a special place in my heart.

NFR feels so sad ..also the production is very firm?? Like very less room to breathe...

This album has a very flexible production. Like free and loose to do its thing. It feels like its alive???. .. I mean NFR felt hopeless and lost and you just wanted to die listening to it..
This album is like dropping w melancholy but there is also hope. You accept this is how life is. And you're ok w it.

Nfr was my fav album. Now dethroned by Chem.

It's so wild how much impact this album has had on so many people. It hasn't aged a day for me tbh. I don't consider this the best Lana album, or even my fav, but it's the one I find myself listening to a Lot. It has so much replay value for me. It's like comfort music. Whenever I rank my fav Lana albums I got no clue where to put Born to Die, it's just special, it has this energy that can't be recreated imo.

the way this entire album is still doing incredibly well commercially along with inspiring a whole new generation of artists while cementing itself into the pop cultural landscape proves how before it’s time this album was. BTD could be released today and people still wouldn’t know what to make of it and that is a feat few other albums can accomplish. the dark themes of self loathing, dependence, and fragility paired with the strange yet perfect combination of grand strings and hip hop beats and nostalgic imagery was a perfect re-attempt at a debut album. AKA allowed Lana to realize what it would take to make people notice her and DAMN did she do it well with this project. this album is one of the most influential albums in pop culture history and these past 9 years have proven its worth. ill love BTD till the day i die and can already envision myself blaring it to my future kids in 20 years. and the way its the most sold vinyl released in the 2010s - she really brought a whole music format back into style her power

Happy birthday to the album that started it all! The way this is one of the most influential pop albums of the 2010s. A trailblazer record that was not exactly rightfully appreciated upon its release, but people have come to their senses over the years. Iconic.

When I first played it in full, sometime in the summer of 2012, from the first notes of the strings, I knew I'd be into something grand and unforgettable. Incredibly thankful for the memories this album has gave me.

PS: 'Off to The Races' is one of the greatest pop songs ever released and 'Radio' is severely underrated.

I'll kick us off with a BtD song ranking
    Radio
    Off To The Races
    Without You
    National Anthem
    Born To Die
    Million Dollar Man
    Video Games
    Summertime Sadness
    Diet Mountain Dew
    Dark Paradise
    Blue Jeans
    Carmen
    Lolita
This Is What Makes Us Girls
    Lucky Ones

I'm also pretty strongly of the opinion that the demos are overall better than the final versions    I might do a demo ranking later

I like TOW more than I like old money. It always felt like a great gatsby/Y&B demo or something to me. Didn’t fit the record imo, but it’s a pretty song for sure.

I know people like to shit on FMWUTTT but I actually think MPG is the least fitting and worst on this album. It just reeks of BTD that they put a guitar solo over and muffled the beats a little bit to make it sound grungy.

and the chorus gets sooo tiring
