I feel like I’d be too awkward to actually ask anything, but here are some questions I think would be cool to know the answers to:

-“Is there a genre of music you’ve always wanted to try on a record but never have?”

-“How do you decide when an album is finished and ready to be shared?”

-“Is Mike Dean involved in your next record?”

-“Did you expect more experimental songs like Dealer and White Dress to have such a positive reception among critics and fans?”

-“Does the ‘DNC’ on your jacket mean anything?”

I always thought they say her music sounds the same because of the vocals and or the slower pace of the songs. But I feel like Lana has been making an effort to switch up her vocal style with the last two albums specifically on White Dress, Beautiful, BBS, Dealer.

“hiiiii. ummmm. i’m a big fan of you and your work. do you remember a song you recorded for your lust for life record that was left on the cutting board named ‘Roses Bloom For You’?” & “Would you ever consider utilizing your soundcloud account to upload poems and songs that don’t have homes, just for the fans?”

Why she pays so much of Honeymoon dust and why she felt so uncertain about Chemtrails
  5. Baby Ruth liked a post in a topic by Vanilla Icy in If lana invited you on her live what would you ask?
i’d probably ask why hasn’t she released aka then she’d laugh and be like “that’s a great question.. i’ve been wondering that myself.”

She would answer: "It’s still breating" or "It’s still exist in my mind"

all my questions (besides re: original LFL) are about her unreleased songs and i'd be kinda VERY terrified of bringing up the fact that i've listened to like nearly every leaked unreleased song of hers so what's a girl 2 do??
  10. Baby Ruth liked a post in a topic by palemoonbaby in If lana invited you on her live what would you ask?
Never happen cause she's doing lives when I'm sleeping but if it happened...
-How she's dealing with hate, negative comments, things like e.g. bodyshaming, accusations etc. (I'm curious of her pov)?
-What Cherry MV was supposed/planned to look?
-Original LFL, which vibe and sound had, scrapped tracklist infos and new trivia we don't know
-Lanaboards- if she knows it existing, she has account?

Nothing more comes to my head now but I know I'd tell Lana to greet from me Nico and Topanga too

i’m like rehearsing what to do in the situation, but if it actually happens i’ll probably start crying and just screaming i love you lana

Personally I would ask her about the original lust for life tracklist, malibu and if she'll every re-release aka

At this point, the real question is: which one of her numerous projects will we hear first? The cover album? The Nikki collabs? Covers and country songs together like she considered in her livestream? New stuff with the DNC song?

I’m not too preferential either way when it comes to a hiatus length, but I do hope LDR9 feels like stepping into a completely new body of work.

Even though I (initially) missed the more “cinematic” production, NFR’s novelty did an amazing job at really immersing me in the essence of the record.

Even if Lana settles into a more stripped, singer-songwriter soundscape, I hope there are some elements in LDR9 that really distinguish it from her past works.

With NFR, I feel like the heavy emphasis on the mellotron and almost whistling synths really gave the record a unique, defining sound, and I’m hoping for something similar with LDR9!

i definitely think ldr9 could be similar to lust for life, possibly the "og lust for life" sound of lust for life (demo 1), heroin, yosemite, serene queen, valley of the dolls, & if i die young, since she's been very introspective lately, i think mike dean could further develop this sound with synths & hip-hop beats!   i can definitely see this album being a "return to form" which is reminiscent of honeymoon, lust for life, & even born to die!

But wow, what a moment most pleasing to me. Definitely my favorite 1-2-3 punch i fear? Sorry, SOC/Brooklyn Baby/West Coast.

i can see that but in every single song? she used it in white dress and watercolor eyes, other than that it's just her normal high register. also when people say they miss her lower register i'm like have you heard wfwf? violets for roses?

This thread is obviously just for fun.

    1. PRE-HISTORIC PERIOD, MMV—MMX
Early experiments and drafts. Some ideas were taken and/or perfected afterwards. Themes of love, innocence and loneliness.
Notable works: "Yayo", "Pawn Shop Blues", "Kill Kill", among others.

    1. Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzy Grant

Simple, bright compositions, focused on mood and melody rather than words.
Recurrent colors: yellow, orange, white and black.

    2. CLASSICAL PERIOD, MMXI—MMXV
The original Lana Del Rey sound. Known for its emphasis on visuals, aesthetics and vocals. Image often more important than meaning. Themes of doomed love, drugs, mystery, desire, status, sadness and death.
Notable works: "Video Games", "Born to Die", "Summertime Sadness", "Blue Jeans", "Young and Beautiful", "Ride", "West Coast", among others.

    a. Baroque Era

    1. Born to Die
    2. Paradise

"The Baroque style is characterized by exaggerated motion and clear detail used to produce drama, exuberance, and grandeur. Baroque iconography was direct, obvious, and dramatic, intending to appeal above all to the senses and the emotions."
Recurrent colors: blue, red, white and gold.

    b. Romantic Era

    1. Ultraviolence

"Individualistic, emotional and dramatic; A turn towards the mystic; a focus on the nocturnal, ghostly and terrifying; discontent with formulas and conventions; the use of new or previously not so common structures; a greater tonal range."
Recurrent colors: black, grey, white and red.

    3. MODERN PERIOD, MMXV—MMXVII
Also known as the Retrofuturism era.
A shift towards the latest sounds and visuals. Known for mixing the old and new, inclusion of different collaborators, abstract concepts and synthetic production. Themes of self-discovery, escapism, the future and the world.
Notable works: "Love", "Cherry", "High By The Beach", "Get Free", among others.

"Diverse reactions in challenging and reinterpreting older categories of music, innovations that led to new ways of organizing and approaching harmonic, melodic, sonic, and rhythmic aspects of music, and changes in aesthetic worldviews [...] Its leading feature is a 'linguistic plurality', which is to say that no one music genre ever assumed a dominant position."

    a. Early Retrofuturism / Minimalism

    1. Honeymoon

Total emphasis on voice. Abstract ideas. Older sounds from the Baroque Era subtly mixed with newer trends.
Recurrent colors: light blue, red, lilac and green.

    b. Retrofuturism

    1. Lust for Life

"Retrofuturism may be summarized as the future as seen from the past and the past as seen from the future." Continuation of the previous sound but more emphasis on new-fashioned production. Subtle political discourse.
Recurrent colors: red, white, blue and green.

    4. CONTEMPORARY PERIOD,  MMVXIII—present
Also known as the Singer-Songwriter Era.
The new Lana Del Rey sound. Known for its humorous, poetic lyricism and stripped-back production. Elimination of older ideas, images and sentiments in turn of newer, more personal interests. Emphasis on words and musicality. Themes of everyday life, adulthood, trauma, sociocultural issues, friendship and family.
Notable works: "The greatest", "Venice Bitch", "Hope Is A Dangerous Thing", "Mariners Apartment Complex", "White Dress", "Dealer", "LA Who Am I to Love You", among others.

    a. Postmodernism

    1. Norman Fucking Rockwell!

"Is, on some level, ironic; challenges barries between high and low; shows disdain of the often unquestioned value of structural unity; considers music as relevant to cultural, social and political contexts; includes references to music of many traditions and cultures; considers technology as a way to preserve and transmit music; embraces contradictions; presents multiple meanings." Known as "The album of the end of the world" due to its apocalyptic nature.
Recurrent colors: blue, red, white, neon green and brown.

    b. Postminimalism

    1. Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass
    2. Chemtrails Over the Country Club

"Postminimalist works are usually everyday objects, use simple materials, and sometimes take on a pure, formalist aesthetic. Steady pulse, general evenness of dynamics, without strong climaxes or nuanced emotionalism." Vastly interested in escapism and existentialism.
Recurrent colors: white, black, grey, green and orange.

    c. Casualism

    1. Blue Banisters
    2. Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd

"A new type of postminimalism that features a self-amused, anti-heroic style. Interested in a studied, passive-aggressive irresoluteness that reflect wider insights about culture and society. Works might appear unfinished or incomplete, intentionally awkward, physically fragile and unstable, rejecting the display of conventional skills." Notable for the random, unpolished nature of its lyricism, composition and vocal styles.
Recurrent colors: blue, brown, beige and yellow.

Tbh BUS has a dark vibe that i really like and i prefer it more than some other songs from COCC . But I am not so sure about the country direction of a whole album or ep . I guess i'll have to listen first and then judge the collab .

As much as I love singer/songwriter Lana I do want more good surface level pretty songs if that makes sense. Songs that I can twirl around to on sunny day at the beach without being like oh this song is about childhood trauma or something like Shades of Cool, WC, Venice, Dealer, etc. I don’t even mean surface level in a bad way, I think a good artist has a balance between surface level and singer/songwriter-esque stuff, I feel like she’s been on the latter side for a while though

Okay REALLY unpopular: I absolutely do not give a shit about the 738351427th version of a song we already have in 738351426 other versions. I don't need any more alterntive mixes of any BTD song or Yes To Heaven or Hundred Dollar Bill.
I would like a final version of Hollywood's Dead for example but whatever...

I don't like her higher register. It sounds good but I'm not wowed. It's just not Lana if you know what I mean. I wish she made a pure old school lower register jazz album like Lady Gaga did. I also hope she makes a darker classic Lana song for Euphoria since it contains themes of her older music.

100% low jazzy voice needs to make a comeback I miss that girl so much

Her higher voice is truly beautiful...she sounds so saccharine and angelic. Very sunny.

I think she mentions in one of her poems
"My voice is higher now that I'm over u"

😅 is this what she meant? Never going back to her lower register ? I hope it comes back one day..
