I’m so glad our insiders didn’t mention the Norman sample.  we weren’t expecting that one and it was a serve.
 
Can yall believe we are getting an album with the entirety of A&W at the beginning and ending with a sample of VB at the end? We truly won. 
 

Ocean Blvd and A&W for some reason to me feel very much like lyrical successors to some of earlier/raunchier shit like Gods and Monsters, Cola, Sad Girl, Your Girl, Fucked My Way, etc. Even that Ride monologue. 
 
She's kind of flaunting being the other woman/her sexual prowess with all the "open me up, tell me you like it, fuck me to death" "fuck on the hotel floor" etc etc etc...just like Cola, Gods and Monsters, parts of Sad Girl, etc
 
but at the same time knowing it'll never really satisfy her & has knocked down her self-esteem AND her reputation. "love me until i love myself," "my body marred my mind," "wondering what went wrong," "jimmy only loves me when he wants to get high" and the whole rape/asking for it tangent....just like Your Girl, where she's all miserable cause she's not his main girl, the rest of Sad Girl, the Ride monologue where she's crying about being the other woman....

Spotify filters out some streams that it deems as spammy to avoid stans manipulating the charts too much. So if you stream the song 100 times a day, it will only count a small portion of them. However, the unfiltered streams count all of them. The filtered streams appear on the Spotify Top 200 chart, and count for Billboard, while the unfiltered streams is what appears under her artist page next to the songs.

I've not seen anyone here talking about it so I thought I'd post. A really heartbreaking story. She was so young.
 
I have no sympathy for the two children who murdered her, they were responsible for their actions and deserve to be put away for a long, long time, but it's horrible to see 3 young people's lives completely fucked thanks to the unending hate and vitriol spread by the UK media and scum like Joanne Rowling.
 
It's been disgusting seeing the media coverage of the story as well. The UK media, both left and right wing, has a heavy transphobic bias and rumor has it, several newspapers interviewed her dentist so they could find her deadname to use in their articles - only changing it after backlash. They made a conscious effort to deadname a 16 year old murder victim. One publication edited their article from 'teenage girl' to 'transgender teen' and edited out all reference to her being a girl when they found out she was trans. On the flip side, some newspapers didn't even mention she was trans, or at least emphasised that there was no clear motive, because god forbid they be held accountable for the results of their hate campaigns. They should really be celebrating to see their efforts finally come to fruition. Not to mention that if a trans person was a suspect for murder, you'd never hear the end of it... but when a trans person is a victim of a violent crime it's suddenly not an important fact. It makes me so fucking furious and what's worse is that it isn't even being treated as a hate crime by the police, which it clearly is. As a trans person living in the UK I'm honestly terrified.

The piano on A&W is amazing. If she continues to use it that way, I'm all for it.

Literally! I listened on good speakers for the first time last night and I noticed so many things I never heard before in my 50+ listens on my AirPods..... the layering and depth to this song is insane 

It's also really dumb to compare a song like A&W to Blue Banisters or Arcadia. Totally different tracks that try to convey really different emotions.
It's clear than on BB the majority of the track's focus was on lyrics and while A&W has top tier lyrics too, it wouldn't work with just piano chords, just like Blue Banisters wouldn't work with a 90s rock guitar and piano base 
 
We wouldn't have this album without Chemtrails and BB so the take that "this is the album she really wanted to put out after NFR" is dumb too 
 

Bah, it’s the neverending cycle of LB: pre-eras trash the previous album, with through-the-roof expectations for the new one. But once the new is out for a couple of weeks, « deceptions » begin to fly high again. 
According to LB, HM was considered boring when it was out, LFL was trash and incohesive, NFR was watered-down, etc, etc. HM was viewed as a masterpiece after LFL and NFR; LFL finally got the well-deserved love it got with new members joining for the last two years, etc. 
all critics are valid, but this forum tends to be over critical with the last album and even the newest one.

When "Blue Banisters" was released, people were TRASHING Jack. There were literally essays about how "Jack Antonoff only knows how to play chords, Drew Erickson is a REAL pianist". And now they hate Drew and love Jack, like: ????

Lana's Genius page is one of the worst I have ever seen. Truly some of her "stans" are so superficial and basic and believe everything Lana sings about is a drug reference or believe every song is a love song (Arcadia for instance... when it's obviously a sort of social commentary). Also when you try to edit something whoever runs her Genius page immediately downvotes you and deletes your contribution. Also the fact that she herself doesn't post her official lyrics doesn't help at all. And honestly? I think it's one of the few reasons why I think she wasn't respected as a lyricist for 70% of her career. Her lyrics are complex but are they really that abstract for most people not to understand a bit of what she's trying to say?
