    Very strong debut on Spotify:

1st Day - Partial (only 9 hours of tracking)
    🌍 WW: #139 (NEW) — 1,251,647 (filtered)
    🇺🇸 US: #93 (NEW) — 410,167 (filtered)
    🇬🇧 UK: #89 (NEW) — 92,349 (filtered)

The title track got 1,355,631 filtered streams on its first day (partial), so the gap between the two tracks consists of 100,000 streams. For a surprise drop of a 7-minute album track with zero playlisting on a Tuesday, this is quite impressive. Hopefully it’ll have a healthy run and - why not? - perform even better (the TikTok stans have to make it go viral though!) in the upcoming days/weeks until the album release date. Lana deserves this.

Wow. This is actually really exciting to see. She's not one to hype her own material. Seems like she's really proud of this one.

I love the songs from start to the end so much & no one asked for it but here are some of my favourite moments:

The intro bc the guitar & the piano are so beautiful
The Pre-Chorus, Rosemead & doesn't really really matter part , those harmonies !!
The piano & vocals in the second verse , it's beyond beautiful
The jumpscares in the transition,  I'm living for them
When Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop part starts
The last minute, with the verse over the NFR sample, the lost my mind part , then the crazy sound & the scream into the Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop part
Everytime she says Your mom called , I told her you fucking up big time
And probably more like the sound effects & details, but damn A&W is really that good & I have yet dive more deeper into the lyrics but they already leaving me speechless

The title track and A&W are up there as some of her finest work ever. The production is insane and so is everything else, her voice, the melodies, lyrics (!) and all the details. Also A&W is one of her saddest/darker songs. I was honestly scared of the "slutty trap beat" description insiders gave... sorry, but why are some Lana stans so musically basic/ignorant? I would've never described this song that way... Goes to show how some people only see the tiniest bit of surface in music.

Anyway, these are her strongest singles since MAC/VB (which were career-shifting). I hope Tunnel becomes her most acclaimed work.

    A&W is incredible.

She primes the listener so brilliantly with the opening lines' mention of her childhood and her mother. That serves to function as a precursory explanation for why "it's not about having someone to love [her] anymore," and why she now is embarking on the experience of an American Whore  –––– which is then developed throughout the song and depicted as a byproduct of her early formative experiences AND how heavily she has been berated by the media. She has internalized projections of herself, which came from her externalized interactions with others (in her early childhood and in her career 2011–onward), which has changed the way she conducts herself altogether. Sociology queen!

The lyrics are confessional, yet so coded at the same time. She has mastered the art of revealing so much while keeping things completely abstract.

"Jimmy" is SUCH an unexpected, yet welcome sonic twist. It is a true melodic embodiment of the completely uninhibited quality she sings about in the first ~4 minutes of the track.

And let's talk about the killer one-liners that evoke Question for the Culture (which is now becoming a centre-point for lyrical interweaving between songs in the grander LDR narrative). Lines like "Do you really think I give a damn what I do after years of just hearing them talking?" / "Do you really think anybody would think I didn't ask for it?" / "I'm testifying, you already fucked up my story on top of this," / and "Did you know a singer can still be looking like a side-piece at thirty-three?" are just feral. I use this phrase very sparingly, but – she ate.

This album is going to be a new pinnacle in her discography.

So many thoughts about the new song now that it’s really settled in!

Initially, I think my preconceived notions of how A&W would sound threw me off quite a bit, but after a few more plays and listening past those expectations, I can confidently say A&W is going to be one of my all-time favorites.

Also, prior to the correct lyrics being posted, I didn’t remotely catch just how dark and nuanced this song is. That’s its own conversation, but I’m seriously so impressed—with A&W and the title track, the full picture of the record is slowly becoming more clear.

Also, I cannot stress enough how amazing this song is with headphones—cranking up the volume with them really highlights her inflection and the little production gems.

She knows she’s about to release album of the century

10/10 pairing. This song is super Gaspar Noé. Or Harmony Korine.

I’m so excited about Taco Truck x VB. The way she revisited, payed tribute and even sampled older songs/sounds in A&W is absolutely astonishing. Kintsugi saying that Taco Truck’s outro is one for the books makes me even more impatient. And Jack teased it on his IG story today, as well! I’m pretty sure it’ll be a glorious ending to a sublime album.

I’m also very curious about the interludes which are supposed to be psychotic and creepy. I wonder if Candy Necklace is going to take us by surprise, too. I remember BOZ saying that all the long tracks on the album have unusual/unconventional structure and this track has an insane amount of instruments on it. And Kintsugi described it as « massive ».

Crude Drawing of an Angel is my favourite track by far. Absolutely transcendent. I also really love Pretty in Possible, Butterfly Net, Blood and Butter, and Hopedrunk Everasking. Billions has aged beautifully and is such an amazing - and fitting! - closer. I’m less keen on the rest of the singles which all have their strong moments, but mostly feel ‘slight’ compared to the rest of the album (Bunny Is A Rider is very cool though) . I also love Dido on Fly on Me (Grimes almost ruins the song, lol).
