To be honest I’m actually shocked because I don’t think an executive order can override a judicial statute.

The problem isn’t even TikTok, it’s all these politicians who have used the app for 3+ years to campaign, now claiming it’s a security risk. If it was the security risk they were claiming none of the politicians would have been on it constantly posting. The problem is that this is all for show so Trump can come in and “”” save “””” it.

I don’t like TikTok with a passion and how it’s been “contaminating” every social media platform because they wanted to emulate it in some way. But is banning that platform going to change anything? Social media needs to be better regulated when it comes to the data sharing / amassing and how addictive they can become. But I see this ban as the hydra from the Greek mythology: cut one head and three will grow back. There’ll surely be a new platform that will land this week and that’ll take its place in the next month or one already existing who’ll become number 1 by doing something similar. 

i understand a lot of them though because tiktok for larger creators is also a job, and it's just been abruptly taken away from them. small businesses are in the same boat, because i feel like the past few years small businesses in general have gained so much popularity and appreciation for their work via tiktok. those two type of creators are probably the ones this ban is affecting the most. i can't say i feel as bad for the simple influencers because the job was always temporary anyways, but im just imagining all the small businesses thatll have to stop work entirely, which for a lot of them is their passion and art, too.

 
tiktok has definitely been more impactful than people give it credit for. past all the brainrot, it's given so many different people platforms to speak or to earn money from as a job. and this ban also affects everyone in every country too, especially since america's one of the countries with the most users worldwide. business is gonna be a lot slower for small businesses outside of the US now. everyone's gonna struggle

I think it’s an incredible cultural loss? TikTok helped shape music especially within the past couple years. Brat summer, Chappell Roan, even Doechii had her breakthrough recently due to the help of TikTok. I’m not saying these artists couldn’t have been successful without it but the platform completely propelled their success. When was the last time instagram created a viral meme? What about Facebook? I will literally have conversations about TikTok with my coworkers in the same way people in the 90’s would have conversations about the shows they saw the previous night (“water cooler talk”). Not to mention the fact that so many Americans rely on the income stream. I would say it’s a pretty phenomenal loss.

No loss for the culture, but the reasons for the ban are weird. A lot of hardware comes from China, which should raise similar security concerns.
I think it has more to do with the fact that Tiktok is a successful competitor to other US social media platforms.

Same lol, I’ve escaped from that app in 2021 and haven’t gone back ever since, it is pure brainrot
 

Being an European who doesn't even care about this app is a very entertaining seat to be in in the midst of all these meltdown videos. 

Yeah (p) means master recording. on every single album it's (p) Lana/Record label or record label/Lana except Honeymoon, which is just the label.

It deserved and it deserves much more streams
It's one of my faves on the album since Honeymoons release and one of my fave Lana songs to listen to in warmer weather , I was so obsessed with the song and the music video back in 2015 
MTWBT is the perfect sunbathing anthem and I just love the production and melody so much. I do think we haven't talked about the drums in the bridge enough, obsessed with them, reminding me of something tropical !!
Glad to see it finally gets more recognition
 

Belated Honeymoon anniversary post incoming...,.
 
The title track and Terrence Loves You are two of her most beautiful songs. My life was so fucking crazy and bad when Honeymoon was coming out but the gorgeous piano, synths, vocals and songwriting rly ended up overwriting and defining that period of my life. I also think it really solidified a lot of her artistry with the whole sultry mysterious songwriter thing, and also as a beautiful vocalist and talented lyricist. It was less well-received than the last two albums but really confirmed her as an artist that wasn't just necessarily doing what was palatable & chart-worthy.
 
Bonus thoughts: Honeymoon sounds best on the hottest days of the year. This album's bridges are some of the best in her career. The demos are fkn immaculate, Freak demo bridge forever, marry me marry me etc. I miss her Nina Simone covers as album closers so bad. BRING BACK UO EXCLUSIVE VINYL. And we literally both know it's not fashionable to love me like omfg

Okay so this actually really upset me lol. But I did some googling and it's a weird situation. Apparently Coca Cola owns the recipe for Nestea while Nestle owns the brand, they used to work together to make it but now the two companies are separating. Coca Cola could use the original Nestea formula with the different Fuze branding, but it isn't clear if that is what is happening because some comments swear they taste identical and others say that they taste completely different. I haven't tried Fuze so I don't know. But Nestle has licensed the Nestea branding to Keurig Dr. Pepper, who are going to continue to produce Nestea but they can't use the original formula. The new formula could taste different, but they are probably going to try to make it taste as close as possible to the original. You aren't allowed to trademark a taste, so as long as they do their own research and development and create their own, new formula it could potentially end up being pretty much identical to the Coca Cola version. I have my fingers crossed!

when i used to work at a popular UK coffee shop chain they got bought out by the coca cola company just before i left and they changed all the own branded teas to fuze teas. they tasted gross and i stopped drinking peach iced tea...

i really don’t get the hate for Tough, it’s not my all time favorite Lana song but it was a nice fun summer moment (something we haven’t had in years!) and Quavo is a pretty popular artist

Life is beautiful first came in to existence about eight years before it was actually leaked and then appeared on an album 10 years later give or take a few years. I’m not sure about the exact dates, but let’s just say that this along with any of her snippets  should encompass the same idea.
