I agree about expectations. Mine are fairly low. You're brave to say it here, and I mean that as a sincere compliment.

 

Maybe we've never known who Lana really is, but the recent Lana persona and the 'classic' Lana persona of yore are very different people. I personally don't look to her for songs like Life is Beautiful, Love Song, or Let Me Love you Like A Woman, which I find bland and which we can get from any middle-of-the-road artist. I do love Old Money, which is emotionally restrained, and that's what gives it its poignancy.

Also, since she forgot to initially tag Zach Dawes I think he only produced 1-2 tracks at most, and we know he probably did Zodiac. Those who love this song still have hope.

To my ear, in terms of production, instrumentation, and arragement, the sound of BB and the sound of OB are very far apart. Judging by the sound of each, I don't see what JA brings to the table. So I'd probably appreciate a sound on this new album that's closer to BB.

I think the opposite, the songs don't fit in with Chemtrails or Blue Banisters because otherwise they would have ended up on the albums. It would rather be covers of some American classics, but I hope that we will mainly get completely new songs.

As this is her first post-marriage album, I think The Right Person Will Stay is the best possible title. Further down the road, whatever ends up happening in her life, the album name remains true- whether he stays or leaves.

 

Lets just hope she doesn’t pull an Ariana and name one of the songs Jeremy Dufrene

Ocean Blvd and Blue Banisters are more similar than they are different, let’s be honest for a second. Ocean Blvd sounds like what she aimed for with Blue Banisters, with more time to develop and craft the sound. It makes sense, given the turnaround time from OB to BB was 1.5 years, compared to the 6 months from Chemtrails to Blue Banisters.

 

Also, I personally think this “era” or “period” of Lana- 2021 and afterwards, a lot of the songs from each album (excluding the 3 YouTube rips from BB) could’ve existed on Chemtrails, BB, or OB in some capacity. They’re not too different from each other and the themes on each album are pretty similar, with some minor differences in each

I wasn't the biggest fan when we first knew about it but now there's no way that album should be called differently, iconic!

Henry being the first single is also..... an interesting choice. It feels like a LMLYLAW situation right now, a rather weak song to open an era that will turn people off. The snippet is so basic and I really hope it builds up, but some insiders have already said it's boring.

Your ear and mine hear very different things. It's a matter of personal aesthetic, not fact.

I rate OB very low, with the what seems to me like a silly opening to The Grants, the pointless interludes—the one on BB is no better—the redundant songs (Fishtails, Sweet, The Grants), the maudlin title track, the strained vocals on Grandfather, the wanna-be-hip A&W, the many-times bettered Candy Necklace, and the muffled sound on Let the Light In (among others). 

 

I hear BB as clear, controlled, straight forward, and honest—though I don't care for the BB title track—a monument to and from a strong woman who knows who she is and is in control of her life--while I hear OB as the opposite of that. 

 

We know TRPWL is another concoction fused together over several years under various conceptions, including a sidetrip into Country and, apparently,  another into Southern Gothic, so who knows what the new album will sound like. Maybe it will sound like something we've never heard from Lana. Was Tough a clue? Do we know for a fact that Tough will be on the album? Whatever was stated in the past doesn't mean that hasn't changed. Personally, I hope Tough isn't on the record, though I think it's okay.
