omg I can't believe its been 7 years HM was my first era as a devoted fan  I can't believe I was 12 2015 felt like such a different time  I remember when she announced HBTB for August 10th w that STUNNING single cover and me trying to convince my mom and sister she was an alt girlie and not a pop girlie  and the morning Terrence came out and I listened to it on my way to middle school feeling like Ella Fitzgerald such a magical album still in my top 2 w UV the 1-2 punch of those two records and how honeymoon began the introspection that was then sidelined for LFL and returned to with NFR! is so crazy in retrospect mother!!!!!!!

I still remember my first listen to the leak the night before (?) its release. I found out it had leaked by searching in the news tab on Google (this is how I used to constantly check for news before I joined LB the next year) at like 1am before I was going to bed, then I found it and listened to it until 2am. I was SO tired, half asleep, and honestly confused at how quiet and subtle the whole album seemed. I think on first listen it was only Freak and Art Deco that I instantly liked as much as HBTB and Honeymoon. It probably took me a week to warm up to the other songs but it got better and better with every single listen. 

I got deepest into the album in late 2015 on my bus rides to/from University. Honeymoon really helped me get through hard times when it was late and getting dark and I was dreading getting back home to be alone in my room again. I still feel this album like it's my guardian angel leading me towards peace and harmony. It helped me to be softer on myself when there used to be such stormy violence inside me.

for real,

my first listen of this album was through a leak of a UO listening party  it was so shitty lq! But you know an album is insanely good when you can’t help but fall in love with a song in super lq. The Blackest Day, Religion and DLMBM all stood out on first listen, even though people were chatting all around them.

Haven't played this album in a month

Listening again & it's amazing & stunning and aah missed it so much , never gonna live without Honeymoon that long again

I think... after having Lana as my no 1 favourite artist for like A whole DECADE now () (Where have you been, where did you go, dear time? ) I can FINALLY say I think I have a personal opinion about what her number one very BEST album is.... Honeymoon. Sometimes I feel the magnus opus (to me) is BTD sometimes UV or Paradise etc, but everytime I listen to the HM tracks it just... feel different. Will forever be "pissed" that some ppl got the NERVE to "love all LDR's music except Honeymoon"? That's lack of taste.
To me Paradise is second best, I think. I wondered if it wasn't my absolute fav for a while, bcs I adore the sound and vibes and every single track of Paradise so very much and I think almost every song are masterpieces, but idk something about the order of the tracklist is just not that cohesive, not as HM is. Therefore... Honeymon you are my number one. And I mean.. Honeymoon already SOUNDS like a classic from like the 60s or 70s right? People (critics included) will certainly see HM as that in the future. Sorry NFR! You're good (even though I don't see you in the same light at all, like I did upon release </3) but Honeymoon is the true masterpiece.

(I suck at explaining thing, I know, but I am now part of the HM is the magnus opus club, finally.)

After all those years, it's still her best. I love all of her albums and all of them are skipless imo, but Honeymoon is a masterpiece over masterpieces. It's flawless and perfect - I will never get over it. You have to be mature enough to truly appreciate it.

ive known this was my my 2nd and sometimes number 1 fav album since like 2018 but every time i listen in full it still just blows my mind that a piece of art i feel is so perfect even exists at the same time as me.

 

im not so great with words in writing so while im in this zone i was just curious to read something about why this is another persons favorite album as well
