One day they'll use Swan Song on a hit TV show and it'll reach #1 like Running Up That Hill

So far the best transition is white dress to cocc to tjf to lmltlaw. Hoping for a nice transition like this on ldr9

I have to be delulu for a minute and write about how the stars aligned and this album was released for me.

My birthday is Oct 25. I take a medication she mentioned. NOTG was one of my favorite unreleased songs (or at least post-Lizzy unreleased). Even though I can agree it's not the best album as a whole, the musical style aligns nicely with various genres I'm interested in, so it's still somewhere in the top of my list. Right before we figured out Thunder was going to be on the album I had been to a memorial service for my finance's phD advisor. Apparently his motto was "Just do it".  I had been going on a deep dive of RHCP, and the iconic scene from Arcadia with the stars in the background and the city on her chest is almost identical to a scene in the video for Under the Bridge. But mostly the fact that it's basically a birthday album

Yesterday, Lana Del Rey visited the Hotel Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California.
She was there with her siblings Chuck & Charlie Grant, friends Craig Stark, Jack Donoghue, and Val, and Chuck’s boyfriend Jason Pickens and their daughter Phoenix to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. She also met some fans while out in Santa Barbara.

Lana - For the way she built herself a world of her own, shaped her surroundings according to her own reality and drew great art from that source to touch so many people; for being hard-working, powerful, resilient; for showing there's beauty in fragility and sometimes in tragedy, too, for it always teaches you something and life goes on with you stronger. She also made me more comfortable with my femininity, my ever-changing tides of mood and encouraged me to let go of my former perfectionist attitude towards poetry and life and relationships in general. She made me appreaciate little things, too. Just things you wouldn't think of as big happenings, but they leave their mark as happy moments in your life.

Courtney Love - Behind the media drama and a drug-fueled relationship with a famous rock star was one of the most incredible lyricists of all time, humourous, bitter, sarcastic, romantic, witty, incredibly charismatic, a true feminist figure (all in the span of one song sometimes)

Kurt Cobain - I still catch myself using clever tactics I learned from him in my teens when I'm writing poetry. On top of being a genius musician, he also wrote very simple but interesting lyrics. For example, in Dumb he sings "My heart is broke, but I have some glue/ Help me inhale and mend it with you." where "inhale" shows up completely unexpected. I thought it was the coolest shit ever. Also, he was the perfect embodiment of masculine fragility, rage channeled in art and incredible sense of humor combined.

Jim Morrison - for his myth-building and spiritual leanings
    Leonard Cohen - incredible lyrics
Elliott Smith - just a freaking genius

Edit: I forgot Grimes! I'm pretty new to her but it's insane that she does everything regarding her music: composing, production, artwork, videos herself.

I just had an out of body experience listening from 2:45 to 3:16 of Text Book... I literally levitated a few centimetres above my bed and beams of light came from my eyes, mouth, and fingers... Literally the reason I can't listen to this song often smh

This album is so slow like it moves like a glacier. But I also think it's pretty gorgeous in a messy, very personal way. Lana is so intimate, it's like she tells you her darkest secrets but you still don't really know who she is.

Let's rewrite history, I'll do this dance with you...

There's a hole that's in my heart all my women try and heal
They're doin' a good job convincin' me that it's not real
    It's heat lightning

I promise that nothing will burn you.

Wait do ppl actually hate NotG

I mean I don’t really care for its presence on the album bc it’s a random demo from 2013 on an album full of more fleshed out/recent recordings but as a song it is THAT Girl and deserves Respect

When will you guys understand that songs on an album are not always written 5 m9nths prior to release. Using older songs is not "lazy" or "recycling" or whatever. So even if the track would have originallx recorded in 2018, it does not have to mean that the album will be coming out very soon

I for one am extremely intrigued by the automatic writing approach. I think we're going to get something really abstract and unhinged, an unpredictable exploration of Lana's mind without filters.

Agree 💯. I mean, this post got me excited because I love when she includes songs she improved or that she did in one take: they often feel more « vulnerable ». And to judge a song before we heard nothing of it yet is a bit too much.

i just think the constant hateful posts about anything related to jack are a bit too much. ofc i advocate for free speech but i've actually had a harder time listening to nfr because of the stuff i constantly read here  maybe that's more about me then anyone but i just think we should be able to voice our opinions without exaggeration or repetition because it does get a little crazy at some point

AKA, UV, and NFR are my favorite Lana albums to listen to in the summer. AKA feels like noon on a late May or early June day, UV is June/July mid summer heat in the middle of the afternoon, and NFR is the evening into dusk into nighttime of one of the last days of summer (late August/early September).

    The perfect summer trifecta.
