I really like the album. It sounds exactly like what I expected it to sound like tbh, it's very mellow. It's def not a showstopping album like Golden Hour, but it's a nice listen. Lonely Millionaire def stands out for me that's def the fav but other than that all the songs fit in that "Oh I like this!" category. It's cute!

    IN SUMMATION

The album is surprisingly good and for the most part seems to be well received. I was genuinely expecting this to be an unprecedented disaster with the Yes And H&M anthem single and Ari’s personal controversies leading up to the album. The more I listen to this album, the more i appreciate little different details about it each time. It reminds of of Sweetener in that regard. Every song on the album has value, even though there are some I like more than others. EVEN Yes And can be given the compliment of just being the most boring, at least it isn’t an abominable dumpster fire like some songs Ari has dropped in the past. Speaking of which, I can compliment this album for not having a song like Everyday where some rapper says the same word 20 million times or a god awful pop anthem closer like Popular Song where some Maroon 5 clone sings the worst buttery gay vocals imaginable! So while the album doesn’t have any horrible lows, my main criticism then would be that it doesn’t have any super highs either. This is the same problem I had with Positions. While this album has many great songs, to me personally it had no amazing songs that i’ll remember forever. Sweetener had No Tears Left to Cry and Everytime, Thank u Next had Bad Idea and In My Head, Dangerous Woman had Bad Decisions. The closest this album has to a song like that is Supernatural, and while that’s a great song, it isn’t much better than the other great and catchy songs on the album. The main feature that sticks out throughout the album is how short the songs feel. That isn’t really a criticism though since the songs are good, it’s really short and sweet. I also really like the interlude into Eternal Sunshine. The Instrumental to Eternal Sunshine at first sounds like it could be a Bladee song. In general the more catchy songs on the album like Bye and We Can’t Be Friends have a nice modern disco feel that’s actually catchy, not annoying like Yes And.

    Overall, 7/10. Well done Ari

I'm so obsessed with this album, I literally can't stand to listen to anything else  Bye, Eternal Sunshine and We Can't Be Friends actually have crack in them Supernatural sounds like it could be an M83 song The Boy is Mine is so addictive I love that slowed down chorus Ordinary Things feels like an amazing climax like you're slamming your foot on the pedal and speeding into a new adventure  The album is so warm and emotive it makes me feel so many things. It reminds me of Troye's Something to Give Each Other. I hope the rumors of AG8 coming later this fall are true and she follows this new style.

I really didn’t connect with this album on my first listen but something drew me in to keep listening to it… I love it now.

There’s a feeling of muted sadness permeating through the record that’s really appealing coming from a pop star of her status - generally (pop) artists go big or go broke with their breakup/divorce albums but this one is quiet, adult heartbreak. The one that doesn’t destroy you completely but lingers indefinitely. The title itself tricks you into thinking the album conveys a different message but once you realize it was inspired on the Eternal Sunshine film, the whole thing clicks.

And sonically? She does Aaliyah, TLC, Mariah Carey, Robyn, Missy Elliott… all in a very cohesive package that sounds undoubtedly hers. Very very good record and a mature overview of one’s life crumbling. The Supernatural - The Boy Is Mine run is actually insane.

OMG this album is very good. True Story is a banger, We Can't Be Friends is so moving, Eternal Sunshine track is brilliant, Imperfect for You is stuck in my head (and highly welcome here) and the Saturn Returns interlude is the cherry on top (it def is her Burnt Norton). The only thing I don't really like is Yes, And?. She and Max Martin did an amazing work. I just ordered the CD n°3.
The other album I loved was Sweetener (it's one of the most unique Pharell Williams work imo) -get well soon is an immense track- and I like the two albums in between but I don't really know them yet.

i normally don't care for ariana's music but damn this album is so good. the only other album of hers i enjoyed was sweetener so i didn't expect much but this really blew me away. the album is so mature but also kinda disco-y. its the perfect vibe. and imo her voice has never sounded better. i'm just so impressed.

In regards to the muffled vocals that’s def a shoegaze-y stylistic choice that I definitely have grown to appreciate but at first was jarred by. I think you’ll grow to get used to it and appreciate it.

so glad that you've discovered her! you're in for a real treat. I would recommend starting with Preacher's Daughter, then getting into her other EPs. May God bless you on your journey of becoming a Daughter of Cain!

Twigs just publicly confirmed on her discord server that a new album will be coming out in 2024 and it will probably be solo and techno inspired.

I really love this album already.

the music videos add to the songs, and they're not even my favorites from it.

dreamy, gentle, emotionally open. immaculate vibe/ production. never really paid attention to her stuff aside from singles, but I think this album changes that. it's a chill work.
