    I haven't done a cartwheel since I was nine.

Such a simple but profound sentence. I am in my late 60's and this doesn't make me sad or melancholy. Just makes me think and reflect. One sentence. That is why she deserved to win.

Quality lost and overexposure won but it’s still nice that Taylor acknowledged Lana. Certainly she believes what she said about Lana to be true but Lana deserved to have gone up that stage on her own merit for her own record - not someone else’s subpar collection of songs.

I’m not going to act like I ever know what she’s thinking but I feel intuitively that she knows she’s above it all. It still stings on some level, I’m sure - because when you’re good at what you do, of course you deserve critical respect and recognition. That’s probably why the relationship she has to critics has been a focal point of her career. The Grammys is an extension of that.

It would be nice to be celebrated, but again, she’s won in the way that she doesn’t feel pressured to make stupid music for the sake of winning an award. I don’t want to bring down other artists (I will drag Boygenius though), but obviously the album that won was not in any particular way meaningful the way Ocean Blvd was. Why taint your legacy just to make a record like that.

At the end of the Day Lana's continued success, influence and noted inspiration from current artists means more than any award decided via internal politics.

It's kinda more iconic at this point to be regarded as an artist who has been so unjustly shut out by such erroneous or conspiratory decisions because her impact and artistry cannot be denied than to be any old hack with 1 Grammy to their name.
That video she posted years back about being behind a brick wall and talent comes to mind.

I'm still shocked tbh. I would've bet my life savings that she would have won at least 1 award last night

This really is embarrassing for the Grammys and cements the fact that they are an out-of-touch popularity contest. They've hated her from day one, and they refuse to admit that they were wrong about her. They know that it's impossible to deny her artistic achievements, hence the multiple nominations, but they will not give her the satisfaction of a win.

I'm so happy she doesn't play their game, she will always be too good for the industry.

Honestly I think Lana is more loved by her fans and other artists (HUGE artists- the biggest) now more than ever. She's the singer that all other singers love. Shes one of, if not the #1, most referenced artist in pop AND alternative music. Fuck the Grammys. She really doesn't need them. She's always been on another level.

I'm really disappointed because, just like most of you guys, I was so confident she was taking home at least one award. I know it's a competition and I don't want Lana to be a victim but this is all so unfair. Everyone was getting their awards, and nothing for Lana? Who was second best selling woman in the world, even more than the people she lost against? Who had one of the most monumental, critically applauded albums of the 2020s? Who didn't stop making the news for her magnetic performances at some of the most important festivals in the world? Who had the most talked-about album of the entire year?

Midnights was the Best Pop Vocal Album, why give it the AOTY too? What Was I Made For won Best Song Written for Visual Media, the category it totally deserved as it was, well, the best song written for visual media of the bunch? How does that song reflect 2023 as Song of the Year, and not A&W with its actually thought-provoking lyrics?

Boygenius for Best Alternative Music Album; I know The Record was acclaimed too, but in what world Ocean Blvd wasn't the alternative album of the year? The one that's actaully left-field, deeply conceptual, with multiple sounds, instruments, dynamics and lyrics that actually represent the alternative side of music; topics that aren't talked about, that are feared by most, and not as explored as they should. Why give This Is Why Best Alternative Song, when its parent album won Best Rock Album? Couldn't they, really, give anything to Lana?

If this is a popularity contest, yes they all deserved... Miley, SZA and everyone else; but 2023 was undoubtedly Lana's popularity peak, and it only seems to rise. How, seriously how wasn't she awarded for that? What does she have to do to have this level of mainstream recognition? She doesn't need it, of course, as she's a critic darling, a festival darling, a GP darling... everyone loves her. She hasn't reached the tip of the "music industry" iceberg, but does she really need to? Prime TV, the Grammys, the Oscars... maybe her fate really is to be a trailblazer, watch all of her disciples come and go, grab the gold and the applause, but she will remain strong and influential, discussed and forever relevant.

I love you Lana, and I love you Ocean Blvd; others are thankful for seeing their favorite artists reach #1 and undeservedly break Grammy records; I personally am thankful for experiencing the music, for being part of this global movement that is Lana Del Rey, driven by her pure talent and timeless songwriting.

By the way, she looked breathtaking.

At the end of the day, Lana looks good in all of this ,
Very classy and elegant. A true class act. Taylor is… well, taylor. I appreciate in a lot of ways taylor saying the very true words she said on stage about Lana. What I don’t love personally is the way taylor “babied” Lana throughout the night. I personally feel a little ick about it. Lana is an icon. She doesn’t need to be taken under any wing. However it’s still going to come across as a good moment in a lot of ways in the long run, as Lana remained humble, elegant, and low key in midst of all the taylor mania. Lana is a true artist, she’s in a leage of her own.
Grammys are pretty scammy tbh. Although I know we all want to see her sweep   , she’s truly above it.

Perfectly said - there’s a freedom in being in her position and that’s the real feat. To be able to do whatever you want with your work!
