I feel we're getting something very very very soon. Like... I feel it...

I always thought it's meant in an endearing way. I mean of course it's an insult but I thought it meant even though he objectively isn't good, she loves all his faults and she can't help but have those feelings for him even though she knows it's not good for her. Subjectively, she prefers him despite his flaws.

Cover idea that could be bad idk: She's at a party at the country club and she's the only one wearing a mask. Everybody's dancing and laughing while she's looking up in the sky at the ''chemtrails''. Everybody is living the rich LA lifestyle, not worried about the chemtrails or the virus while she's the sad, woke one, LOL

I want a modern video and slow dreamy trappy song about coked-up old money rich bitches sipping magnum champagne at a country club gossiping about conspiracy theories with it being stylised so glamorously that it starts to ebb and flow indistinctively into satire and irony and then back...

I think that Lana's most admirable quality as an artist is how deeply committed she is to her life's work. While BTD and Norman aren't even comparable, you still see a woman that has evolved from the superficial (not saying this as a bad thing, or to look down on BTD at all) to the spirit of the great American poets and songwriters. I am not worried about Chemtrails at all, lyrically speaking. I know that she'll blow it out of the park again, especially considering that the title evokes the strong imagery of her poetry collection. I am more concerned that I don't know what type of soundscape that this album will shape out to be; that she either hasn't covered yet, or that is in her range. If this turns out to be her Folk record, i'll be absolutely ecstatic. Norman was the turning point towards LDR being taken more seriously as an artist and poet.

I always interpreted the title as a mocking of the many conspiracy theories that state the "elite" are "mind controlling" us through the use of chemicals in the air/water/through cell phone towers; yet these theories fail to point out the fact that those same "elites" would be a victim to their own nefarious deeds (i.e. chemtrails would still exist over the country club; the "elite" method of mind control would harm them too).

If I’m picking old songs that I wouldn’t mind this record conjuring:

    Btd: Born to Die
    Paradise: Bel Air
    UV: West Coast
    HM: Terrance Loves You
    LfL: Heroin
    NFR: Venice bitch

i think a title change has a lot to do with a new direction of sound, maybe white hot forever was the continuation of nfr she talked about but felt like that song in particular didn’t fit the vibe and new direction of the record, the original lust for life (best american record) obviously was a different sounding album than the final product and UV had a style change compared to the songs that leaked like black beauty which was way more rock than the pillowy demo.

lana always seems to go for the same sound as her previous record when she starts a new one but it always turns into something far different, for example the freak demo was very rock influenced and sounded like something off ultraviolence then honeymoon was completely different from that. the lust for life demo and heroin have that same feel, they both sound like something off honeymoon but the final product of lfl is not close to honeymoon at all so i think she’ll end up surprising us with whatever sound she decides to go for

When ideas about what COTCC would sound like first started to be discussed I was sure that the obvious continuation to NFR should be a Mariners/Venice Bitch vibe but then I thought this was only what I wanted it to sound like because NFR - despite being cohesive enough - didn’t really come through as “marine” as I thought it would. (also Lana rarely goes for the same sounds between projects)
Then she posted the clip from that black and white old movie and Patent Leather, and I started to think of a combination between the lush ethereal production behind Music To Watch Boys To and the surfish vibe of the background music to Patent Leather and Happy.
I also keep thinking about the spaceships and rockets in the sky in the bartender video, for some reason I find it very disquieting and haunting even if they look like they’re laughing and having fun. I think Chemtrails will be quite dark and the change of title would make sense.

I predict the title track will start as slow jazz and be about the beauty of a glamorous lifestyle, and then halfway through it will merge into something grungy with a darker and more sinister sound as we realize that impending doom is hovering over these rich folks, and life at the country club isn't all that after all.

so it’s now clear what she’s been doing. She always wanted to be a write of poems, and with the progress of her artistry vision and fame, she’s able now to release this poem project. I think this was her primary big goal that following this career would have an opportunity to make it happen. If you see all her past work and successes, NFR seems the right place to unfold the poetry. She’s settled and reached many goals, you can hear her growth through all these albums. And now it’s safe to say, I like the woman she’s grown into, and the new record would appeal to that certain growth

Follow the fleet of blacked out cars
Through the iron gates you'll find us
26 acres of diamonds and stars

Baby girls lay pretty behind their golden visors
    Dreaming of riches, esaping normality
As the bachelors play poker under rich disguises
I begin to realise that this is not reality
And we watch our lives pass us by
    Laying beneath the nuclear skies

We really need to let go of the idea that she'll release those songs. We're only setting ourselves up for disappointment! Even grenadine quarantine and If this is the end are probably unrealistic

But like this would be a lust for life 2.0 in that some of the tracks just wouldn’t go together - how would you make ‘hey blue baby’ and ‘roses’ make sense together? This would be a royal mess. We need a cohesive sound like btd ultraviolence honeymoon and partially NFR - we don’t need another lust for life mess ugh

I was just thinking, if by chance COTCC’s instrumentals are a mix of the soft ethereal sound of Lana’s first poem and the darker surfy sound of her second poem, it would kinda have Twin Peaks vibes.

imagine her bringing back the retrofuturistic vibe she first mentioned in Honeymoon (although I don't really see it much there) and LFL (RIP blade runner demo)

combined with a post-apocalyptic vibe à la The Greatest and expanding on the guitars giving a UV taste, with BPD/P/Tropico glamor she doesn't wanna hide anymore,

where she can make her social commentary more refined than what she hinted at on NFR but less tacky/shallow/messy than on LFL,

and giving us a proper self isolation / escape from the world anthem like 13 beaches / swan song concept but mixed with current events and with more poetic and bolder lyrics

Does anyone else get reminded of horses galloping riverside when listening to the piano off the title track? It's like they're dancing some scottish waltz, its beautiful
