    Delicious, hands down

I love this poem, I think it's the first one of Lana that has really touched me and that I find good.
At the same time it makes me happy and cringe a bit because I have the same relationship with Sylvia (and to a smaller extent, Marilyn) as Lana (as many women do), so it's a bit embarrassing to see myself reflected so well in the poem.
I need to reread Bell Jar because I forgot the part about the leather shoes. I've read it years ago so I only remember the big plot points.
I have high hopes for the whole poetry book assuming it's gonna bring more poems like this one.

A lot of people have said that Deftones are the smart guy's answer to Linkin Park, the band who has inspired LP, amazing music, etc.
Well, I tried to like them, but I wasn't able to stick long enough to see how similar they are.
What I've always loved about Linkin Park is that, despite all the screaming, the music oozes of vulnerability - especially when Chester sings.
It's no wonder so many people related to their songs, since they're as close to trauma processing as it gets (in mainstream rock music). It's an abuse narrative (mostly on HT and Meteora, but it's sprinkled on new songs too). They're placing themselves in the position of a victim, not an abuser, and that's why their music can be extremely therapeutic.
Deftones are entirely different. I don't care how good they or White Pony is. All I hear is a typical metal misogynist macho douchebag:

(altough I guess "the you're into depression cause it matches your eyes" lyrics are good - makes me think about how every few years, a new "cool" way to be depressed gets invented... it was an awful idea to put them in a song which shames feminity and female sexuality).
Probably there are more cool things to them(like when they pull Geoff Rickly on that one song on Koi no Yokan), but NO - at least untill they do something about their attitude.
So if listening to Deftones is smart, and to Linkin Park is stupid - well, I don't wanna be smart at all.

Who is the man in Blue Banisters who is reliable and who comes back to her? Not her father, right? This is about some lover most likely, but IDK whom. I haven't been keeping up with her romances as of late...
  5. The Siren liked a post in a topic by Lirazel in Groupie Love (ft. A$AP Rocky)
I always have a mental image of wild A$AP Rocky jumping out of bushes to rap and Lana just   swaying next to him and moaning all the 'mmm' and 'yeahs' till he fucks off again.
For that reason, I can't treat the song completely seriously.

Truly a relic of different times. I wonder where the artist is now.

I really hope that I'm not the only one who had this problem...
You hear about a thing, let's say that it's some band. Maybe it's popular, maybe all your friends currently like it or recommend it to you... You have high hopes. The problem is that liking the thing might be harder than you thought... so you endlessly force yourself to listen to it, in hopes that sooner or later something's gonna click.
My personal example is Marina and the Diamonds. I've heard a lot about how interesting and smart her lyrics are, how creative she gets with her videos... Not to mention that a lot of feminists praised her. My friend is extremely into her. A lot of Lana stans also like Marina.
I really wanted to like her music, but obviously thing went awful. I found her first record boring, and Electra Heart was too... American-poppy for me (no offense). I tried to convince myself that I like it for a week or so, and then gave up.
Not to mention that I started hating her lyrics, because they were pasted all over tumblr like some Bible gospel.
Despite that, I must say that Bubblegum Bitch (I know that I kind of contradict myself, but what can I do) and Teen Idle are fun songs.

Have any of you guys and gals ever shared this experience? Doesn't have to necessarily be with music, can be with anything else (actually, I have another example - a certain writer's work - but I am not strong enough to get into this shithole right now )

And yet people were claiming those songs are full of hints that she's gay  Sometimes I wish I understood what people see in Taylor, but most of the times... nah, I'm good.

I feel weird when I see the WC being referenced as a classic Lana music video.
It wasn't that long ago... or was it?I mean, I was there when we were awaiting the release of it!

I find the 3 singles above the Chemtrails album that I really didn't like, I like the fact that they talk about her private life but they are still weak even if I see where she wants to go.

I agree with your opinions and I miss part of her. I know that everything is far away now, she has grown up; evolved blah blah but I need to fall in love with her songs again. Like the very first time I heard each new song in his repertoire, going from Born to die to Lust for life, this excitement, the heart that rises... She misses this time where her songs were very marked and timeless, without boredom.

Damn, I'm hoping that the leaks will give me that because I know that his new music / poem will no longer have this effect.

Mike lied saying that these 3 tracks would be fire, yes they are from Lana but it's not as hot as that and we come back to the same point: there is better but we are going in circles.

Sometimes I would like her to stop taking herself for a poet who writes so many things that they no longer make sense. I think we praise her writing so much for nothing and now she does too many headlines thinking that every stroke of the pencil will be genius. It could, but it is no longer the case.
I really need to travel again through her songs, to feel a texture, a heaviness, a marked universe. She set the bar too high to give up.

I think she has no more inspiration and the fact that she tries to do too many songs as if her life depended on it is damaging her talent. We revolve around the same themes, the same sounds, the same universes, everything is so similar since NFR that we do not realize that she is going to release another album...

She is productive but more in a good way, for me it takes out funds from the drawer that should remain in its hard drive. So its productivity is not really useful because the songs are less quality, she has become lazy through the promo, photos, covers... We do not know where we are.

The girl relies a lot on her prestigious name and she knows it, but until when? It's frustrating.

And Courtney. You forgot Court almost burning her house down. lol

    I agree btw.

I hope she doesn't recycle the "no more candle in the wind" line again.

I enjoyed COCC but it was too short and everything she's done since NFR seems rushed, imo
The 3 singles are definitely more like poems with music. There's no emotion in the instrumentals and tbh, Jack's work on VBBOTG had more sonic variation than these "songs" do (think of the final poem ... Linoleum?)
Mike Dean lied when he said Wildflowers was fire. There IS no fire and that's the problem. There's no anger, no sadness ... except in her voice.
You can't take a poem, employ repetition on a few lines and then say it's a song. It isn't.
And as I said above, the sheer extent of the namedropping makes these feel like personal diary entries which again, makes them seem more poem-y.
    "Jenny's smoking by the pool"
    "Chuckie's baking a birthday cake"
    And whatever the fuck else
I do not care, idk about anyone else
Anyway I'm glad that others are enjoying these but I suspect the replay value won't be there

I am really sick of her namedropping people in her songs, especially after today
It's okay to do in moderation but enough is enough
I get that it's hEr LiFe but Jesus, Chuck and Jen and Nikki and Charlie and Joni and Joan and whoever else do not need to be mentioned in every song ever
Less is more. She does it so much that it is not lyrically impactful at all because it's just a mish-mash of names
There's a reason the CD booklet usually has a page for acknowledgements and she should use it

Kinda shocked that a lot of the people who were bashing COCC are loving Blue Bannisters. They sound basically the same to me. Uninteresting, lethargic, boring lyrics, etc... Jack has just downloaded a new plugin on his music software and everyone has lost their minds. The amount of people I’ve seen hyping up that synth ?
Also, people were loving the snippet of the Blue Bannisters video but hating on the LMLYLAW video??? Again, basically the same thing

Read it closer - it's not a contradiction at all. The second quote is about people around her convincing her she should have a name other than a band name, or 'Lizzy Grant', while the first quote is about where the specific name 'Lana Del Rey' came from. (It's illogical that 'a series of managers and lawyers' would have somehow collectively come up with the name 'Lana Del Rey').

When she said in December 2017 that she will be coming back to Poland in about 3 to 5 months
She even lied about releasing MAC and VB in one week wtf

I feel you. I hope this album isn't the one that finally just has me feel like I've over it all  It's all just too plain and simple, that same stripped down/flat theme, over and over again. And I really hope that's not the actual picsart album cover for Blue Banisters

But who knows, maybe she'll be really surprising There are so many songs yet to be heard coming right up!

While I think this thread is a good place to discuss things that are nearly universally believed to be lies (like the former) or even things some suspect may not be true (like the latter), I think the OP should stick to demonstrable lies, situations where she's said two mutually contradictory things, and unfulfilled promises.

Yup. Perhaps the ur-lie of Lana lies. All the receipts linked in this post. (Also relevant, the lyrics of "My Momma" strongly hint at her having lied about her age in the opposite direction.)

A few others that came to mind most immediately:
She's given two different explanations for what her M tattoo means. FWIW I suspect both are false and she's embarrassed by, ashamed of, and/or regrets the real meaning. Saying she "graduated with a metaphysics degree". Fordham has never offered a major in metaphysics. It's possible her studies had an emphasis on metaphysics, but I guarantee you her degree, if she completed it-- and I think she probably did-- says "philosophy". Pedantic maybe, but still a lie. That one time she was talking about a teacher who was clearly Mr. Campbell, but she lied about the teacher being a "she", I suspect because on some level she realized how inappropriate it sounds. Lana saying that her family "never had any money". Another contender for the ur-lie of Lana lies. So unnecessary, and especially unfortunate that she responded to the (as far as I can tell) unsubstantiated and meritless allegations that her dad bought her career. Responding to that lie with this lie in the opposite direction really fed the inauthentic inauthenticity narratives. Perhaps arguable that this one is demonstrable, but I would argue there is enough evidence to conclude that it is. The Institute of Innnovative Thinkers. Ha. It's basically become a clichéd metonym for this tendency of hers to make unrealized commitments. In now-deleted tweets, almost Trumpian levels of promised charitable donations with no follow through... or perhaps was there, albeit way later than promised?
