Her goodbye video was simultaneously so sweet and so heartbreaking  It's really not that surprising with the way she is treated by people, but it's sad that she's been pushed to the point of not wanting to share her life with us anymore. I hope this decision brings her some peace of mind and a disconnect from the toxicity of the internet and the cruelty so many people throw her way. Thank goodness she re-assured us that her art isn't going anywhere, I can't wait for all the wonderful things she has in store for us

this is actually a blessing bc finally the tortured woke hordes won't have Lana to feed off and project onto and they can go back to hating themselves and their miserable lives so we won

While this makes me sad, because her insta posts are interesting to look at I have nothing but love and respect for her having taking this decision. 

This really feels like the end of Lana, even though she has said there are things to come, these last moments of her career really felt like the end of something.
1. She released the best album of her career aka NFR.
2. She released an album about her friends and family (Chemtrails).
3. She is going to release an album about her, what she was and what she is now. 
4. And now she is going to deactivate all social networks. 
 

i mean the thing about her potentially/probably changing labels and this being a "reset" (or i guess a reprimand at worst) makes more sense to me than any other reason
 
do we know what the terms were/are for lana's contract with interscope by any chance?
 
because if she was just gonna leave like that - i know sis is flaky, but it just does not align with what ben (?) said about her working on something _big_
 
unless that was just a general comment on his part and not something he shared for our sake necessarily, which tbh, i wouldn't be entirely surprised

On the flip side, if she HAS switched labels, maybe her previous Interscope contract forced her to maintain some kind of social media presence, and now that she's essentially about to fulfill her contractual obligations (announced new album, potentially last album under current label) she can do what she's wanted to do for a while, and deactivate. 

Jesus. I just watched her Instagram video and my heart sank. I'm still processing it, just like we all are. I do agree with many of you that it is strange that she is doing this as her new album is being rolled out.  It reminds me of an interview she did many years ago, where she was talking about her past and how she spent a lot of time volunteering and doing work to help others. I wonder if she's getting back to doing that. I also remember interview a long time ago that mentioned she was looking at possibly writing a musical or something for Broadway? I could be wrong, ultimately I just hope she's okay and that nothing tragic happened to trigger all of this. When I think back on different things she said over the years, I remember when Ultraviolence was being rolled out and she said made a statement in an interview, along the lines about how she didn't want anyone to hear it. I really do believe she struggles with Fame and all that comes with it, and now that her sister's baby has been born, maybe she's realizing that she wants to dedicate her life to other things right now. Sorry for rambling, my head is spinning right now, I just really truly hope she's okay. I was paying attention to her tone and her blinking and she definitely seemed sad in that video. Still, I'm looking forward to the new record just like everyone else is ❤

I think you’re reading too much into it. If she decided to deactivate all of her socials all of the sudden, it would cause chaos in the fan base as to why she’s suddenly absent.
 
She was nice enough to let us know that she is happy and working hard on the music and basically to not worry about why she’s gone. Good for her — sometimes I toy with the idea of deleting my socials too, so I can only imagine how it can be for a public figure. 
 
I’m sad we won’t be hearing from her, but I think this is probably really good for her, so I 100% support her on that.
 
I did not see sadness in her, to me she seemed very calm and serene (queen.mp3). She also seems like she is at a point in her career where she feels liberated and accomplished enough to not care about the attention.
 
Honestly, I see this as a natural progression as she has been less and less active on social media in the last years. Every time she posts about her own music releases it almost feels like she’s contractually forced to .

I have to say, regardless of her being wildly successful, I'm pleasantly surprised that she truly doesn't care for likes/attention/popularity in the end. People live for and die over that shit, and even more so as they become bigger/more recognized. 
 
A HUMBLE QUEEN. 

As bittersweet Lana’s decision to leave socials is (which @Surf Noir you brought up good points in your posts regarding her video which seemed a little off to me as well) I can’t do anything but wish her the best in her endeavours and hope to hear from her soon. The timing is definitely off - but this is Lana Del Rey we’re talking about. I think as sad as it is, the major takeaway we all should have is that she’s still present and we’ll still get her beautiful music & poetry and hopefully we’ll get little tidbits from family & friends! I’m hoping the hiatus does her well and she comes back sooner rather than later & I hope she’s okay and it makes me feel better knowing she has such a great support system around her if there is anything going on behind the scenes. I think it’s very considerate she even made a video to let us know what’s going on- I’ll miss her presence like crazy. ?

Yeah I agree. But maybe she doesn't feel appreciated or something so at least we can let her know that she is before she goes.

There's no way in the world she'll be without a record contract of some sort, for any length of time. She has one of the most reliable and loyal fanbases in the world, who may not stream her songs in the billions, but will buy physical product in multiple formats (as well as sell out any tours/merch/etc). She can pick and choose who she wants to work with, or even go indie and just take all the money herself.

I love her so much. This takes me back to OG days when we barely knew anything about her.. if she wants that privacy & sense of safety again, she more-than deserves it. Can't believe people are crying over this lol... I mean first of all, there's no doubt in my mind she'll return to social media in some form within the next year. Secondly, she's a person like the rest of us - we'll be fine without her random selfies and updates??? She made it clear that she's not quitting her career. There is still poetry and music to come. Just no social media presence for now, which is fine... it's about the art anyway - which I think is her point / some of the reasoning behind her decision. I don't blame her at all & honestly I'm surprised she didn't do this sooner. 

I'm not much of a social media person (unless you count here) so I understand her decision. I can't imagine how it must feel like to have that much hate thrown at you, and I guess after a while of having it, you don't really know how to ignore it. Wish all the best for her

Honestly I’m not upset about her decision. Although her success reached a high due to social media when VG gained popularity online, it was in a different way. She’s become sorta over exposed in the last years and gone were the days where there was mystery and glamour to her. Like during the Tropico/UV era when she had little under 3M followers and would post on Instagram once in a blue moon and it would automatically be iconic (besides the PWYC mv ) Maybe she’ll finally stop letting social media influence her and some of the lackluster tracks she’s been releasing, all tea no shade; and we can sorta get the old Lana back.
 
She kinda hinted to this back in 2017/18 when she deleted all her old tweets so it was imminent.

Because maybe for her own piece of mind she actually wants the accounts gone, maybe to her that is actually a proper break. Not just pretending they don’t exist by leaving them not updated for a year (or whatever it will be).
