I just can't stand Kehlani and Tinashe acting like they're the moral supremes when they literally also were posting pictures of protesters where they are clearly identifiable...

I know this is not the right thread, but here I go.

Not for nothing, I thought that Tinashe’s approach to having Lana take down that video was a bit silly. I agree that Lana shouldn’t have posted that video in the first place, that was very clumsy and insensitive on her part. However, calling her out on Twitter over it was counterproductive. I very much think that Tinashe felt like this video was actually harmful, but by making it so public she definitely brought unwanted attention to the video and prompted people to look up for it, like the whole point was to avoid these people getting recognized, yet she indirectly promoted it.

I honestly believe that it would’ve been much smarter for her to DM Lana in private and be like "Yo Lana, you should take down your video, because it’s actually harmful and you're putting these people’s lives at risk", I’m sure Lana would’ve taken it down anyway, and rightly so.

To me this just goes to show that call out/gatekeeping culture can sometimes actually be counterproductive.

I hope the good sis releases a single in the next month or so to divert all this negative attention she's been receiving lately into what she actually does best: make music.

I love Kehlani, but she was 100% just tryna get cool points off Lana. And tinashe...well she’s gotta make people remember she exists somehow. Lana was reckless for posting that, but They could have easily privately hit lana up, especially since they were claiming her making it public was dangerous. So like...why bring even more attention to it?

But anyways if I were Lana I’d be locking myself in the house right now and not coming out or going online for a long while.

Lana’s popularity is low right now, but I don’t think the album will be postponed. Or if it is, it won’t be her own decision. The album is about not giving a fuck about what other people think of her, writing the way she wants to, without caring about the critics. That was the whole point of her "controversial" post. So it wouldn’t make sense to postpone it, on the other hand, releasing it even with all the hate would prove she’s fighting to be accepted as she is.

And in total honesty, people will always find a way to shit on her now. Kehlani called out Lana for posting a video in support of the protests, even though she’s literally been doing the same all over her social media (retweeting on Twitter, posting pics and videos on Instagram). And faces are clearly recognisable on her posts too. She just wanted to call out Lana because she’s still pressed. Can people just focus on what matters at the moment instead of attacking Lana? Aren’t there more important things in the world than posting in public against Lana who didn’t mean bad?? Couldn’t she and Tinashe simple DM Lana to ask her to remove the post?? Why did they have to tweet it where millions of people can see it and misinterpret Lana once again because they don’t even have the context, didn’t see the post or simply because stans are stupid and the cancel culture is a normal thing for them??? In these times, we should ALL walk hand in hand. There was literally no point in calling out Lana. Many, MANY other artists have been posting the same kind of videos, if not worse, and I haven’t seen a single one been called out. It’s just because it’s Lana and she’s been controversial lately. This is stupid.

Lana has always been an easy pray, it’s understandable she has enough and wants to speak for herself now. That makes me really excited for the album because she will probably shit at the critics without holding back, and once again prove that she’s a genius in music and that the industry needs her.

especially since records and tapes have been becoming popular again, i hope people start to rely less on streaming as the norm. maybe i'm misinformed, but it feels unfair to artists that they earn so little from streaming. plus it's so scary to me that like if u purchase a digital copy of a movie on amazon or something if ur internet is out or u cancel your account etc, you don't have that movie anymore even tho u purchased it. i just hope we go back to reliance on physical copies of things in general

if people aren't happy with lana's recent decisions and do not feel comfortable supporting her, that's totally fine, but making up rumors that she died, especially during such a painful time, and acting as if it's something funny? what do people get out of being so reckless?

As much as I understand how the video of the looting was problematic, the twitter antics need to fucking stop, she deleted the video quite quickly. Can these weak ass people not concentrate on the real problem at hand and not concentrate on a celebrity for gods sake and not put more hate into this already tense world

Idgaf about twitter. She actually went out and protested, that's more than these other celebrities are doing. And no, she didn't post those looters on purpose. Ppl on twitter are ridiculous for insinuating that lmfao.

I alwas thought she has more appeal in Europe than USA

I don't think her Instagram story with George Floyd was directly related to the looting. Before I got on Twitter and saw the mess, I just assumed it was to shed George Floyd in a positive light. I've seen a lot of people repost that video (myself included), and no one is calling them out. The impression that I've gotten from it from the jump is that it's mostly saying "Aht, aht! Don't even try to paint him in a violent, 'criminal' light. He was clearly against it".

I think if Lana resists the temptation to defend herself for now and the majority of her fans will stand their ground and look at it relatively rationally (which I think most in her fanbase are capable of) she’ll be ok. It’s important now for her to understand it’s not the right time to defend yourself as heated as everything is right now and also because a lot of the digs against her are unfair trolls only waiting for her to snap till they get tired of it and find someone new. Sadly those who want to be mean to her will most likely never let that go again but that will not sabotage her for life. Kim Petras is literally becoming bigger in spite of all the accusations against her.

That is defamation of character and Lana should contact the owner with a lawyer and ask it to be removed and a public apology.

When good intentions don't cut it, people turn your tone deaf/less than smart moves into you actually wanting to be malicious, making it seem like said moves are you genuinely being ill intentioned. This is getting fucking ridiculous. I understand and agree with most of the criticism in regards to her approach, but she listened to criticism and legit took down the video. This is getting extremely vicious and tiresome now.

Lana sweetie, do yourself a service and just disconnect for a while.

I was dragging her the last several days, but I feel like there's a bit of nit-picking going on in here now? Unless I missed something new on her story, she has done her part in protesting (silently before others urged her to post) and took down the looting video minutes after she was asked to.

maybe queen will shift her focus from the US back to Europe like she did in 2012-14 because of all the negative american media attention

https://twitter.com/AriLennox/status/1267280441251213312 so now people thinks she posted that video to expose them and they could become targets? man this is too fucked up, they're taking things way too far and portraying her as a horrible person i'm so done

Her career isn’t over lol, even if some people turn off her for good she still has many fans. Her insta has a lot of supporters in the comments, even poc.

Once this all settles (which it will), people will move on to the next social media drama. She has most definitely said enough though, this is clearly not an issue she can just freely talk about so if she has any brains she’ll step back from this bullshit for a while. Her first insta post and then second “explanation” were clear enough, but she kept going on and on trying to explain herself, made a video, ect. I get it, she was clearly trying to clarify everything but it really wasn’t working. People just don’t want to hear it, so she needs to stop.

I don't see the use in continuing to berate her after she realised what she did was wrong and corrected it. We know she is very hardheaded because she didn't back down with her statements regarding women in music, but she did act on this. Peoples time and energy could be concentrated in far better causes than continuing to attack Lana.

Meanwhile Lana’s friend Jen is posting stories on her IG complaining about the protests not being peaceful/making too much noise/being too close to her home/making her neighborhood smell like smoke and being in shock about the Grove shopping center being looted...

    “The company you keep...”

I’m so disappointed in Lana fr.
