honestly as long as there a few bops I don't care. Two albums of piano and a lack of melody is enough me thinks

    so you're saying ldr9 isn't a disco funk electro pop future-house trip-hop dance masterpiece?

Nectar Of The Gods would likely be in my Top 5 of Blue Banisters if the chorus had revised lyrics. It’s all subjective, but I found the whole “I get wild, fucking crazy/Like you never knew” to be a bit recycled, cliched, and repetitive…but that’s just me

Wildest Dreams... if "inspired" even is the right word for that. The lyrics, the melody, the music video look. Sorry I know there's many TS fans here and no hate to her(!) but you can't seriously deny this. You can literally take ANY screenshot from this mv and instantly think of a similar (or basically identical) look that Lana wore before. Even the props in the backgorund are similar. I didn't need long to notice these similarities, pretty sure neither will you. Also, the lyrics (see spoiler). No way that this is all a coincidence. I guess you could take it as flattery but to me there's a point where inspiration stops and copying starts...

This is very true--look at Marianne Faithfull and Nico at the very start of their careers---they practically had to destroy themselves to be taken seriously as artists. Joni Mitchell has commented on this, and Tori Amos has written and said a lot about it in song, book, and interview.

It seems like the only women exempt from this were those that took on a 'tough bitch' image from the very start, like Patti Smith, Chrissie Hyde, Nina Hagen, Siouxsie Sioux, Joan Jett (and the rest of the Runaways by extension), and Annie Lenox. Nico would learn to take on that image, as would Marianne Faithfull.

Others, like Lena Lovich were so gonzo from the start, so original, that no record executive would attempt to make anything more of her than she already presented. They knew they could never fashion her into an Olivia Newton-John.
I agree with you, though I always saw what she was doing with 'Cola,' 'Wait For Life,' 'Gods & Monsters,' 'Money Power Glory,' and most of 'Honeymoon,' but many people are idiots and take things at face value, and in the most superficial ways. They have extremely limited cultural contexts.

Those (+ Arcadia) are probably the most recent songs she wrote (not counting the LDR9 sessions ofc) so I also think the album is going to be similar to those tracks.
As much as I want a total 180 turn in sound, I think LDR9 is going to be an extension of BB minus the unreleased tracks and I'm here for it cause I adore the newer songs but I also hope she expands her sound in other ways than just piano ballads with faint strings

ok we know i can't edit or design for shit but in essence:

think: fame, beauty, wormwood, twin peaks, cherry pies, alternate realities and unlived lives, storytelling, reinvention, transcendence
hear: ultraviolent country rock but glamorous bc lana with star dream girl by david lynch energy

Still would be SHOCKED if Del Norte County materializes as a real title. While it is obviously an incredible title, I feel like it was utterly concocted in Lanaboards Labs from 3 letters and a wave. Not only was that wild guess correct, but it happened to be the title of the lead single??

I'm really curious about how WCE happened cause it sounds pretty different from the last albums but I don't think she wrote it from scratch for Euphoria. Maybe she had a couple of more "commercial" demos from the Drew BB sessions lying around and she submitted those and WCE was the chosen one  cause I don't see her giving away potential LDR9 tracks for a soundtrack (unless she plans on putting them on the record regardless of their fate )

Honestly I never listened to WCE again after the Euphoria hype. It's an amazing beautiful song like Beautiful or YNWA, but not a song I want to hear over and over again especially on an album, only in a certain mood. This is also true for other songs on Blue Banisters, which prevents me from listening to the album all the way through now. I hope LDR9 becomes an album more like BTD, Paradise or UV, which even years later have not aged so much.

Tbh  I don't want WCE on LDR9  I'd rather have new songs. We also don't know when the album is coming & if it comes out next year it would be weird to have a song on it that got released 1+ year ago but you never know with her because she wanted to put I Can Fly on Blue Banisters   But you all made me relisten to WCE & it's good. If it ends up on LDR9 I wouldn't be too mad though , just wish WCE had a bridge or more of a vocally contrast between pre chorus & chorus but it's still a good cute song & I love the artsy lyrics
I wouldn't mind to see the RCS line on LDR9 & this actually made me wonder again how this album will play out since there is no mention of colours. Wondering if we get other kind of descriptions like " you are sweet like rock candy,  the rain was fire but we were wooden or sth like the deep icy sea  and so on "

The way Ultraviolence completely nailed Lana’s vision of “west coast fusion with underground jazz culture” — it’s so apparent and apt for every track, and sonically, it’s just so her. You can feel a perfect marriage of NY and California all over it.

I can’t wait to hear how location presents itself on this next album

To each their own. I'll take Ultraviolence's so called "messy" production over the flat/understated production of certain other albums any day, at least Ultraviolence had bite, oomph and an identity.

We'll see how LDR9's sound turn out.

I just hope the record feels fun, ya know?

For me, NFR had a carefree, just-doing-it-for-fun vibe even though it has some pretty dark lyrics and themes.

I’d love for her to channel that same energy that we’ve seen in her recent posts on LDR9 or LDR10

In other words, I really hope we get a record that embodies Venice Bitch’s “Everything, whatever” mantra

It kinda looks like a cryptozoology documentary cover from the 90s or something I'm obsessed. She's either looking for Nessie or aliens so you have to include UFB as a bonus track

Blue Banisters should have never been released as an album. I really think it would have worked better as an EP, where she cuts out all the leaked songs, or as a mixtape.
