i started listening to this record with more intention/ less distractedly, and oh my god. BAWLING. I think, what this album tackles is kinda like a very unique perspective of a woman, that can translate to, many changes in life that one has little control over, to being hurt so much but still choosing to still keep the course and being a good natured person (despite the many things) and doing so in a way that the popular opinion might not understand and even hurl scorn for, but in a smart, classy and matter of factly kind of sense. she sings about family, themes of time, character, and identity. she comes out steadfastly, and shining.

like idk about ur guys' cycles of life etc. but this album sounds like the dreadful backstory of the sweetest person you've ever met, and in plainer language, the person that you sort of write off all the time's perspective. she sings of it quietly, and does it with care. and it's heartbreaking,  cus if you've ever been in a position of getting a lot of undeserved flack after doing your best to be a person w integrity/ good character, you can hear the wisdom, the healthily accepted not so cheery facts of life, and the silent faith and confidence that a more quiet, and less boisterous person has.

in my own life, i think because people see me as sweet, and unassuming, they think i'm naive, or stupid bc of how happy and cheerful i can be, and for the most part, i am, I learned to allow myself that, but, very few people really know the amount of more, let's say negative things that i've gone through. i think they'd be surprised at how I can still keep smiling, and because of things i've gone thru, really emphasized the need to be a positive force. I won't scream it off the mountaintops cus that's my life, and I'm not gonna tell anyone, but this is online so I feel like it's ok to mention, it'll get lost in the thread, but I earned my happiness. and going thru harder times, I feel really appreciative of passing those tests of character.

this album, resonates w me in that way, and I think, it's a beautifully hopeful record, of how dare I say, people trying to be good, can still be seen, if even silently trying, and having that confidence of being who you are, without having anyone having to applaud/ praise you for it/ give you benefits for it. it's like an answer from the kind of people you might deem forgettable, the chance and comfort to being understood, and that's extremely powerful in our world, cus societally, majority of people are too quick to judge and have even less time and focus to really try to understand something, let alone step outside of themselves to really make space to connect (unless it was a peer/ group etc.)

I'm really happy for her. she's so real for this, and I love how we're celebrating it, if even just in fragments more thru music and sound.

Where’s that insane promo you and that other user are talking abt? Are we so used to her never doing anything that we think this album rollout had a huge amount of promo?
Look at Dua Lipa — or even Meghan Trainor — that is an insane amount of promo. What we had were just crumbs, tbh 2-3 magazine covers, listening parties & 2 pop-up shops are not an insane amount of promo. We didn’t even have a single MV pre-release, let alone a MV on release day

it’s true, but taking away comparison to any of her other albums, there still is SOME promo … i mean people were convinced she’d never tour again and now she’s doing shows

my thought was just that she’s done more than what the expectations were — since the expectations were so low

Peppers is finally growing on me. Particularly love the production at the climax of the song. Still having trouble with its placement on the tracklist but I assume that it has special meaning where it is so it's whatever. It feels so much like an unreleased Lizzy song.

reminds me of the last line of the full title of Fiona Apple's album When the Pawn... :
"And if you fall it won't matter, cuz you'll know that you're right"

i feel like lana at any moment could release a deluxe version of ocean blvd, after all, it's an album that has a lot of promotion (compared to other eras) and i feel like taco truck wasn't the worthy closing for the album, i feel like more is needed. talking about that document.... it's obviously fake, but to be honest yes to heaven wouldn't be bad for a deluxe version of the album if they make many changes to the song, the other day i heard a snippet of a supposed version of Say Yes to heaven for the album (which i never found again because it magically disappeared from every corner of the internet) it sounded super magical, lana screamed and then said something like "Say Yes to heaven, say yes to me. and now you're swimming by the.... Ohh, ohhh, AAAHHHHHhh" (If someone also heard it, confirm if I also heard it so people don't think I'm crazy ) I don't remember very well and it was in super lq, the point is that it sounded really good, now I feel the need to have Yes to heaven in a deluxe edition (only if it has that kind of changes that improve the song a lot).

i think kintsugi and fingertips are far down on my list not bc they're bad, but bc they're so personal that they have almost no replay value to me lol.

i feel like they've both helped me understand more of lana as a person, but it feels like reading her diary and it's not relatable (bc it's not meant to). like, those aren't songs that you listen to for fun

So, judging from the number of views on her Youtube channel (not that it means anything, just making some assumptions [also not counting the singles])
The 2 shortest songs are between the top5 most streamed ones (candy necklace, sweet, paris texas, peppers and margaret) I am gagged by the amount of views of the pastor interlude  I personally haven't listened to it bc I'm not into unsettling stuff lol Grandfather being the least streamed (on youtube), only losing to jon batiste interlude, also has me gagged. Maybe the title is too long? idk She really picked the right single bc everybody is loving candy necklace, that makes me happy Has Peppers gone viral yet?

My thoughts.....Audio-Technica AT-LP60X (approx. $150) is the lowest i'd go if hoping to spend as little as possible. It's going to be more kind to your vinyl than a Crosley (or similar) could be. It's a good starter turntable.

If you can spend around $300 though, that's where you can start getting excited about the sound and there's some good options for that price....The Audio-Technica AT-LP120X ($350) is very popular, as is the U-Turn Orbit (The "basic" starts at around $200, but if you go with the Orbit "Plus" (starting at $300) you can customize it and upgrade features until it costs you up to around $500).

I really like the Fluance brand of turntables and I have their RT82 model. One cool thing about the Fluance turntables is that if you start with at least their RT82 model ($300) you can upgrade after purchasing (if it's something you later decide you want to put more money into to improve the overall sound) or you can just start with their higher end models like the RT85 (for $500). For a little less, Fluance also offers the cheaper RT80 ($200) and RT81 ($250) that cannot be upgraded later, but they do include a built in pre-amp so that you don't have to purchase one separately.

So anyways, i'd take a look through what Audio-Technica, U-Turn Orbit and Fluance offer and see what you like (U-Turn in particular offers several different colors and Fluance offers a few).

    I'll shut up now.

I just kinda wish Jon Batiste was the main producer of this album rather than Jack. Lana wanted this album to be piano-driven and Jon could have done wonders if he was on other tracks too. I think like that because of his production and piano skills on Candy Necklace and Interlude. He put so much depth and richness to these songs than Jack did.
I want to see him on the producer seat of at least half of the LDRX songs so bad

I had to revive my account just to vote in this thread and say that this album outdid honeymoon for me I never thought that would EVERRR happen. I've only listened to it twice (once each on my green and dark pink vinyl) and I still feel disoriented like a bomb dropped out of the speakers. Like putting it on is an experience and I couldn't imagine just having it play in the background. The fact that I put on side C and didn't know what was about to happen to my psyche. Fingertips altered the structure of my brain

I'm in love with how complex this album is. I feel like with every listen i digest it more. There are more songs i like than others, but I feel it's an album u have to listen to all the way through to understand it.

I don't mind it's wordy-ness, bc I love hearing her speak. I also adore that it's very particular to her fans. Like if u don't know Lana's story and own every album, you won't understand this album or its references.

    My stand out songs are:

    The Grants
    Ocean blvd
    A&W
    Juda Interlude
    Candy Necklace
    Jon Batiste Interlude
    Fingertips
    Grandfather pls
    Let the Light in
    Fishtail
    Peppers

This album makes me feel sad, like a bad bitch, and like im there in the room present with them - hanging out like we're friends.

With this album, I feel like it's a new genre from what she was doing; although it's poetic and wordy, the production is super cinematic. I love the combo of her poetry with the cinematic production. It's almost as if she is singing to us on the set of a musical that only contains soliloquies.

With this album and how its been composed, my reflection on COCC and BB is that they were sister albums, and none of the songs on Ocean blvd are anything like that. She says she doesn't have a vision for where she is going, but me thinks she does know, and it was very clear with this .

Also fishtail gives me lykke li vibes

i find it interestingly ironic how a lot of the things that people get mad about nowadays regarding lana are things she's done in the past or throughout her career and nobody had any issue with previously

people are already getting upset at her for referencing black dahlia in the upcoming candy necklace music video... but nobody has anything to say about her recreating JFK's murder in the national anthem music video, i can see how referencing such events can be a tricky, and if they referenced, it should be done in a tasteful, respectful way that makes sense for the purpose of art, the music video isn't even completely out yet, it might make more sense once the complete video is released, regardless, i would like to think that lana is referencing her for a reason, i do think it would be distasteful to dress/imitate her just for the aesthetic or for no reason at all

Something about this album just feels so grand. It is, in every sense, Lana Del Rey. I don't really know how else to explain it. I love this album so much

I hear some of "A groovy kind of love" in "Margaret". Would not be surprised if that was a song Jack loves and fits in.

yikes, i knew people would try finding something wrong with that but depending on how its executed i think it's a nice thing to do, its always good to bring attention to cold cases no matter how old they are + honour & remember the dead. i also think that fits the theme of the album really well (don't forget me), i'm still wondering how its gonna tie in to candy necklace but im thinking it'll probably just be small references like wearing the flower and in that case its really not a big deal at all, can people at least wait until the video is out before they get mad..
