One person described Dark But Just a Game as early 2000s sounding and another person said it had a Beatles vibe? I have no idea what that would sound like

Spoiler

Melodically more like the Beatles but instrumental is more early 2000s

I’ve only pre-ordered one vinyl, and it’s the red one with Krug’s picture from FNAC. I think it’ll arrive quickly after the release day. :flutter:

Same, Clampi! It'll be my first Lana vinyl ever and I've already brought out my dad's vintage record player for it :bebe:

as others have said both of those are kinda right, and i also think the mojo int comparison of portishead wasn't TOO far off. like it makes sense why they said that

god i really want to put the album back into my itunes and listen to it again but i swore abstinence until the 19th :trisha:

Exciting!! I only have a hand-me-down from my sis in law, but it’s one of those portable suitcase Crosley’s and the sound is pitched and I’m afraid it’ll ruin the vinyls, so I’m not playing them at all really. :aw:

I got some heavyyy Portishead vibes from the verses and some Beatles vibes from the chorus (esp. the melody). It's so unexpected for this album but its so good

My favourite tracks on first listen:

White dress, Tulsa Jesus Freak, Dark but just a game, COCC

Other tracks will require more time with me.

Spoiler

It’s weird but I agree with people who say this record sounds less accessible and instant than previous ones. But that can also be a strength especially in regards to critics.

Edited by Clampigirl
Edited to put that small album detail in spoilers. <3

ok but what if they just rushed the physicals out for this friday?

If physical copies could be rushed, all the sales and streaming numbers could be her week 1... but I doubt it’s that easy to do. Hell, just changing a date for a single on all streaming services proved more complicated than expected, when FIILY and TG got pushed back.

You won’t get a warning point for not putting song/album details in spoilers. ;)

Spoiler

Definitely got No Doubt “Don’t Speak” vibes from the verses and early Avril Lavigne “I’ll never change, I am who I am” kinda vibes from the rest of the song. Sorta fun, carefree imagery

What do we think the promotion will be for this album? I feel like Interscope wouldn’t just let her do nothing.

Maybe she will prerecord some live performances and post them ala ally coalition

i like your ultra-violent swing :grinds:

Spoiler

Also I don’t know what people think but I find this her least commercial sounding record ever. Like the other ones weren’t either but I do think there’s not one song on this album that sounds radio friendly. I really respect her for that because it’s a brave move after NFR.
I also find that it sounds quite different to NFR overall. But it’s got a very cohesive sound overall. I do not care for the duets at all though.
