Mike Dean said he was a fan of Lana and hoped they would work together for more, which I’m sure they will. I think he said he knew of her because some of his friends have worked with her, so he’s probably more familiar with the hip hop side of her music like BTD, and I’m hoping when they work together he’ll channel that energy since it’s what he associates w her lol

This! So far, we know that Mike Dean is claiming (potentially bluffing) that his involvement in BB—outside of WW—is limited, and this makes sense considering Gabe Simon’s Instagram post about his journey on working with Lana on BB

So…maybe LDR9 is the synth-heavy (potentially hip-hop-influenced) record everyone anticipated when Mike Dean announced his future involvement with Lana.

Then again, with Lana’s speculated tracklist scrapping, it’s possible that her “future work” with Mike Dean past BB will make an appearance on the record. This could explain the new delay as well, but who knows. The uncertainty is killing me lmao

I don’t understand how Lana releases 3 stripped back ballads, teased a new piano heavy song, and everyone here is still convinced she’s going to go synthy hip-hop next. :thumb2:

it's not like production isn't rich now, just approached in different ways. COCC had multiple instrumental details and i still discover them once in a while, just because the production feels intimate instead of "grandieur", doesn't mean it's not well thought out

Honeymoon is the perfect example of a halfway point between intimacy and grandiosity. I love Chemtrails but I know I do because I love Lana first; it does feel like her laziest effort to date and it shows.

I do think that it'll be interesting to see if she's changed the album direction since/due to the alleged changes in her romantic life as of recently. It doesn't seem like she'd fully scrap any positive songs about the relationship, from what I can tell she didn't with the songs on COCC (mainly TJF), but we never know; especially with all the talk of her supposedly changing the album name again

a gay can dream:icant: I keep hoping she chose Mike Dean because of his work with other artists (and just his background in synth-heavy music in general), but it is hard to imagine her moving drastically from her current sound.

Then again, she’s also noticeably leaned into different genres several times (like aspects of trip hop for BTD desert rock elements in UV, folk in COCC, etc), so hopefully we’ll—at some point in the near-ish future—see some variation in terms of genre and production:dua:

Sometimes a simple ballad is better than full production for the sake of it (look at what happened to How To Disappear).

I still think we'll get the Cherry/Cinnamon/TJF of BB and also some rock-ish songs similar to Thunder if she didn't change it too much. Also I wouldn't call Text Book a ballad per se, it's more of a Get Free type of track. Maybe it's the midpoint where the album transitions from piano to mid tempo bops :brows:

I can see the tracklist going like this:

1. Blue Banisters

2. Map of LA/Good God/Whatever her name is

3. Slow song with a beat (Like something from HM)

4. Text Book

5. THE bop

6. Mid tempo rockish song

7. A soft rock ballad

8. Thunder

9. Something folky (not that I really want it but I expect it)

10. A dark/eerie sounding song (something like Yosemite or Heroin)

11. Cherry Blossom

12. Piano ballad

13. Wildflower Wildfire (even if she says in the song that she's not gonna burn, her rage grows into the next and last track of this album, her magnum opus:

14. DEALER (the screamer serve we've all been waiting for)

Maybe I'll try to come up with names for those other tracks eventually. For now I'll stick to manifesting this :thumb3:

100% agree. Also, I’ve never thought of the Text book / Get Free comparison, but it’s so true:eartha2: and yeah, I remember wishing we could’ve heard the full How to disappear demo; it really seemed to fit the mood of the song

Random, but if Lana were to put a cover on the album (and not necessarily if you want one in general), which song would you choose to fit BB?
