Rita Hayworth 197 Posted Tuesday at 04:59 PM 7 hours ago, barttttender said: I love Chemtrails. It got me through some really tough shit. I remember living in a hotel at the time (had broken with my bf of 5 years), and the album dropped, and I was listening to it in bed and White Dress literally brought tears to my eyes. Is it her best album? No. Is it her shortest? Yet. Is it the most cohesive? Kinda! This is a quiet record, but the production is on-point, and all the songs go well together thematically and sonically. Also, Chemtrails (the single) is one of her best this decade, and Wild at Heart is MEGA UNDERRATED. My only issue is that it feels incomplete (For Free and Breaking Up Slowly are clearly filler tracks, and the album needed a few more great songs). Breaking Up Slowly would have been so much better without u know who
Rita Hayworth 197 Posted Tuesday at 05:02 PM I keep fluctuating in how I feel about this album, on the one hand I’m eagerly awaiting (since I can’t stop returning here) and on the other, I’m like eh so what another acoustic album. I’m literally yearning for a little versatility on this album… don’t get me wrong I actually love most songs on albums since BB, but I’m left craving for more summer wine…. lol. Seriously, a bit of energy and excitement in this album would make me happy.

I think it’s probably my favorite album right now so for me an acoustic album would feel nice and refreshing after the sounds we got from Ocean But I think we should just wait and see what she has for us, that “Mirror” song really sounds promising and maybe she has something else with that style on the album

bluechemtrails 27,316 Posted Tuesday at 06:40 PM I'm glad that the album only has 13 songs. Albums with fewer songs tend to be more consistent, to have a more coherent sound. Fewer interludes, fewer well-known unreleased songs or fillers. But she has also said that the album will not be ‘half-cooked’, so it will probably be polished. But we also know that there's always something for everyone on her albums. I think it will become another milestone, an album that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

I love the album, never stop spinning the vinyl its so precious. I’m kinda over all the stripped back stuff now though, or maybe I’m not over ‘stripped back’ per se, but I’m over her version of stripped back. And I’m not an huge fan of the autotune…Even the bops on OB, Lana’s vocals are sometimes indiscernible, I’d have loved clearer vocals on Peppers for example. The mixing works more for that song than others on the album though (fishtail ) Holly Macve’s folk/country(ish) album Golden Eagle is a nice example of how I’d like Lana’s album to be. Not necessarily the same kinda stuff, but still somewhat upbeat despite the stripped back approach. Like in the songs Heartbreak Blues or No One Has The Answers.

(YESS HOLLY MACVE MENTIONED OMG) But yeah I agree with you, Lana’s version of stripped back is not amusing to me. But at least the Henry snippet as clear vocals, so many they are mixing her voice a lot better on this upcoming album. 7 minutes ago, Let the Light In said: I wonder if she's gonna announce something at the party tomorrow. Same here. 13 is a great number, and hopefully means no fillers/interludes.
Jeanne Dielman 5,996 Posted Wednesday at 02:11 PM I'm feeling pretty confident about the new album, actually. Lana said that she felt like she kinda lost herself - and her musical identity in a way - while working on the new project. Then, in another interview, she mentioned that she doesn't want the album to be "half-cooked" and if this means that she's going to go back to the original (more stripped-down) concept, then so be it. And I think that this is exactly what happened. She probably started working on "country (pop)" songs this year and they either felt too "mainstream"/"conventional" or made her feel uncomfortable while singing them (someone who attempts to go country, but fails/gets unfairly compared to other -country- artists; Lana being criticised for following certain "trends" in contemporary music etc.). She did tell us that she has songs that she *loves* and I think that "The right person will stay" with its 13 tracks is going to be a curated selection of the best of that work. Besides, Antonoff said that the album was "fucking brilliant" in early 2024. This might also explain her reluctance/uncertainty regarding the album's progress throughout the year. She probably ditched the stuff that made her question the entire project and herself all these months. I really love the "Henry" snippet which already sounds far more melodic, lyrically playful and, well, overall better than the majority of COCC and BB (and the audio is so damn crisp!).
