Blue Rev 3,055 Posted 16 hours ago 3 hours ago, barttttender said: Sorry but that's just whack. Rick Nowels co-wrote and produced some of Lana's biggest songs (e.g. Summertime Sadness, Young and Beautiful, Love). Even his throwaway cut (Say Yes to Heaven) is a massive hit a decade years later. I mean, this is the guy who wrote so many hits including a quarter of Madonna's Ray of Light. You don't just go ahead and dis Rick... As much as I love Antonoff x LDR, Jack has yet to produce a single entry into Billboard 100 for Lana. The only song that charted with his production credit on it was Tough, and he wasn't even the main producer. So, if anything - Lana's fading more with Jack at the helm than rick. Ask a person on the street what Lana song they know, and it ain't gonna be Mariner's Apartment Complex or A&W. I'll tell you that. Again, no hate towards Jack, but what you said just ain't right. I'm not even just talking about commercially, I mean artistically too. Lets not forget Rick was responsible for the lackluster West Coast 'radio mix' that was almost the official version until she met Dan - lord knows what Ultraviolence would have been like if he had produced more of it. His songs on later albums (TNBAR, Bartender, Yosemite) were all kinda disappointments and are not the best tracks on their parent albums. Plus LFL is easily one of Lana's most uninspired albums which Rick was responsible for producing. Honeymoon is incredible yes, but honestly he needed to go and Lana had definitely outgrown him and needed some fresh production ideas which Jack gave her. 3 Quote i'm flying to the moon again, dreaming about heroin... lvrdve 81 Posted 16 hours ago My potentially controversial thought on the unending Jack production discourse is that the issue isn't Jack, it's Lana. I've listened to a lot of the other stuff the Jack has worked on and he has a decently diverse sound and style. I've noticed in a lot of interviews where artists talk about working with Jack they all sort of say the same thing, how they're super comfortable working with him and that he's basically a kind of conduit for their ideas or a chameleon who brings their ideas to life, or something to that degree (a really talented yes-man is my reading of it). So ultimately, I think that the "lackluster" production on some of her more recent albums is a result of Lana as opposed to Jack not being able to do anything else as most people like to claim. That said, I do agree that she could potentially benefit from working with another producer or at least bringing on another producer to help push her out of her comfort zone and try something a little different.

I think every producer she works with runs out of steam at some point. She needs someone fresh new again, maybe that's why she (possibly) chose Luke Laird this time?

But she could pull a Beyoncé by releasing two country tracks at the same time it would seriously be a nice move: we’d get a good taste of she means by country or southern gothic, Henry would be finally out (as minimal as it might sound) and we’d have another track who could be a “bigger hit” maybe, in terms of Lana.

Honeymoonwitch 2,315 Posted 14 hours ago So weeks ago there were rumors of another collab with Taylor and now “insiders” are saying there’s a collab with a country artist. Kacey ? Dolly? Yet we have no prove the album is actually happening

Yosemitelover 14 Posted 13 hours ago If there any chance that the first single isn't Henry, cuz the info I saw from "insiders" doesn't mention the title, mb she decided to replace it with another song/collab?
somber 1,165 Posted 13 hours ago I feel like these "insiders" saying Lana is collabing w a country artist is given... If she didn't have features on this album or not, I would expect at least one feature to be country. I would be more interested in if it was a pop artist or something
