They're wearing masks and the pictures have this black and white filter, these peaceful protestors are hardly recognizable. Besides, a ton of celebrities are showing protestors' faces in their posts, I don't see any of y'all or a bunch of Twitter stans singling them out or berating them over this one specific thing? There was a clear issue with showing looters yesterday, that was incensitive and potentially dangerous, but this is not in my view.

Yeah, that's a very good point actually, that I didn't consider. Obviously my original post was purely hypothetical and wasn't something I would want or expect from her now, just to be clear. It was purely thoughts about how she could have gone about this situation, if the racism incident hadn't of happened a week prior. 
 
Originally, I thought she'd be able to express her feelings and sentiment through a poem more clearly than a statement (as we've witnessed) and maybe that would have been better receieved, but you're right about it being misread as romanticizing. My bad.

it's a long process to unlearn what you were born into. It's hard to recognize it's there, and even harder to unlearn.

wish u all would realize a celebrity social media doesn't matter in this situation. u guys are so mean, it's clear she wasn;t actively trying to be racist and she's not ignoring the criticism she's been receiving. be nice, the way to get ppl to consider what you're saying is not to yell at and berate them. you know she wasn't trying to be hurtful. u guys are way performative like u were ready to disown her without even giving her a chance lmfao. she probably needs some time to process everything. i'm sure a lot of us who have been discussing this are white, wasn't there a time when you realized you needed to unlearn biases you didn't even know you had? didn't happen over night, did it? or were u all just born perfect angels, immune to the racism we've been exposed to since the moment we were born? every white person is inherently racist, it's not bc we are trying to be. it's because thats how society has conditioned us, and we benefit from it. you need to actively be aware and critical of your own thoughts. if this is her first time realizing this, wouldn't you rather help and support her in making these changes?? do u really want to give up ur fave artist just like that? idk do what u want i guess it just seems like sad for everyone involved 

If I didn’t want some albums anymore, I would just donate them to a second hand store or sell them and donate the money instead of smashing them. But I guess it wouldn’t look as impressive on social media. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i’m sure she had no bad intentions with posting the video of people looting but that was a pretty bad move on her part
