I do hope Ben and Ed push her as a headliner this era though if she’s planning on doing summer festivals.

I’m tired of her sub-headlining. It’s pathetic imo, she has the sales, streams, and critical acclaim. And she always attracts huge crowds.

She deserves to headline Coachella and Lollapalooza. If I were Ben and Ed, I would refuse the sub-headliner offers at this point sorry.

Ok, so according to wikipedia, this is the plot of the movie, not the tv-series which came after, La Femme Nikita:
Sounds like a movie a young Lana might've had enjoyed, I'm even curous to watch it myself too now.  It's giving 100 dollar bill, heavy hitter, noir, serial killer etc etc.

It lowkey upsets me when I see fans saying they disliked COCC, BB or even NFR. I know some of you have gripes about vocals or production, more technical things like that - and I definitely have felt like some of the material hasn't been *my speed* but I can't bring myself to call any of her recent output legitimately "bad", Lana has her styles that she sticks to and while I may find some songs more interesting than others, I think all of her songs are very pretty but I am likely biased

I think perhaps in some ways the fan base has out grown Lana or Lana herself has out grown her fanbase. She is aging (and I don't mean this in a negative context) and maturing and the lyrics and sound have reflected that. I mean there's still some fans who are hoping for a BTD return to form or still have BTD+P high in album & song rankings and I get those were great eras but I think that too is reflective of how Lana has maybe out grown some of the fans she retained from those albums, but you guys are still here and I think that's lovely. You don't have to like everything an artist does surely and to critique it is quite fun sometimes too

I can say for myself I hardly revisit COCC and when I do it's the same tracks (WAH, WD, DBJAG) but I think it gets a bad rep, or the people who dislike it are very vocal because I think it's 50/50 split in the fanbase and you either love it or hate it. I'm going to try and make a more conscious effort to stream it and listen to those songs because I really think the album will get better with time and fans will grow to appreciate it more ala Honeymoon.

BUT I did absolutely loved BB and still frequent it these days, I think it's showcased some of her most delicate and transparent lyrical moments of her career and I am so grateful she decided to share those songs. Title track, WW, BBS, Beautiful, Living Legend, Text Book, Cherry Blossom...all immaculate beautiful tracks with so much emotion and heart in them. It's not fair this album gets critiqued quite a bit for having youtube rip leaks like it's not fair someone leaked all of her material and she really loved those songs and so do we so I am happy they were attached to a project that I felt was rather cohesive and really was like she was telling a story with the track list and it's like UV's more hopeful sister in a way.

Just my random thoughts. Lana is an amazing songwriter and she has been doing this for so long! I trust and more importantly respect her artistic vision and decisions. I will always be a listener.

The way I interpreted it was Lana being lost in thought while doing something mundane, like having come home from grocery shopping, absentmindedly running her fingers over the plastic grocery bags while she thinks about someone from her past. It seems like she's rerunning moments/experiences between them and is desperately trying to find some hidden meaning behind why they did the things they did. It sounds like she was neglected/ignored by this person and was vying for their attention, and is desperately trying to deduce whether their actions were silent messages to her.

this song wouldn't work (as well) without him. it would still sound incredible with Lana singing the verses too, but this is so much more powerful

i've had a while to think about everything going on and i think a huge public death like this rly interestingly diffuses grief in sm ways - a lot of people reliving personal bereavements, others angered by grief for colonised peoples - i do think it's really important to use this moment to reflect on it all, as well as be conscious of and compassionate for all the very real shit that has happened (@IanadeIrey and @Sportscruiser explained that so well). i feel a lot of sympathy for everyone rn, it's just so very human and makes me feel close to a lot of u guys actually, like i think most people in this thread aren't being malicious at all, just feeling the waves differently <3 but we definitely should be able to hold more space for differing feelings, ESP on topics like this (does not apply if u come for lana's early laptop demos). and im just quite hungover and vulnerable rn lmao

look we all went through the 2015 hate phase bc she was clearly a d-grade copycat, but we're well past that and i just... cannot get into her
her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, her lyrics are usually so cringy, on paper they are sometimes good but then her delivery ruins it, and her entire persona is just. I can't stand her. I know a lot of people really liked her last album, but I just can't get into it

she managed to turn that musty, country-reeking song into a beautiful genre-bending soft rock/jazz masterpiece... pls... should have put new lyrics on it and created a new instant classic

I’ve thought the same thing about French Restaurant and Cult Leader. They are buzzing with the energy that got me hooked on her in the first place. I know she’s getting older and so am I (I’m one year younger than her), so that intensity isn’t as present as it was ten years ago…but even lyrically, there was something so different about her unlike any other artist. I love all her stuff but her newer albums don’t have that bite, that edge. I last heard it on Honeymoon. I miss it but understand if she’s moved on and doesn’t want to return to that darkness. Sometimes it’s a lonely place to be. I do miss it though. I feel she’s capable of anything. “I can do that. I can do anything,” - My Bedroom is a Sacred Place now… I believe her. I think she can do that. Something different. I’m perched.

I know what you mean, it's a sense of urgency, a breaking point, and an uncertainty about which way it will go. Everything hangs in the balance.

I feel emotional vulnerability in COCC and the new BB songs, but perhaps not that urgency and tension about what comes next. The new material feels more like looking back after all the drama has already played out.

I don't think she is pulling back from writing about challenging emotions so much as maybe she's just not living on the razor's edge these days. French Restaurant if I'm reading it right is basically a suicide note. I have no idea what her real life is like, but everything we've seen lately seems like a more relaxed, joyful not-bothered period. I doubt we will get wrenching tension in LDR9 because she's just somewhere else. But it could be a time of really expansive creativity and warmth, musically speaking.
