And she really doesn't. Someone already mentioned that the younger fans have no idea about Lana's impact from 2011-15/16. She was so enigmatic and the albums and Tropico really sent you into a completely different world. It was so exciting.
To me, all of that is gone. NFR onwards aren't that exciting anymore. I listen to BTD, P, UV, HM to dive into different worlds. If I need some pleasant noise in the background while studying I might listen to the rest.
I'm not attacking Lana. I hope she is happy where she and with what she is doing is right now. But a big part of her music and lyrics nowadays just don't hold a candle to her earlier stuff. Which is also the reason why songs like TNBAR (demo though), Bartender, Yosemite, Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend and Thunder (demo though) are album peaks - they weren't written recently.

    Thx
I know she said she doesn't feel the need to partake in world building anymore, and of course that is her prerogative, but songs like Florence's Mermaids (which has a very definite story) made me really think about it and miss it

100% agree and only because she doesn’t really go anywhere else with it? Like sure, her old music was mostly about relationships with men, but she was able to explore so many facets of the relationships she was in and also use it as metaphors for more conceptual ideas. The stuff with her family is just “I love my dad, sister, and brother”, “I hate my mom”, and “karmic lineage”, and it doesn’t really go anywhere else? Like she makes it different by going into a bit more detail? It’s just not interesting. And blah blah blah obviously she can write about whatever she wants to write about🙄 that doesn’t mean it’s good though🙄

I’ve heard enough songs about her family/her dad, like I get it you love him ok

Same thing with the Patty slander, we have concrete proof that she has a poor relationship with her mother/they are estranged. She addressed the trauma--we can move forward.

I think her old songwriting (2018 and before) is far better than her current songwriting and it's somewhat frustrating that people are lauding her as a songwriting genius for her current work because honestly shit like BTD, UV and Honeymoon were actual fucking genius whereas I feel like a lot of the current diary-entry lyrics and automatic writing or whatever could be written by pretty much anyone and is only interesting because of the vivid world she created throughout the previous eras mentioned so people place it in that context and act like it's genius when to me it's more like margin notes

i genuinely can't tell if people are kidding or not when they say the old performances of million dollar man are good.

they're very uncomfortable to watch because it just seems like she's trying too much. love the studio version but i can't do the live versions

good for him, post-humous releases can often be exploitive, the artist isn't around to make decisions regarding the music, especially when it comes to post-humous collabs or old demos

I agree but I also think "most important female singer of the 60s and 70s" is ... generous (although I realise this is Lana's opinion, I get where it's coming from, and I respect it).
Important? Yes. Most important? Not really. The 60s and 70s were stacked with talented and iconic female singers. No disrespect to Joan st all, but I do think Lana inflates her influence just a little.

agreed !!! the interview is actually atrocious. especially for such an iconic duo… really disappointing tbh. and the photos.. while definitely cute it feels kinda lazy & maybe they want the simple vibe but idk elton and lana’s cover was like groundbreaking & i don’t even think she’s close to elton. so kinda disappointed there wasn’t more effort!! (we really ate this era so i’m not complaining just my personal opinion)

Most probably an unpopular opinion, but is it me the only one who thinks the pics look terrible?

yeah, norman fucking rockwell literally has the same chords for love song, happiness is a butterfly, california… not to mention the lyrics are really not that great in comparison to all that followed and the vocals not that great in comparison to all that came before. to me it’s her most uninspired record even though i still think it’s good because it’s Lana and there are some great songs
chemtrails is a lot more humble and unique in my opinion

After decades of silence, a woman is coming forward about a cult called Morningland that began in Long Beach in 1973. She alleges sexual abuse and claims that three of her abusers are still in charge of Morningland. To be honest what caught my eye about this article is the photos the woman provided, they look straight out of a film. The cult is allegedly still operating (tons of security cameras throughout and outside the compound) and its members are often seen wearing all white walking to and from places. Scary

The original creator of the cult is also currently buried under an altar on the property. Like

The Signal Tribune reached out to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) to ask if the police had investigated or had any information that could be shared with the public regarding whether people are allowed to reside on the Morningland property. LBPD spokesperson Richard Mejia replied, “Unless you’re inquiring about a specific incident that has a corresponding date/time and police response, I wouldn’t be able to search the criminal history of a residence nor an individual.”

According to Long Beach Development Services, the area can be used for a mix of commercial and residential uses. However, when specifically asked if the Morningland building, located at 2600 E 7th St., was able to be used as a residence, Development Services said, “At this time, the Development Services Department is not able to readily access the historical records on the property to determine whether people have been allowed to live at the property.”

Some of these are too cute, and they look so surreal, like she’s superimposed into the background but she’s actually not
