THIS! I know lfl is overhated in this forum but it's the most expensive sounding album she ever made. It's so crisp and I need that quality for this album.

That's been my point since the getgo though. I have literally never once brought up her lyricism or storytelling, or abilities as a storyteller. The only thing I have ever criticized from her artistic relationship with Jack is that her sound has hardly evolved since NFR. Almost all his tracks will feature a tinny piano melody, or tinny electronic beats, and/or muffled guitar, bass, percussions and vocals. People like what they like, I prefer a big, more detailed, production or a properly mixed/less muddy sound to these muffled tunes. I recognized several times that Jack has made career highlight songs with her, but I'm personally not impressed by most of his input, sorry not sorry. And newsflash, I love Ocean Blvd, but you can love an artist and not think everything they do is godsent.

People are allowed to feel like, at least sonically, she's been serving réchauffé.

This is not an echo chamber. Salut!

I don't think we need to use the term "real fan" here when we literally all chose to sign up for a fucking fan forum. It doesn't get more real than that...

I think the trappy/sexy direction of Ocean Blvd is a good indicator, she seems to be traveling and getting really into fashion and makeup again, etc

hoping that the next album is continues the trend of being a little more beat-driven and fun

she used some trap influences in OB songs so that means she has still big love to her boppier side. we can still expect more pop thing from her

and I say the VB part. I'm dying for lana with beats. It's been too long.

a full album with songs like Jimmy, VB, summer bummer, summertime sadness, doin' time, high by the beach, off to the races, national anthem, don't call me angel

Can we please manifest this instead of yet another slow-burn record? We need lana on the tadio

Honestly as much as I'd love the second book I don't think it looks good after the laptop situation and all... Right now she's touring even if not officially, to me that doesn't read as an appropriate season for her to be introspective. Poetry takes time—and solitude I guess.

I would love something wordy but with structure. A some songs on OB were gorgeous and the Melodies were exceptional.

like in kingstugi the pre chorus (daddy I miss them)

fingertips (like the waves in the sea, call me Aphrodite)

i want more of that with a bit more structure

    and of course bridges

You see lazy, I see a deliberate attempt at not conforming with the status quo. Context is everything and in this situation, Lana was facing serious criticism in regards to her physical appearance and weight gain: from media outlets to even Azealia Banks, there were a lot of people mocking and scrutinizing her body and I see those 3 covers as representation of “I don’t give a fuck about whether you find this beautiful or not, these songs are incredibly personal and encompass a lot of raw, ugly truths and I don’t want the covers to be polished”.

although i'm not necessarily manifesting that particular genre, it's important to note that country / folk doesn't have to be all bare, twangy guitars and singing
about ranches! just look at what lee hazlewood did, especially his work w/ nancy sinatra! i believe it's referred to as "cowboy psychedelia" and "saccharine underground".

and his solo work is beautiful too

i'd be more than happy with an album of more "produced" and out-there/psychedelic country influenced songs, along with a spattering of more classic country style songs - i mean, it is lana after all, and the collaborative work we've heard between her and nikki lane are very much in that classic vein. i also believe now that lana's lyricism is at a point where those more stripped back songs can stand on their own two feet because there'll be some amazing lyrics to carry them. for me, 'stripped back' is only a problem when 1) it's every single song on the album [just bc i can get bored] and 2) the lyrics and/or vocal performance offer very little of interest, so that it's just like listening to nothingness. but now lana's vocals are better than ever, as are her lyrics, so i'd be fine with a number of those stripped back songs.

that being said idc if she does country or industrial swing or heavy metal jazz, i have so much faith after the perfection that was Ocean Blvd

i keep saying that the acoustic guitar in the first half of a&w is very reminiscent of kurt cobain's demos... that would be a really cool sound for her, and would also be reminiscent of some of her more acoustic/folky tracks from 2007 such as for k, pt. 2 and get drunk
