Lana could have released an 11-track album if she had wanted to. Living Legend was written for a motherly figure; Cherry Blossom is a lullaby to an unborn child. Thematically both songs are connected to the darkness of Wildflower Wildfire and could also be connected to the potential sweetness (sisterly/familial love?) of Sweet Carolina. I don't see how they're out of place. And I certainly wouldn't jump into conclusions about the "cohesiveness" of the album until I get the chance to listen to the entire album in sequence and fill in the gaps.

We truly don’t even know this. She secretly remastered the buzz singles when Arcadia dropped , and I doubt anyone ever leaked those demos you named in their highest qualities. So if anything they’ll be properly mastered on the album and sound fresh.

I know this has been discussed before but I just listened to wildflower wildfire for first time in car off the blue banisters pre order on Apple Music and it is literally an entirely different mix , it’s so good and polished it almost sounds fully re recorded (but I don’t think it is). Iconic!

I know that you were just kidding but it got me thinking about how much we need proper bridges on this album. None of the 4 songs we have so far have the classical verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structure. They all kinda stop after the second chorus and a somewhat short outro. Mostly, this has been the case since Norman Fucking Rockwell, except for songs like Dance Till We Die or Not All Who Wander Are Lost, but even for the songs on Chemtrails which do have a bridge, it usually has the same chords, or even the same lyrics and/or melody as the verses, which used not to be the case up until Lust For Life. So I'm hoping that listening back to her older unreleased songs made her realize how cool having proper bridges is, and how she needs to bring them back I mean the bridge is arguably the best part of most of her older songs

@DCooper Arcadia's synths remind me of Badalamenti's main theme for Twin Peaks!

@Future Jazz Great insightful writing. To be quite honest, I am not expecting a typical "bop" on the album - at least not something similar to, say, Cherry/Cinnamon Girl/Tulsa Jesus Freak/High by the Beach. The interlude underlines the spaghetti western influence on the first tracks of the album - particularly Text Book - and I'm expecting it to lead to something quite cinematic so you may be onto something. But I always imagined Black Bathing Suit as a very moody, ambient bluesy rock-ish song; the trap beats of The Trio may be incorporated somehow, but I'm not quite sure we're getting an "accessible" sultry track this time round. I'm very curious about it because Erickson and Dawes co-wrote it. What intrigues me a lot is that Side A of the vinyl ends with Black Bathing Suit. I wonder if this was intentional or not.

Side B is also quite interesting. Could it be more rock-oriented? Dealer is an extremely angry song and tracks 5-8 seem to be the (enigmatic) "core"/"middle" of the album - and they're all new tracks! - so I'm interested in seeing how Lana goes from the dreamy melancholy soundscapes of Blue Banisters/Arcadia to something like Dealer.

That's perfect tbh, I'd also add that Dealer based on the title alone would fit on UV too (and vocally perhaps).

what do you think the 5 unheard songs would fit in the rest of her discography based on the title only?

    Black Bathing Suit: Ultraviolence
If You Lie Down With Me: Honeymoon
    Beautiful: Norman Fucking Rockwell!
Violets For Roses: Lust For Life
Sweet Carolina: Chemtrails Over The Country Club

The trap interlude will a time for us to reflect on the profundity of the first three tracks, and how we've pushed a sweet soul like Lana away to the point that she's left us, bittersweet, thanking us for the hate we gave while she prays for us to be better.

It's like the beginning of a rollercoaster when you go up slowly and you know the drop is about to come.

And then we dive headfirst into Black Bathing Suit and she starts to hit us even harder than we can imagine with every emotion possible.

I have to say it's really exciting not knowing what any of the remaining 5 tracks sounds like. We have no production credits, we have no insider information, we have none of the information Lana herself usually gives in interviews, we have no snippets from her Instagram account. We don't even have lengths. And I don't think statements like "a collection of beautiful ballads" or "probably mostly piano" are good indicators, because the direction of the album was changed since they were made and they were really vague to begin with.

Several elements make me think that quite anything is possible. Text Book had a Honeymoon-like production, in the sense that it was meticulously crafted, slightly mysterious, it actually had density. It also had a somewhat catchy beat. I was surprised when I heard it, because it was nothing like a piano ballad, and nothing like Chemtrails either. But the interlude is what really makes me think that something upbeat might be coming afterwards, which is reinforced by Black Bathing Suits being explicit. The following titles give no indication as to the sound of the songs they correspond to, in my opinion, but I think there might be a pattern of slow songs then upbeat songs from track 5 to track 7-8 like on Lust For Life or Honeymoon, so they could be that, building up some energy and transitioning into the rockier part of the record (Dealer/Thunder), ending with acoustic songs which might have been reworked, and mysterious Sweet Carolina.

All those songs could also be country as far as we know. They could be upbeat songs, or jazzy songs. Maybe even rock songs, as some of them were done with Dawes. There's literally no telling, because any of those genres could work with her telling her own story. I think that's the first time we have so much mystery surrounding the unknown songs

Despite all the songs we know about, there are also more songs whose existence got revealed by the tracklist than usually (5 on Chemtrails including For Free, 2 on NFR, 4 on LFL). Actually Honeymoon had 9-10 songs we didn't know about, and Ultraviolence a lot too, but that was long ago.
