I miss the days when the majority of mainstream pop songs were over 3 mins

I don't understand the charts anymore, I think the influence of Spotify playlists and algorithms has become too big. For example, a song only needs to be on a certain playlist to get hundreds of thousands of streams a day, but what does that say about how good the song is? Or if I want to create a Lana playlist, I mainly get songs from NFR suggested, but rarely any from LFL or Honeymoon (I think that's why they have far fewer streams overall).

Coming back from my hiatus to say this x100. There’s so many hidden vocals and details in Lana’s discography that Dolby Atmos would let shine!! Someone needs to tell Ben or Ed because Lana’s earlier albums remastered in DA would blow us away.

It makes no sense to compare Lana and Beyoncé when they are completely different artists. Shut up and just enjoy the music.

cowboy carter already featured a lot of soft rock sounds so i believe act III will be an even more comfortable spot for her, specially considering her past experimentations within the rock genre

I think it’s pure speculation since Renaissance. If the acts truly are Beyoncé’s attempt to “reclaim” black music genres (another speculation), I think that makes sense. Maybe it’d feel a bit cosplay-y and performative but I think she can pull it off, people criticized her for doing dancehall and embracing queerness in Renaissance but I think she pulled everything off perfectly.

This is a beautiful and wonderful album. Especially for black americans. People who didn't like it, if you look within I think you know why you didn't like it.

I love the length of the tracklist, it's needed to sell the concept of channel surfing through the chitlin circuit radio. I also find the overall message of the album to be gorgeous. It's like a love letter to the various genres that can be found in country music while also introducing new sounds of her own, and then she's saying we forgive you to those who shut us out in the past, but don't you dare ever do it again.

Country is a very encompassing genre. There are subgenres within it. I don’t think Lana’s approach will be anything like Beyoncé’s: the former will most likely follow the Tammy Wynette/Loretta Lynn/Patsy Cline/Crystal Gayle country route while Beyoncé opted for something different.

It's a great album i've never listened to a Beyonce album before but wanted to see what this is like and it just sounds like a big album the whole way through all the songs even though I don't like a lot of them and probably wouldn't listen to them again other people will like them I think. The interlude things with Willie Nelson and Linda Martell worked well I though as well.

I liked Daughter, Tyrant and Sweet Honey Buckin the most, Ya Ya and Amen also then Flamenco, Oh Louisiana and Desert Eagle even though they were short. BigXThaPlug should be on Sweet Honey Buckin.

Even the songs I didn't like that much, that I might not play again I thought they were quite good, I also thought it got better and better the longer it was because you got used to hearing the style of it and even though it is that long by the end I could have listened to even more songs

It's going to be massively popular, wouldn't be surprised if 10+ of the songs ended up on the radio all the time.

Miley’s collab is good but Post Malone’s
And nobody’s talking about YaYa’s having Nancy Sumatra’s These Boots Are Made for Walking as a sample?!?

did not expect to love this album as much as I have  I love the collabs with iconic old country legends like Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton, as well as younger artists like Miley Cyrus and Post Malone. I also think it's cool she included some collabs with some smaller black country artists. She did a great job of embodying country music while also crafting her own unique style within the genre, & it's refreshing.
I need more time digesting this album because there's so much, but wow.  Honestly enjoyed a lot of the tracks. I think my favorites were the opening track, the collabs, and YA YA. It's a very fun album and I think it will be perfect as the weather starts warming up

I'm so happy this album exists. it's completely different, but works so well. I can tell that the reception's sorta on the quieter side, but the quality's just undeniable.
the vocals, the sounds. you'd think it was some kind of disconnected thing, but it's seamless, and it makes me feel so proud for her. breaking barriers. and in such a beautiful, poised way too.

I honestly love that she’s just doing whatever she wants

it’s nice to see someone so established and successful with really nothing to lose try stuff like this

The opener of this is soooooo good

First off, I’m happy that she didn’t mention trucks and beer. To my knowledge anyway

    first listen, stand outs imo:
Spaghetti - love how it sounds like a movie trailer first and then smooths out
Riverdance is an incredibly beautiful song. The piano’s soft support at the start just makes it this kind of soft beauty. Something about it

ii hands ii heaven. An uplifting song, this and Riverdance remind me of how I felt listening to XO.

Sweet honey buckin. That expected Beyonce energy that you might be looking for in the album’s found here

just for fun is a nice song to unwind to. Very easygoing, but in a really, simple and perfect kind of way

Ya Ya’s great. That deep tone. So good

I know it’s a beautiful record overall, despite my overall avoidance of country music but it's beautifully crafted. Some songs are kinda lost in me in just the pacing(?) of it or the overall country styling of it.

Glad Miley’s on it, Most Wanted’s a nice heartfelt collab.  American Requiem’s an elegant song to open the album with. Bodyguard’s a nice listen, but I have a feeling I’ll be liking it the more I listen to it.

Jolene’s outro livens up the song
    Daughter’s solid.

I’ll be listening to it more, but heaven, riverdance, buckin and just for fun on repeat for a while first.

Was waiting for that fire. Might be the 27 songs or so, and I know this is probably supposed to be an album listen, but I personally feel a bit indifferent to the overall genre and it’s sound.
I know my opinion’ll flesh out when I take a more mindful listen, but the songs above are what make it for me outright.

I do appreciate her making something that we’ll have to digest over a longer period of time, instead of something that just feels flat. I think we need more of that when it comes to listening to music. To really savor and enjoy it slowly.

It leans most heavy into country and folk but as she said, it's a BEYONCE album. There's two specific moments that discuss the idea of genre bending.

As a Mexican American with deep southern ties, this is such a beautiful project for me. Her voice is the best it's ever been and there's so much to sink your teeth into--you can tell as always she did her homework + worked with great collaborators. The GP will obviously go for the more upbeat tracks, but the most country cuts are some of the ones I see myself going back to often.

A more than worthy follow up to Act I. I hope it gives an extra push in the industry to black country singers.

Also here's a nice quick read ("The daughter who eclipses the father" is a beautiful sentiment for this three act project): https://time.com/6960671/beyonce-black-country-legacy-essay/
