Agreed on AKA. Whenever she does take a break, she should drop that to tie the fans over. 

 

That being said. I'm not sure if she'll be taking breaks at all. She said she wants to die knowing that she's given everything she's got to give. 

 

I reckon she'll take a break after 'Person' because she'll get pregnant, but still be back in a few years. 

 

Bob Dylan released 40 albums and I can see LDR making at least 20.

I'd spend my life savings on the Mirror being an opener. I'm so bored with her album openers since White Dress. But I'd bet my entire life on the opening track being another ballad. Feel free to come and hunt me down if it ain't. 
 

It's been nearly a decade since she's opened an album with something other than a ballad... So, expect sth like Roses Bloom for You, Sweet Carolina part 2 or The Grants part 2. 🥱

that song kinda tell me that this album might not be even country anymore, it's gonna be more pop or at least -  genre-bending/fusion/experimental or whatever the fuck she is doing, i am intrigued that this is not the same boring country nikki lane thing anymore

I just don’t see her retiring any time soon. Could be wrong but she’s always talking about her muse being a constant in her life that follows her around like a bird in her ear. Maybe she’ll take a short break but I don’t see her slowing down for long, really. The only time she does that is when she’s feeling creatively blocked, which isn’t often. I think this album has just had a lot of labor and love and thought put into it and that’s why she’s taking so long to reveal anything, so as not to give away anything at the wrong time

I must admit I find her recent actions somewhat bewildering, especially marrying someone she has only known for six months. I am not here to judge, though. We truly know very little about her personal life or the reasons behind her actions. However, it is difficult to ignore entirely and not wonder if everything is alright with her. She has been known to go off course at times, so to speak.

 

Regarding marrying someone she's known only six months--I think that's sufficient time for some people. And Lana is impulsive, as I think we know.

 

Her time of life has to be figured in--she's approaching 40---especially since she's said she wants a child (one or more). She could always adopt, but of course she probably wants to bear a child of her own, especially being a Cancer.  

 

I agree her actions have been bewildering--but when have they not been? She keeps her own counsel and that's part of her fascination. "My mother always said I was a chameleon soul..."

YES. THIS album It seems like it's going to be Alternative/Indie, folk, americana, rock and some synth pop (like Say yes to heaven)... I want some rock songs by luke

I don't see Lana retiring permanently anytime soon, if ever--she loves the stage that she calls her home--but if she wants a child, whether by bearing a child or adopting one (or more), she's going to have to take a break of some kind---not that the muse will stop speaking to her because she's pregnant or caring for an infant. She'll always keep her voice recorder close at hand for ideas, as she's said she does. A lot of female musicians, from Patti Smith to Carly Simon, Kate Bush and Tori Amos recorded albums right through their pregnancies and afterward, while they had very young children. 

 

A lot of musicians--no matter what happens to them or tragedy befalls them--keep creating. It's lifeblood to them, it's their job, it's in their blood and bones. That's why we have artists with huge catalogs, like Prince, Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen, Tori Amos, and R.E.M., and more contemporary artists like Lady Gaga, Lana, Twenty-One Pilots, Beyonce, and Father John Misty, who are on their way to having huge catalogs.

She is currently in a high profile phase. If she takes a longer break, she'll be out of the picture and she knows it. She would have to start all over again and would be roughly where she was in 2021/2022. I think she will continue to release regularly, but then take  longer breaks in autumn/winter like last year.

I agree. She's at the point in her career where, due to her 13-year career as LDR, even though she's not widely known across America in the manner, say, Taylor Swift is, she's becoming an institution to the cognoscenti and professionals in the music industry—especially as she's been widely praised by Springsteen, Baez, Smith, Love, Nicks, Misty, Swift, etc.--she's not an ingenue, she's not 'fresh,' she can't be promoted as a break-out star or the equivalent—which the music industry loves, especially if female. 

 

This career period has plus and minuses, which a lot of musicians, especially female artists like Joni Mitchell (For The Roses, Judgment of the Moon & Stars) and Tori Amos (Curtain Call, 16 Shades of Blue) have written songs about. It's a thorny situation and time of life. Lana wrote about it herself in Arcadia and Black Bathing Suit. 

 

So TRPWS may play an important role in how Lana continues to be interpreted and perceived, which is perhaps behind her apparent hesitancy regarding the new album. As I said yesterday, she's got a lot on her plate at the moment.
