This is already ringing true lol. Anyways, I think it's cool that she's making the type of music she wants to make instead of leaning into what people expect of her, but I do think a lot of her fans will fully force themselves to like this EP and even pretend like this is miles ahead of Preacher's Daughter because it's less accessible and enjoying it gives them some type of sense of superiority (which is normal if you're a teenager, but if you're a grown adult and still care about all that then... grow up no shade). That's not saying there won't be many fans who will genuinely love this EP though. I'm currently 5 tracks in, I really enjoy Punish and Vacillator. I don't see myself listening to this EP in full again though.

meanwhile im over here trying to figure out whats wrong with American teenager? why her fans are so eager to sneer at people who love that song? or her more accessible music.
"hell yes this is going to alienate all the Ethel fans who love her pop music" why do her fans want her to alienate more casual listeners?
you can say they're annoying but is being adored really so bad?  it seems beyond pretentious for her religious fans to want to alienate a good chunk of her fanbase.

LOVE to see more love for her and her music! So underrated. She just released a live album a couple weeks ago and I was apprehensive how I’d like it but it’s actually pretty good. Spring haze and crazy are particularly lovely. 
 
what I wouldn’t do to have been able to see her in the 90’s on the dew drop inn tour or the plugged tour. There’s a live version of bells for her with harpsichord from DDI that’s SO GOOD.

Anyone heard the new (old) Scarlet’s Hidden Treasures? I hadn’t heard it before it was released on streaming last week, and I’m obsessed. It’s so good and most of the songs would have easily fit on Scarlet’s Walk in place of others. Also, I just got my red Amazon version of the 2023 remaster of Scarlet’s Walk and it’s gorgeous.

i’m all in. i’ve been reading interviews for each song on yessaid and am taking my TIME with this!! absorbing and feeling everything. i went back to Little Earthquakes and had time with that and the b-sides, now I’m on the UTP b-sides.
 
Currently, my favorites are Flying Dutchman, Winter, Precious Things, Mary, Honey, Cornflake Girl, and the live version of Sugar on Venus Live, Still Orbiting (I was curious and went ahead!!) — but I love every song. 
 
I really am obsessed with the live version of Sugar right now. Oh my god. And when she said “I've written a song called "Sugar" about those people you meet that you'll never have a relationship with, but if you could have 25 minutes alone with them, you'd have this incredible affair. There's something magical and you want to merge with it in every way possible. Wow. I felt that so hard. I did first read that when I was HEAD over HEELS infatuated with a guy though and now I’ve come to my senses, but it still is intense. And I FEEL those high notes at the end of the song so painfully. Yeah! Tori Amos!
