Oh, I didn't see this discussion posted here, and posted a new thread about the Pitchfork thing, which may or may not be approved. On the plus side, Pitchfork are a constant inspiration to people, in that they prove you don't have to have been born with ears to be a music reviewer.

oh my god she is so amazingly beautiful and fascinating, the DETAIL she puts into her looks and home visuals is insane, she has such an incredible talent on producing and creating weird atmospherical instrumentals every time, chills... love her love her love her !!!!

in a recent interview or something she said she was just finishing the last few songs on it, so i don't think it was ever finished
 
anyways, i don't think the lyrics are all that cringey? "everything you hate / is everything i love" is a very interesting couplet imo. the production kinda sucks and only picks up towards the end, so that's a little worrying.

An artist is a human being. I understand you’re trying to look at this situation through a business lens but I firmly believe that if an artist gets caught up in this type of industry machinations, it will eventually creep up on them to god-knows-what consequences.
 
If she thinks the best for her is to quit social media, she has every right to do so. You think most artists actually use social media to promote their work? No, their accounts are ran by managers, publicists, assistants. Give the entire autonomy of social media management to any celebrity (the way Lana did) and watch some/most of them crack under the pressure.
 
Frank Ocean doesn’t use Instagram like most people do. People like Fiona Apple don’t even do it at all - and likewise, Lana doesn’t need to as well. To even think about depositing blame onto her shoulders about something that was detrimental to her mental health is quite frankly absurd. I’m used to not agreeing with your takes at all but this one has to be the most outrageous you’ve ever written. Good god.

The Realiti demo is actually the song that made me a fan of Grimes! I watched the music video she had uploaded on her YouTube channel for it once it was announced she would be opening for Lana's tour that summer, and the rest is history.
Visions is incredible too! I actually went back and edited my post to add a few classics from Visions, & I love Skin from that record too. Visions is probably a very close second for my favourite Grimes record, although I really love Miss Anthropocene too.. it's so hard to choose! x

Out of all her records, Art Angels is definitely her most accessible album (and my personal favourite too.) I'd recommend the songs Kill V Maim, Flesh Without Blood, Pin, Butterfly, Venus Fly, Realiti, and World Princess pt II from that record! Genesis, Oblivion, and Circumambient from her Visions record are staple Grimes classics too x

i think it's quite clear- not by her recent video, but by her choices the last 5 years of her career- that the last thing Lana wants is more promo. she would like to disappear and be as underground an artist as possible.

I think there's a few songs on COCC that nobody really needed or listens to, which maybe could have been released as singles or a short EP instead (Breaking Up Slowly for example). On the other hand, there are really beautiful songs like White Dress, Chemtrails, TJF, Yosemite(!!!) which would be perfect as additional songs for a deluxe version of BB. Idk, I feel like especially these 4 songs really deserved better than this rushed "era"...
