I’m not being elitist about people listening but I do think it takes a certain kind of self obsessed freak to leak music like this. Especially since it kinda seems like they’re out to get Rosemead. 
 
Also, on a day like this where it should be nothing but great stuff for Lana but she’s probably already extremely nervous.. horrible to think about really, I hope she doesn’t hear about the leaks until tomorrow x

I literally am not even tempted to listen to these leaks. I’m so excited for the whole experience, not bits and pieces here and there. No judgement for people listening, I mean it of course makes me sad for Lana especially tonight. But the internet is a machine

Ocean Blvd and A&W for some reason to me feel very much like lyrical successors to some of earlier/raunchier shit like Gods and Monsters, Cola, Sad Girl, Your Girl, Fucked My Way, etc. Even that Ride monologue. 
 
She's kind of flaunting being the other woman/her sexual prowess with all the "open me up, tell me you like it, fuck me to death" "fuck on the hotel floor" etc etc etc...just like Cola, Gods and Monsters, parts of Sad Girl, etc
 
but at the same time knowing it'll never really satisfy her & has knocked down her self-esteem AND her reputation. "love me until i love myself," "my body marred my mind," "wondering what went wrong," "jimmy only loves me when he wants to get high" and the whole rape/asking for it tangent....just like Your Girl, where she's all miserable cause she's not his main girl, the rest of Sad Girl, the Ride monologue where she's crying about being the other woman....

actually the piano adds a lot to this song because of how aggressive it is 

I never stopped stanning not ONCE but this is the first time I've felt excited for an album drop since NFR. I love her down but I'm so glad she's out of her Midwest era.

I keep forgetting that A&W is a 7 minute song and not a 3:30 bop. It goes by so fast

Hahaha. He laughed so hard when I read him the album tracklist, and even harder when I told him the original album title. He was like "Is she okay?" ... I was just like "This is why I love Lana interviews." He has taste, his favorite Lana track is White Dress, which I think is kind of odd/unique. The song he's looking most forward to is Taco Truck. 
 
I think it's interesting that a lot of people tie the "Jimmy jimmy coco puff" line directly to Nelly, and don't even realize it's an older song.

My brother, who's not a huge Lana fan but is mostly just intrigued/fascinated by her (I'd say he's slowly getting into her music), called me today and mentioned "I listened to A&W this morning since you've been raving about it. It was interesting..."
 
I asked him his review, he said "I got to the 3... 3 and a half minute mark and I just thought to myself... 'This woman is very unsettled...', like, you can tell she's been going through something for a very long time and it's coming to a head... She seems slightly unhinged... And then suddenly, the song morphed into industrial trap and she was rapping an old Nelly track. It was a lot. I think I'll need more time with it."
