Lmao huh???
fingertips (a deeply personal song with 10 verses and no chorus)
kintsugi (another deeply personal song that goes for 5 minutes with no attempt for mass accessibility)
The Grants
wildflower wildfire (chopped drums)
text book (slowing down in the chorus on an opening track and single for an album)
blue banisters
white dress (tame??)
wild at heart/if you lie down with me/black bathing suit/dealer/living legend/tulsa/DBJAG/dance till we die (tame???)
a&w (tame?)
ocean blvd
nothing about this gives "tame" lyrically or sonically - post norm she started including actual details up to the actual names of her innermost family and the music has only doubled down in its lack of accessibility. contrasted to something like UV/honeymoon -> LFL releasing COCC, BB, and NFR does not at all seem "tame" so what is this "it's quite obvious" there's not contradictions here y'all just have no critical thinking skills
also jack didn't work only any of BB or like 5 of the songs of OB and on the ones he did (on OB) there were many other producers involved as well

...and why is it Happiness is a butterfly?
rick x lana x jack is truly the production dream team and I want it BACK
the guitar, the synths, the piano, the slight crescendo and then fall on the vocals during the "ooh ooh ooh!"
it's everythingggggg
ultraviolence for me is a veryyyyy close second...that bridge...the strings...the fucked my way up to the top backing vocals in the last chorus...ughhhh

Rarely discussed but something I'd like to talk about is Lana owning her master recording rights and licensing them to Interscope/Polydor for her entire career...
Lana Ben and Ed were truly each other's dream team and special credit to them for buying her out of her old label and getting the rights to AKA because it seemed to teach her an important lesson when she signed with Interscope...I'd just like to bask in her win
It also makes me wonder about the resulting wealth that comes from owning those recordings AND having songwriting publishing rights...especially when she can still do 87,000 US pure sales in debut week in 2023 and 58,500 of those were $40 vinyls...the royalties have to be insane
She's backed off the gaudy displays of wealth in recent years but even just a quick look at her real estate portfolio (neighborhood names withheld) shows she's doing quite nicely and I imagine there's a nice lump sum of cash she hasn't spent
Compound Homes Lots 1&2 - purchase price $5.87 million
High by the Beach House - sold for $3.2 million
Tudor style house - purchase price $2.5 million
Vintage cabin - purchase price $1.17 million
Anyways thoughts or speculations on either point welcome

“Lana Del Rey Forgives Us” got me bleary eyed
I wish 2013 Lana could’ve seen this. She deserved the world

Her vision of country has always been different than most. She considers Ride, Video Games and a few other of her popular songs as country-leaning or with country sensibilities.
I’m not a huge country fan myself but even her most country songs (namely the ones in Chemtrails) are amazing and done in a very uniquely Lana fashion. I’m not scared of her going Americana/Country at all. It’ll be special.

You're right. It's phrased a little strangely, but she means that you start to wrongly believe that Safety should be the most important thing, when it should be passion, and trying to stay safe leads to losing your power as an artist.

She says she still doesn’t understand why her songs leak so early.
It’s highly probable that OB leaked while going into mastering. They can just look at the files, no Candy Necklace, mother in Fingertips is still not censored and probably many more details we are not aware of. Can’t someone in her team pinpoint when and how things are leaking. I mean…

'Americana' is not necessarily country music; a lot of the artists I like categorize themselves as Americana, which I love, but what passes for 'country' for the last 30 years is really country pop, and so lyrically repetitive and, to me, stupid, and I can't see Lana being attracted to country pop, except perhaps for one or two tongue-in-cheek songs like the ones she sang live a few years ago.
It does sound as if something's coming soon.

Where did she say she was going country? Unless people are confusing americana with country music.

Lana is many things - genius, talented, beautiful, complex - but also lazy! the only world she does half of this is in your dreams baby
I mean she's always loved Tammy - she had one of her album covers in the studio while she recorded LFL - and breaking up slowly is about her and George
I think she's embracing the more southern venues as a fun opportunity to sing the cover
