I totally agree! I also think that Lana not feigning “happiness” in the traditional sense is a testament to her vulnerability, which I view as a strength. She is always authentic about how she feels and I think that’s what the human experience is all about. I would say that she has life figured out in that way and displays an incredibly high level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

and on top of that, there’s this weird projection of trauma-blaming and illustrating Lana’s past eras as her trauma - which is super inappropriate to insinuate. Like, why are you being the one to put all that out on the table when Lana herself hasn’t? I get why she’s so adamant about telling her own story on this album because I can imagine it’s pretty frustrating and pathetic to have critics - and your own misguided fans - do that for you (and incorrectly/defamatory too).

Can’t wait for her to set the record straight in 10 days! 

 

it's like all of the tiktok stans acting like the lizzy grant era was a horrible time of her life and everything terrible happened during that time, like, she's always been fond of that time of her life and she literally acknowledged her trailer park interview for white dress?  it's really weird that they're speculating that her life was absolutely terrible when they don't even know her, and they act like living in a trailer park was the absolutely worst thing and that she was surrounded by poverty, drugs, prostitution, and mental illness, it's ignorant

Omg this is exactly what I was referring to. They make such bold accusations of what her activity was at the time, who she was hanging around with, and her state of mind, but even in the Dazed 2017 interview with Courtney Love, MOJO magazine this year, and like you said, White Dress, she’s looked back fondly and nostalgically on those years - life always has its blessings and hardships at every stage and Lana being the intelligent being she is, can turn both into beautiful art!

TikTok really is a cesspool of teens. What you said was only the surface. Teens aren't worse than us but the problem is that social media platforms where they can be anonymous or partially anonymous made them feel more entitled to and woke culture distorted their world view. Instead of saying "School sucks" they play the armchair psychologist giving people lectures and engaging in woke debates that are completely unrealistic. Not to mention the unintentional grooming of sex workers flaunting their money and teens saying how they can't wait to do the same. I'm Gen Z and feel like a boomer because at their age we had Facebook and Instagram but people avoided debates because being woke wasn't trendy and it was and still is embarrassing if someone you know irl seeing you arguing online.

I have a feeling she’s gonna cancel this album. Idk why. Or delay it indefinitely. I just can’t see her dropping an album digitally on the 4th. Considering she’s still making the tracklist it’s likely that vinyls aren’t even processed. Plus she isn’t in the gp’s good graces right now so a digital drop wouldn’t make any noise and it would honestly just be career suicide from a label standpoint. Ik Lana doesn’t care about sales but her label likely does. Considering she’s a huge vinyl artist and her fans buy like all the variants I can’t see them just skipping out on that profit.

I was just thinking about how the controversies have affected her the past year or so and like, I really hate when fans say things like, and I’m guilty of saying this in the past but, “can she only talk about the music, enough with politics”. Like, imagine being Lana and pouring all your time and effort into making incredible music for your fans and they just water you down to a machine that churns out songs for them to listen to. Like, I’d be heartbroken if I was her and saw so many of my fans just openly dis her, even when they often agreed/understood what she was saying (e.g. qtftc). 
 

Basically, I think Lana has obviously stopped putting a lot of effort into her eras and has truly started only making music for herself so we can’t expect any major budget videos or thought out release schedules. And it’s kinda our fault:(

To be honest I think it's for the best for her to separate from that, the toxicity, and put a wall up against expectations for her to keep churning out creativity for fans that A. don't even know her personally or understand the first thing about her life (myself included) aside from the heavily emotional nature of her work which makes people feel so connected (and I'm not saying she's above those fans or perfect, just that she doesn't need to listen to it to keep on living the way she's supposed to) and B. don't support her when she does anything contrary to those aforementioned expectations. You made a good point, I'm mostly just rambling. It's so easy for people in a state of entitlement to forget everything they've been given already, and to just ask for more. Ugh, industry, consumerism, etc. Regardless I think it's lovely and reassuring to see her carrying on and finding ways to be happy & share happiness with the world.

yeah i literally dont blame her at all for never really interacting with fans or even caring about her image anymore. she’s so criticized to the point that, if i were her, i wouldn’t want to be famous anymore. a good chunk of her fans are just horrible. its so sad.

remember that feeling we all felt when we noticed Lana used autotune on TJF and then we all realized how she used it artistically instead of trying to make herself sound "better" than she actually does like typical artists use it? i hope we get moments like that on this record. just the genius of using weird fucking things for absolutely no reason other than artistic vision
