I'd love to hear some psychodelic Lana again but guys... let this woman live. Some of y'all treat her like she owns you money.

Technically, we’re giving her money by streaming and buying her records for over a decade now so the least she can do is listen to some advice. :true:

The Car from Arctic Monkeys is amazing. Lana please take note on the instrumentals

This

the ambiance is everything, like it’s so cinematic and special

I just know Lana would work so well over instrumentals like that, I think I’ll pray till the end of time that she works with them (or until it actually happens.. :hooker:)

I find the last 3 albums different enough but even if they share a common and more stripped down sound/theme they were released in the span of just 3 years... a tiny fraction of Lana's career, it's not like she spent a whole decade releasing the same stuff. And we don't know what's coming next year or even what she'll be releasing ten years from now.

I agree that the vibe pre and post NFR has really changed but it's clear that she still likes to have some fun with the music either with more upbeat moments or more "experimental" suff (VB, Cinnamon Girl, FIILY, Doin Time, TJF which was even the title track at one point, Dealer, The Trio, BBS...).

I get why some people don't prefer the lastest albums but it's not really just piano ballads.

Also her first songs were acoustic with minimal production, that sound is also part of Lana as an artist it's not like she started out as a popstar :true:

Like a lot of us would die for another AM or UV and old tumblr vibes but unfortunately it's over but that's how it is. We grow old and so does art.

I think the only "young" or even tumblr thing about UV are the lyrics tbh. In my opinion the UV sound could absolutely still work with newer topics and lyrics. Maybe not with chicken running barefeet but you know what I mean... I just love some electric guitar and it works so well with Lana's voice and style in general.

In general, if I say I'd like her to work with Dan Auerbach again, I don't mean I want UV 2.0 or I want her to sing about being a sad girl (although she does sing "I'm a lost little girl" in Arcadia, so let's not pretend), I just think they created an absolute masterpiece together and obviously had great chemistry.

I feel like people who don't always say yes make her more productive or creative or whatever.

That's why I'm always praising Dan so much. I don't want them to re-create UV but I'd love it if they created something else, I'm so sure it'd be really amazing.

i will always enjoy what lana releases, i enjoy that she still engages with us by releasing music and will always support her

that being said, however, i see no point in her releasing music with no vision, direction or inspiration. we all fell in love with her for her thoughtful lyrics, beautiful voice or her well engineered songs. take away the inspired lyrics, give it stripped back piano production and just have her talking into the microphone, i might as well just listen to violets and not a new release... :delicious:

i love blue banisters but it was clear she needed to take a considerable amount of time away afterwards to get some form of inspiration, because she's surrounded herself with yes people for years with her music taking a hit as a result. i do want her to be happy though, and if i have to accept that we wont be getting another shift in music like we used to then so be it

like someone said above she used to take RISKS like her sophomore album after an incredibly successful debut was a complete 180, and it paid off. lana needs another dan imo :pray2:

Swan Song. It’s on my album Honeymoon. It’s the antithesis of hopefulness. It’s about trying to find beauty in giving up. If I had my way, I would continue to persist in all areas of my life, but it can be quite challenging because I can be too trusting too soon.":sadcore2:

I say it once again she needs a complete life change, move back to New York/London, ditch jack, meet new and exciting people and get out of this boring country grandma bubble she’s stuck in for years now

The thing is, you suggest this for your own personal interest. If she’s happy now and not inspired enough to work on future projects then I’m good with that, her life purpose maybe doesn’t revolve around her music career, if she wanna stop (for some time or for ever) it’s on her! She shouldn’t dramatically affect her way of living just to find her muse back and please us. What I personally don’t like however (something that a few people already mentioned here) is her team and herself teasing stuff that is gonna take a WHILE to come out. This is me starving.

not gonna lie, i don't quite like the conversation surrounding her getting older and becoming "boring", a "soccer mom" and a "country grandma" just because she takes a more mellow and mature approach to her sound, i would actually agree that i'd love for her to try different things and experiment more, especially after blue banisters, which i felt like was very lacking, but at what point are we going to just accept the fact that she's grown and changed and we're not going to get the 2011-2015 lana back? it's really sad that people are so afraid and disgusted by a middle-aged woman who acts like a typical middle-aged woman, she's not 25 anymore, it would be silly if she were to start singing about cocaine and co-dependency like she was a decade ago

honestly it really bothers me how people get so upset how she isn't "sexy" or "edgy" anymore, she doesn't have to be any of those things at this point if she'd rather sing about other subjects, if it really is that bothersome to you, just listen to somebody else or just listen to her old music?

You read my mind! I completely agree.

Thematically, I feel like she’s retained a lot of the same subject matter even though her approach to and frequency of certain themes has changed. For example..

1. Family: Gramma -> Sweet Carolina

2. Substance Use: Carmen -> Fuck it I love you

3. Codependency: Ultraviolence -> Dealer
4. “Sexy”-Sounding Songs: PWYC -> Black Bathing Suit

Also, I agree about not understanding the hesitancy about her aging or becoming an aunt, and I personally don’t think any of those statuses are even mutually exclusive with the themes many miss. She—like so many others that fall under her various statuses—contains multitudes after all, and her life and art really demonstrate this.

Even sonically, I don’t feel like she’s necessarily boxed in, either (not that it’s a bad thing). She’s very recently expressed interest in working with Migos, just worked with Taylor Swift, reached out to Kali Uchis for a collab, etc. In the same way that we didn’t confine her to her former sound, I think we can acknowledge she’s more than capable of (and seems to desire) experimenting outside of her current soundscape.

I mean, I feel like it’s expected that she would explore this route for a few records or so eventually: she’s been hinting at it for years (her covers of Chelsea Hotel No. 2, Goodbye Kiss, Knockin’ On Heavens Door, Tomorrow Never Came, Change, touches of AKA, etc.).

I didn’t realize how long this was until now but I spent way too long typing it..oh well lol

Can someone clarify that the album is backed up obviously on Jacks end and the studio? Because sky news just quoted’ The singer added that she was "confident" the book and the album will eventually be released, but that she does have to effectively "start over" with both projects.‘

please tell me she doesn’t have to record the record again

Lana only said that the book is lost, I'm quite sure the label has a copy of the album at this point and the individual song sessions are with the producers.

What if we build a time machine and go to the future so we can listen to LDRX... I'm feeling October 31th, 2027...

Just kidding

aka not jack, not her cali bimbo friends and not her jobless family either :stareney:

makes me think about the only interview she gave this year regarding her new album in which she said she basically has 0 idea where she’s going with it, has absolutely 0 inspiration and needs to be dragged into a studio to come up with something… like idk bout y’all but that sounds highly alarming to me :air:

omg so true, ever since she talked about that "automatic writing" i got alarmed, i know a lot of people here got excited about that but that does not... sound like a good thing. it sounds like she's working without an inspiration, without a motive, basically being forced to work while being burnt out already. i don't know whose fault it is, if it's ours as a fanbase demanding new material 24/7, if it's the label's fault, or if it is lana herself. i think she needs a break, she deserves a break. at least to do something else instead of being in the studio all the time, like touring :umadney:

I agree, a similar thing worked for Taylor. She was burnt out in 2019 and produced her worst material because she felt the constant pressure to push new music out & tour, but quarantine really helped her revisit her creative process and publish her best albums. Clearly quarantine hasn't helped Lana but I hope her Italy trip did.

When I read automatic writing I did no think of what you said. I imagined Lana being spotaneous with her lyrics, writing the first thing that came to her mind,  I think spontaneous is a keyword to describe the "automatic writing" she talked about., It doesn't neccesarily mean that she's not inspired but she's trying something new.

It's amusing how the same thing has different interpretations

she literally did automatic writing for uv

also there's nothing stopping her from taking two years off or something, I think she genuinely just wants to make good art and feels inspired to
