Tbh, at this point, this is the least excited I've been for a Lana record ever.

 

For one, the constant shift in direction seems insecure, as does the release date delay, as does the title change.

 

The new title is actually not an improvement over the last one. Hate me all you want, but Lasso was better.

 

Drew Erickson as a producer - snooze.

 

Announcing "two more singles", then backtracking also sounds like insecurity to me.

 

Henry sure sounds great, but also like nothing we haven't already heard on Chemtrails. (Based on the snippet alone). Also, she teased that a year ago, and clearly hasn't made songs that she's more proud of. So I'm not expecting "big" songs like Ride or West Coast or even OB, because than that would be her choice of single.

 

There doesn't seem to be a proper album cover yet, which also says to me that the album is nowhere near actual materialisation.

 

At 13 songs only, it'll be only slightly longer than Chemtrails probably, which is her shortest record to date.

 

Lastly, it's her longest break between albums (right?), but even May 21st sounds iffy. The fact that we have to wait six (or more) months is just excruciating. And god knows when the first single will drop. For all we know, she'll delay the album again, and drop the single in May.

 

It's not the best time to be a Lana fan tbh. Don't throw tomatoes on me, this is just my opinion.

I see the themes and tropes you've listed on all of her albums, including her family and her relationship to God, except the tunnel image, which failed as a workable symbol for me.

 

The Candy Necklace video also included loose references to the infamous Black Dahlia murder of the 40s but didn't add up to much; she seems to have thought very highly of that song, when I think she's done 'darkness' a lot better, on, for example, Gods & Monsters, Swan Song, Heroin, The Greatest, Hope, Money, Power, Glory , the UV title track, and unreleased masterpieces like Live Or Die. 

To my ear, OB just repeated a lot of what she'd done before, with A&W having the Ultraviolence Bad Girl vibe, and several songs being repetitive, like Fishtail with Tulsa Jesus Freak and The Grants with Terence Loves You. 

 

I'm glad you enjoyed OB as much as you did--and I wish I heard it as you do.

Also why is everyone acting brand new about her "vanishing"? She's literally always like this.

The album is 5 months away (if she keeps the date), we'll get an out of the blue single announcement which could happen before the end of the year but other than that...it's the holidays

For me Ocean Boulevard was her magnus opus (not NFR), so I’m hard pressed to feel as excited as I don’t think anything can really live up to that record. I do feel the same about this pre-release in the sense that it has been uneventful and less exciting than usual.

if it makes you feel any better i don't think he'd agree to that! obviously i don't know the dude (i only know... wellll..... what everyone else knows ) but i can't really imagine him posing for a camera

Her homemade videos were actually the real reason i fell in love with her, in fact my fav videos ever are arcadias and video gamess mvs so i wouldn’t say no to some collage of random archive videos, or even just a vid of her dancing, as long as its not anything like the let me love you like woman vid
