I agree with Lineage or even Lithium.

I think it’s probably Lineage but I actually think Lithium could be interesting as it’s a mood stabilizer.

I think there was an absolute shift in her writing around the time she started discussing Violet Bent Backwards and she’s heavily implied there was a hospital stay around then, and “With Lithium came poetry”,  that time seemed to mark her writing becoming a lot more inward (at some points a little navel gazing but that’s just me) and self searching. A lot less focused on outside recognition and if I’m honest, men. It started to regularly reference women and then motherhood which was never a point of focus in her work before, aside for a few mentions of ‘girls’. There was also, in my eyes anyway, perhaps not a ‘peace’ in her work but an acceptance of her current reality and an enjoying of it which wasn’t there before.

As someone on lithium for bipolar disorder, the meds and the diagnosis completely changed my life. Just my two cents on it.

I was thinking lithium ?  she was saying how that one word described everything that happened and maybe that was what effected her emotions and personality growing up and messed her for forever. plus wfwf is like the most revealing song.

I didn't "know" about her at all but I did hear Kill Kill a few times in late 2010, I think on YouTube, built into a friend's Bebo (lmao) page. Hate myself for not liking it enough to do anything about it ughhh

^ Part of the Pacific Group (of which Atlantic Group is a branch of) is also partly run/overseen by a man named Jim. I forgot she was part of that, there's a lot of horror stories about the PG groups and its branches.

Ugh #justicefortigra I hope it still gets released. When I caught her set at a music festival back in 2016, she told the crowd the song would be on her upcoming album. To be fair, she actually hasn't released a full album since 2015 and it still could technically be on her next album, but I'm nervous it won't since it's been so long. It's one of my favourites, even after only hearing live versions! x

I’m personally not a fan of Only Heaven, I really hope it doesn’t make the cut along with DKHTE & we get 2 other tracks instead. Really hope Sober & Gypsy Girl magically end up on the record, but at this point it feels hopeless.

anyone else think California might be about Barrie? the “flipside” and the “weather” references from Ultraviolence make me think of it. also she always made very American references about him despite him obviously not being. and in songs he’s often marked by her trying to help/look after him in his sadness.

I'm not a psychologist nor am I diagnosing her. Just trying to give a different perspective on her rants: Honestly, unless you're a sociopath, no one with a shred of empathy or compassion in their hearts can handle the levels of fame and notoriety that she has amassed over this past decade. On the outside it looks nice and easy to be famous, but going from living recklessly to having every single thought and action put under a microscope, she was bound to go off the rails. Clearly it's starting to negatively impact her mental health, and I hope she reaches out for help before it gets worse.

Arkansas/Our Kansas is iconic to me LOL. I love little flourishes like that that give off small town Lizzy Grant vibes with a wink.

We're not really going to pretend that this isn't another "I'm not racist" thing, are we?
I mean it's par for the course if you continue to stan, but that's what this is. Just last week this same sis posted her album cover, ran to the comments to let everyone know how she's inclusive and not racist she is, and then more or less said in her follow-up interview that that's why she picked it.
She did the same thing after QftC posting protesters, etc. Throwback to when Kehlani yelled at her for posting their faces

i feel this a lot reading her poetry it's all very undercooked and sounds very ~drafty.. which idk i'm not a fan of. some of her lyrics have this issue as well but i mean music is fine it's not solely based on the lyrics there's great songs with lowkey bad lyrics from a lot of artists out there. poetry is less forgiveable.

    drag her!

honestly, i used to feel like that about lana, i used to think a lot of the stuff she says in her lyrics is very self-aware but these past few months made me think that she's actually not self-aware at all and takes herself (and her art) so damn serious and is very incapable of seeing herself as what she is and not try to convince everyone that she's this great artist, this underdog, this loser who just happened to get this careerstart with btd, all of this is very artpop-gaga thinking so high of herself as if she was the living reincarnated jesus slash  immanuel kant.
i think i used to overinterpret a lot of her over the top moments in her lyrics because i didn't want to think she's actually this delusional but i might .. actually think i'll have to see it for what it is if she continues to behave like this.

this just proves my point which i've voiced over her poetry when she just started out: she's not as skilled as she thinks she is. the way she wrote them on a typewriter and like.. generally seemed to care more about the aesthetic of this all always rubbed me the way that we're going to get this pumped up balloon of pretentiousness without the actual substance of a writer and not just as in the content of the poems but also in the skill-full delivery of stories or images.

im an addict and I totally love how Lana constantly discusses feeling crazy even when you’re clean/sober, I find it really comforting.

also I loved this video - by far the most exciting thing she’s done for years for me personally. I love when her vision is EXACT and fucking BIZARRE. That’s Lana at her best for me
