I started sobbing when I heard this. What an unbelievably beautiful end to their story/legacy, of one of the most iconic and groundbreaking bands in music history.
I've always felt that their music was speaking directly to me but this one in particular perfectly described a friendship/relationship that's been heavily interwoven into my life for years now, and along with considering this as the final end to something that has brought me so much joy, this song absolutely broke me.
I don't like AI very much, but I am so grateful we are capable of harnessing it in a way that will allow us to unearth and polish beautiful pieces of musicianship like this. I love the Beatles and I love this song <3

Last night, Lana Del Rey stopped to meet Elle while shopping at Dillard’s in Huntsville, Alabama.
(yes, im aware there’s already a thread for this outing, but let me have my moment. & yes, I added a ton of the built-in IG filters to our selfie bc I had literally been sleeping in the car shortly before this and hadn’t touched up my makeup because I did NOT expect this to happen.)

The one youtuber I’ve been watching since I was like 11 that I still keep up with. She’s just so fascinating. Freaky and Superficial Bitch are classics! Also I was thinking about this the other day but Merry Trishmas is like a really good christmas song it’s so catchy and festive it deserves its tiktok moment. I still have a Merry Trishmas tshirt hanging around somewhere from when I was in middle school skk.

I know she’s problematic and a lot of the trolling she did in the past aged terribly, but it’s honestly nothing compared to what some of these celebrities that are still very successful have done/are doing (and she seems to have grown a lot). I don’t think the trans controversy was even a part of the trolling tbh, I think she was genuinely questioning her gender identity. It’s pretty obvious when she’s actually trolling (like her saying she voted for Mitt Romney cause Mitt rhymes with tit and she has 2 of them).

He had such a huge influence over my generation—I grew up in South Florida, so my family went to Key West yearly, and Buffet was a frequent sight around Miami in those years. Though I was quite young, my older sister and I saw him perform at the the Maurice Gusman Cultural Center, a concert which was recorded for his 'You Had To Be There' album.

To me, 'Changes in Attitudes' is still a perfect album, especially the slower/sadder songs, like 'Banana Republics' and 'Biloxi.' I still listen to that album, and so many of his other, like 'There's A Woman Going Crazy on Caroline Street,' 'Life Is Just a Tire Swing,' 'Come Monday,' 'Island,' 'Livingston Saturday Night,' 'Havana Daydreaming,' 'Mañana,' and many others.

Musically, he sort of became a parody of himself as time went on, but the 70s Jimmy Buffet never faded for me, and I thought of him a great deal when I was in Key West for two weeks two summers in a row.

I was thrilled when Lana mentioned him in 'If I Die Young.'

    Thanks, Elle.
