Is there any background music or is he just screaming and cursing gays? Yes, I think that's what carries it. It kinda sets the unsettling eerie tone that makes pastors bullshit intriguing But it's just something very random, you can hear Lana giggling and whispering while he's talking so she must have recorded it with her phone while being on the sermon more info on the interlude by BoZ

Thank you for your kind words! It's always my pleasure to host this place for you all, despite all the madness that occurs sometimes. & I'm very grateful he shared all of this information with us! It was fun having him here. What he shared was surprising, unexpected, interesting, at times shocking - but I always love learning new behind-the-scenes info about album/song processes that would otherwise be unknown. It feels great to tie together some loose ends. I'm hoping there will be more information to be shared one day! x

Hi everyone, I want to apologise for being offline when this thread started to derail, but I've just taken care of it. Moved a few posts out of here into a post graveyard, gave some bans & warning points, and hopefully this thread can pick up from where it left off before all the drama took place. So much amazing information came out of this thread, so it would be a shame to let it deteriorate. Please behave. Thank you, and sorry again that it took me a while to come here and clean things up x

Obviously! I'm only sharing info. The era is pretty dead so I felt like hyping you up just a lil bit

Manifesting HM‘s interconnectedness, LFL’s sonic variety, NFR’s acclaim, COCC’s cohesion, UV’s cathartic delivery, BTD’s novelty, Paradise’s lushness, Blue Banister’s intimacy, and AKA’s lively and unique spirit edit: obviously more strengths to these records but yeah lol

I'm also relieved that the music sets an unsettling eerie tone for the sermon, this sounds much more promising than a cheesy inspirational moment.

This is what he said about the pastor interlude “it's over 4 minutes of him SCREAMING, it's a very brain-frying moment but I grew to not skip it somehow”.

Sean is the one we have to blame for not being born a month earlier so that Lana could have scheduled the album release sooner. He's the one to blame.

@Kintsugi Scan a snippet of track 16 and share the https://www.aha-music.com link, that way you don't have to share any music snippet and we can confirm that you indeed have the album

Y'all okay with the pastor interlude like police didn't find human remains and evidence of cannibalism in his LA home that he sold in 2013

The pastor is screaming because he’s enacting Lana’s inner RAGE! But seriously - that sounds interesting, and ties nicely into what she said about how she’s “angry” on this record. I imagine that translates into moments of frustration, which Lana always channels beautifully and thoughtfully into her songwriting.

maybe the reason why boz thinks the track which features bleachers is bad is because it shades dua lipa GUYS I CRACKED THE FUCKING CODE

American Whore/pastor interlude reminds me of the iconic switch between Body Electric/Gods and Monsters in Tropico but it might be reversed this time switching from stripper to the church girl. I was scared of the interlude but now I'm really hyped I love that she giggles

Not that it matters that much but am I the only one who has the feeling this one will have a reception similar to NFR? It won’t carry the same “omg Lana is actually one of the best songwriters we have!” narrative because that has already been consolidated but I genuinely think this album will be the portal to a new stage of her career ala Fiona Apple where her albums will get consistently raved and talked about. I can see Pitchfork creaming themselves over this one (long tracks, conceptually dense, unusual use of features, etc) as opposed to the most modest reaction Chemtrails and BB had. This one feels more ambitious and perhaps a more incisive statement from her.
