Y'all need to remember that Lana likes to just say random dates for her album releases without them actually being planned. The album's def not fully finished yet so she just said a random date in the middle of next year thinking it'll probs be ready by then. She probs thought May 21st sounded cute. There's no way her label would let her release it on a random wednesday, and if they did then it wouldn't take 6 months considering it wouldn't matter if vinyls were ready or not.

@111 said the album was finished back in September, so the question is why she wants to wait so long before releasing it.

Hoping I’m not wrong because I really don’t want another BB. For me, personally, it’s just my least favorite album. I barely ever listen to it. She also mentioned this album was less self-revealing, so while I understand the aesthetic gives off BB 2.0, I think the reaction is a lot of PTSD from people who didn’t like BB. 
 

I guess I understand with the Henry snippet. But it’s really hard to tell the entirety of a song with just 30s.

So far, I don't see how anyone can guess with any acuity that TRPWS will be anything like BB or be a BB 2.0—Henry, to me, certainly doesn't sound anything like anything on BB, though yes, we've only heard a snippet—which I like—and we have no idea where the song will go. Look at how different HIAB turned out to be from the snippet, and to a lesser degree, the BB title track too, which I don't care for, though I love the rest of BB except for the wasted opportunity the Ennio Morricone interlude represents.  

 

Though I dislike the title of the new album, I am hopeful there will be some great tracks on it. As I've said here before, with artists today, I only expect to like 2-4 songs tops on any new album, and anything above that is a pure pleasure. This was recently born out again by the new Father John Misty and Ruen Brothers albums.

I think it’s from the fact she mentioned it being stripped back, and the producers I guess. Also most songs are allegedly  older than Ocean Blvd and recordings are from around the time of COTCC and BB.

Then that's a plus for me, as I love 90% of the new or previously unreleased tracks on BB—it's her early middle-age Carly Simon album. I don't mind Beautiful or Sweet Carolina either. 

 

I wonder though how much we can trust or rely on that as any kind of a marker—to me, for example, COCC, supposedly partially or greatly made up of NFR! scraps, to my ear, doesn't sound anything like NFR!

Two reasons I see to that: six months for vinyls to get pressed and Gaga releasing her album in February. So, earliest the album could come out could be March, but it’s probably too close to Gaga’s (both are with Interscope and the label will want both of them to have a chance to have big releases). That being said, I don’t believe in May 21, but somewhere in May does make sense.

Tbh saying the album is mastered doesn’t mean she actually submitted it for vinyl production so she could have said that date to be random and decided in a week she wants to change everything about it which then will push it back another 6 months ❤️
