28 likesAgain, I don’t mean to sanitize, but just to give a bit of ray of sunshine here: - Most of Trump’s policies will not be implemented. Tariffs are just a negotiating tactic, and we all know they will not actually replace income tax - On that note, just like 2016, the biggest Trump legacy will be his tax cuts. I see him further reducing income tax on the top 3 brackets by 5-10% and on the lowest 3 by 3-5%. - He’s not gonna do jack shit about the border, because his replacement will need the issue to run on in 4 years. - Mass deportations will not occur, namely because ICE is understaffed and the Trump deficit doesn’t give much room for more govt. spending. Also, the fact of the matter is that most illegal immigrants live in Blue States, and they won’t be helping Trump. - Gender affirming healthcare (and healthcare in general) will take the biggest hit 😭💔. It’ll now be a state issue, like abortion. - Abortion had a relatively decent night. The majority of Trump voters also voted to protect or expand abortion rights (except for Florida's “super majority” requirement) and Montana. Trump’s legacy thus far has been one of ineffectiveness. That trend will continue. It’s just uniquely horrible that he will be able to cement a 6-3 Supreme Court conservative lean, which will have long term effects, but not immediate quality of life implications yet. The media will prey on your outrage for clicks, do not let Trump take over your life. This is certainly a sad day for many, and I am not saying we are not allowed to grieve and mourn, but this is the path forward, and no amount of tears will change that. There was no justice last night, but there can be mercy, because we can give that to each other 🙃 Signing off for work xx Mer.

24 likesWhat a horrible day for America. This is a loss for the community, the climate, the culture, and literally everyone else except maybe Elon M*sk. I can’t believe people are this fucking STUPID but here we are. I’m so sorry for all my American lipsters. I’m Canadian, so I can’t imagine how you guys must feel right now. To me, this is like a sadistic murderer moving in next door, but you guys have to live with this monster. Thank you to everyone that voted for Kamala, you did what you could. I was so excited to have a woman in charge, however I fear I may not see that in my lifetime. I’m blaming Moo Deng, Jeremy Dufresne and Azealia Banks for this. I sincerely believe BOB would make a better president. Here’s to hoping Trump gets stuck in The Black Lodge before his inauguration.

16 likesIn 2026 it'll be the 250th anniversary of the US...I can't believe democracy as we know it will likely be gone after 250 years I really don't know what to with myself today...I clocked into work but I can't focus. I'm so worried about the future, for myself and others, but if they actually remove the ACA I'm so worried for my family members who have pre-existing conditions that may no longer be able to get Healthcare because of that...my dad needs insulin to live and if the prices go back to what they were, idk how we'll be able to afford it every month

15 likesIt’s so interesting to see this happen in real time as a Canadian because, while obviously not American, I’m in the country that is the most culturally similar to the States. And it’s interesting to see, while people didn’t necessarily agree with everything Obama did, what his presidency represented for America’s social progress and the image that America imparted to the rest of the world. But now that feels like an exception to the American rule of politics, and perhaps what was always an ultra-conservative nation is now heading towards an extreme fulfillment of its form. The pendulum has swung back again and the line between cause and effect is blurry. America exists as a paradoxical nation in so many ways, and to semi-outsiders like myself, it’s always going to both dazzle and dizzy me.

15 likesI'm gonna say it here and now -- If you're a hispanic voter in the US and voted for Trump, don't bitch or moan when he deports you. If you voted for Trump because of the economy, don't bitch and complain when gas prices and food prices are even more unstable. If you're a woman who voted for Trump, don't complain when your husband beats you and there are no protections for you anymore. You chose that. If you're a gay person who voted Trump, don't be upset when you lose your job solely based on your sexual orientation because you CHOSE this. In the meantime, I might leave LB for a few weeks to better understand how to leave the US and quickly. I don't want to be here for a Trump presidency again. Oh and might I add -- if your daughter gets r*ped and is stuck giving birth to a baby she never wanted or planned to have or even gave her consent to conceive in the first place - pay her child support. You chose this for her.

15 likesIs the thought of a woman president just that appalling? So unthinkable we were willing to overlook the sexual assaults, the Epstein friendship, the hush money, the criminal convictions, the tax fraud, the money laundering violations, the attempt to overthrow the government, the constant lies and cheating, the racism, the incessant and incoherent promoting of hate and violence, all the shitty humans and hate groups he attracts. Is the price of eggs that bad? He is what America is. We just voted in Elon Musk, gave RFK control over our health, signed off on mass deportations and cages. When he adds to the Supreme Court, when we give them control of the house and senate...will we ever be able to fix this? When he eliminates the Department of Education are we just going to stay dumb?

12 likesLana's music will always hold an incredible importance to me, but I'm going to be honest, I've been struggling to listen since she married Jeremy. Knowing that he backs pure hatred and evil, and that Lana married him just disappoints me so much

12 likesThe nonsense I heard from Trump supporters at work today. And I live in a very Democratic area. I give up. I actively hope for the demise of this country. I heard it all. It's a disgrace Kamala didn't concede last night (I'm sorry, but Trump 2020, are you serious?). We're all Americans and should be unified and loving to everyone (I'm sorry, was Trump literally not weeks ago calling Democrats the evil within this country?). I literally heard one guy say that he bets Putin is really upset because Putin wanted Kamala bc he could push her around but Trump will stand up to him. This country is irredeemably gone people

12 likesIdk, I feel like this is a collective failure that covers more than just one generation or demographic. How the hell did he win the popular vote by so much? That takes millions of votes across the board. At least in 2016 you could blame the electoral college. Sorry, I just woke up and I’m not in a good mood. I was hoping it was all a drunken dream, but the America hellscape is real

12 likesi feel so helpless. it’s just like… so disappointing after the sigh of relief everyone let out in 2020 when he was voted out. political ideologies aside the man is a felon, he’s dangerous, i said i wouldn’t pass judgement on this but i can’t help it. i feel so helpless for everyone in the US who had dreams of change and hope, i feel helpless for everyone who feels scared right now of what this means for them, and their loved ones, i feel scared for what this means for the world going forward

12 likesI don't really have the luxury or privilege of being upset like, I'm used to being unheard anyway when it comes to things so in that sense I"m used to it whatever. You learn to work and live around it. But I'm already kinda over it. no emotional charge, did my duty. I'm watching diff livestreams to be objective and try to be fair and I'm seeing media outlets sorta just guffawed. economy's awful, middle class is thinning out. divided parties and not so shiny choices. I had a feeling that this power vacuum was gonna have to be filled, and I know from being working class from diff types of peers alike from all sorts of views that moreso that even democrats have been straying from the party. and we're a blue state. It'd be foolish to think that people in your circle are the only ones so I try to be more bigger view perspective on these things so unfortunately, I can't really say I'm surprised that this happened. Everyone's tired it seems. I'm not sad, well kinda, I'm not angry. emotions don't matter you just have to focus on the things you can still do. for what it's worth, I'm sorry for the ones that don't feel as safe because of this. I hope you find community and protection. I know that a lot of you might feel discouraged, but. There are still other ways to hopefully make things ok and progress our lives to be better. <3

11 likesIs this world even worth saving at this point? Like, I despise the fact that Trump’s politics will inevitably cause unprecedented damage and suffering of millions. I hate the fact people pick a president/a government/whatever who can determine if you can live freely as a woman, a person of colour, a person from the LGBTQ+ community. Everything is really fucking bleak and hopeless, and not just Trump being reelected everything in the world seems to always take a turn for the worse and despite our best efforts we can hardly do anything to change this… How can we remain in solidarity and not fall into despair at this point?
