once you reach the third-eyed-ness of being zen with waiting as a lana del rey fan your life will change for the better either that or my frontal lobe just developed

Here’s my delulu theory: there was a shift around January or February this year. Before this, she seemed to have some stripped-back, country/Americana songs ready—subdued, simpler tracks. “Henry” might be one of these. But after the shift, possibly triggered by the Grammy snub, her perspective changed. I’m holding out hope that this is where “Has Anyone Else Died For You?” came to life. The Fenway intro could also reflect this shift, with its southern gothic tone fitting the new direction. If she’s writing about being “crucified” so others can succeed, it suggests something more layered than the “simpler, Americana songs” she mentioned last year. It’s likely she now has a mix of tracks that don’t yet form a cohesive album, and she’s still working through the creative process.

I hate to be dramatic but sitting up on your high horse and choosing not to vote is not the dignified action you think it is. Elections have consequences and if you might think a Trump presidency might not affect you personally doesn’t mean the people around you won’t suffer.

honestly I think she’s so hesitant because she knows she has some of her best work and wants to do it justice. this feels like the complete opposite of the stream of consciousness voice memo vibe of Ocean Blvd and Blue Banisters. wouldn’t be surprised if she’s been sitting on some songs for a couple years. im glad she’s not rushing it this time around.

"“even if it’s super stripped back I want it to be like what it was supposed to be” translation: Even with songs that have simple, minimalist production (like my song Henry, Come on) without a big orchestra or beats, I want it to be just right. Even if it's just me and an acoustic guitar, I want to get to the place where I'm super happy with it and ready to put it out there. I hear wandering, perfectionism, not conforming. Whatever it is, we can give Lasso a good, long-ass rest. Yeehaw? More like yeenaw

Am I the only one who is not getting “secret project” from what she said? The “other good stuff going on” sounds like go listen to other artists until it’s ready. I’m really starting to believe those tough remixes were the other 2 singles.

Lana Del Rey Has Songs Ready for Country Album but Doesn't Want It to Be 'Half-Cooked': 'We'll Get There' Lana Del Rey wants fans to know she isn't rushing perfection when it comes to releasing her hotly-anticipated country album, Lasso. Speaking with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly at the 2024 Instyle Imagemaker Awards held in Los Angeles on Thursday, Oct. 24, the singer, 39, offered a brief glimpse into where her head's at as she inches closer to the release of her next body of work. "I think all the songs have been Americana and I want to wait to see what the musical atmosphere feels like," she says of Lasso. "'Cause I don't usually feel like I need a pause in the creation process, but if there's a literal energetic pause that almost feels like physical, then I have to wait and I don't know why." The "Born to Die" performer adds, "I'll have to see if it's because of something someone's done or because it's going to take a turn." Although Del Rey can't put a specific release date on the project just yet, she teases that "we'll see. But the songs I have, I love, so I don't want to turn it into something that's half cooked, even if it's super stripped back. I want it to be what it was supposed to be." As for fans patiently awaiting the album's release, all she has to say is, "They can be excited for all the other good stuff going on. We’ll get there. First things first!" Those who want a glimpse of a Americana-twanged Del Rey need to look no further than her most recent collaborative single: "Tough," which features Quavo. Backed by an emotional, country-influenced guitar riff that carries vocals discussing everything from "the scuff on a pair of old leather boots" to "blue-collar, red-dirt attitude," the music video flashes scenes of country roads, farm homes and other elements of Americana. Del Rey previously told NME earlier this year that Lasso will contain songs that have “maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on Tunnel or Blue Banisters or Chemtrails over the Country Club," describing her new songwriting as "more melodic. Maybe more American Songbook style?” Ultimately, the "Summertime Sadness" singer is aware of country music's power in the industry today. "When I gave Jack Antonoff his award for best producer of the year, I said, ‘Welcome Nashville to Hollywood and Hollywood, welcome to Nashville because the music business has gone, gone country.' And it went silent; 5000 people, dead silent," she told the outlet. "Then the next week, we had three major artists announce big country albums." Source

this is a genuine question and i have not formulated this question so bare with, but i have seen quite a large number of people saying they wont vote for kamala purely for her stance on palestine, and that they would rather not vote. i’m just curious as to how much people are basing their US election vote on the situation in another country? i’m genuinely interested to see users' thoughts on how actual domestic policy (abortion, taxes, other VERY important issues) is impacting who they are voting for. in my mind, i would rather vote for kamala based on domestic issues, get trump out, then deal with other stuff when we sort our own shite out, if that makes any sense? in an election like this, a TP vote can be (for lack of a better term) a bit of a throwaway in SOME areas (i think i don’t fully get US politics), so would a big two candidate be better to tackle the evil of trump? i feel like if the vote is split on the left, which is looking very likely, trump will unfortunately win i’m not downplaying the importance of tackling global issues, but i just want to see your thoughts on global vs dometic issues and how they change your vote/what is more important

it’s best if we collectively accept that she married this man with her free will. Acceptance is an important step in healing and this fanbase seriously needs one.

The biggest take away from this for me is that he considers Americans who go against him more evil than literal dictators, which he also took the time to compliment AGAIN. How anyone can hear him compliment Xi because he “commands a billion people with an iron fist” and not be even a little afraid is beyond me. Maga loves Trump because he tells it how it is, but the second he “tells it how it is”, no he didn’t. And if he did, it was taken out of context, and if it wasn’t taken out of context it was a joke. im sorry but 3 hours of him weaving random thoughts together isn’t being mentally sharp. Him ending a town hall and dancing and swaying around isn’t mentally sharp.

I don’t think it’ll be quite Kintsugi instrumental but realistically Americana theme + stripped back = Narwhal. I personally love that song but know a lot of people hate it oop. The chemtrails truthers will stay winning this era I can feel it

If she doesn't want her music to sound half cooked, mayhaps I suggest she'd work with someone other than the half-cooked-music man himself. Ultimately this album isn't coming out anytime soon.

People just want an excuse to not vote or to not be happy tbh. Biden has been one of the best Presidents, domestically, in a while (even Bernie Sanders admitted that much). A lot of what I see about Kamala and Palestine is performative, nonsensical, and belabored (again not trying to downplay what’s going on there, but I agree that single issue Israel-Palestine voting is dangerous).

My other post was mainly in response about the genocide since it’s big reason why they don’t want to vote for Kamala. Obviously it’s something to think about and keep in mind, but at the same time I agree there’s tons of other issues at stake in our own country. Not to say the genocide isn’t important, but I don’t think that should be the only reason someone decides to not vote. The decisions we make here impact the rest of the world so it is something to think about. I don’t want to sound selfish, but there’s many issues in the USA we need to address and prioritize. I don’t agree with Kamala’s stance in the genocide, but there’s other topics I do agree with like being pro choice. Way more views of hers I agree with vs trump’s stances so it’s an obvious pick for me. If she loses, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the reason she lost so it’s unfortunate. I see both perspectives of people on the left and wanting to make a statement but people also need to be realistic here we have two choices and need to think about our own issues in the USA. This is one of if not the most important election ever in our country so this is not the right time to vote for someone who doesn’t have a chance or choose to not vote. Especially if you’re in a swing state it is crucial, decisions trump makes can have an impact for many years in the future.

perhaps it may sound dumb/uninformed but my main reason for voting for kamala harris is reproductive/women's rights, i honestly don't know much about economy, foreign policy, immigration, stuff like that, so maybe i'm not very informed, but making sure my rights are secured as a woman is important to me, and is important for all women and girls

it's been interesting seeing a few of these politicians go on podcasts this year. Trump is a charismatic person which is a big reason he has such a loyal fanbase so going on these podcasts is a great move for him (not that he made much sense) People forget what he actually stands for and these podcasts humanize him which is concerning to me. He loves to yap and claim all these things but people forget what he would actually do as a president vs what he says he will do. I completely understand your dilemma. it's hard voting for someone you don't stand for. I think ultimately you are the only one who knows who you should vote for. I don't think most people on the left would pick Kamala if they could choose anyone to run as the Democratic Nominee. In this election & at this point, a third party is not going to win and that's just the reality. It is a Trump vs not Trump election, once again. I know a lot of people in a similar situation as you, they absolutely hate trump but also don't really like Kamala mostly due to her stances on Israel/Palestine. Since I'm in California, a lot of people don't think their votes matter since it will always end up being blue, but I still think it's important to vote on a state/local level. Kamala wouldn't be my first choice if it were up to me, but I think almost any candidate in the Democratic Party is exponentially better than Trump even if I don't really like them. I get how morally it is hard to choose between the two especially considering both of their stances on the genocide in Palestine. Since we are forced to choose between the two, I don't believe Trump would handle the genocide any better than Kamala. There's a reason Netanyahu wants Trump to win so that's important to keep in mind when voting. Ultimately, one day it would be nice to have more choices than dems vs republicans on the ballot that actually have a chance at becoming president. I do think you should vote third party, dem, or whatever just because I think local and state topics are also just as important because they directly impact you and your community. If you do vote third party, I could see how that sends a message to our country. Lots of people are fed up with the 2 party system. I just don't believe this election is the right time to do that since we have so much at stake at the moment. Our nation needs to push for these 3rd party nominees earlier in the election and by that I mean 2025-early 2027 if people want them to have any chance at winning. Pushing for 3rd party candidates months/weeks before an election is next to impossible. If I could tell any voter who doesn't know who they want to vote for this election specifically, my best advice is: think where your vote is going and where it isn't going. It's up to you at the end of the day

Didn’t you also just say that you choose not to participate because nothing will change anyway? Why do you give yourself this cop out but not to the people actually being affected by the war?

you know why Palestine has refused to have an election in decades? Because Hamas would win—and this same argument you’re using against Israel would work against Palestine as well. This is a deeply, deeply complex issue—and not one that is as simple as “Israel bad, Palestine angel”. There is definitely a power imbalance favoring Israel currently, and a ceasefire is the best outcome for everyone—but this is not a black and white issue.

This narrative of “Kamala is in office right now” is so tired because yes she is in office, but she is the vice president, which historically is basically a fluff position. You can’t name a single thing Pence did while he was vice president or what Biden did while Obama was president, but suddenly Kamala isn’t doing anything. she has 3 basic duties. 1) be the senate tie breaking vote (which she did when she passed the inflation reduction act) 2) do jobs the president delegates to her (which for her was solving the issues of why immigrants from 3 countries were coming into America, which she did work on and did fix) 3) step in if something happens to the President. There isn’t much she can do regarding what is currently happening more than she already is doing (being vocal about wanting a ceasefire and not attending events regarding Israel) which personally I think are a two very big actions.

This argument is funny to me because Trump was also president for 4 years and he also did nothing to stop Israel. The crisis in Palestine has been happening for years, it’s not something that only started last year.

Well you have Kamala who is far from perfect but has been very vocal about a ceasefire and wanting a two state solution and didn’t participate when Israel’s leader visited. or you have trump who is actively working against a ceasefire and wants to completely and totally level Palestine* I really don’t understand how people think there is no difference.

I really don't care whether or not it's maximalist or stripped down, but what I do care about's communication so. it's good that she actually mentioned the album. this waiting process is kinda annoying cus it's the bare minimum atm and I hate that, life goes on, but it's good to know that it's still a thing. I think everyone's or at least a lot of fans are kinda worried bc in Lana language that could mean anything, so I'm personally hoping she follows thru more consistently/ clearly. I'm wondering what all this time/space atmosphere talk she's talking about. how it might make her music be construed as etc. cus I feel like she should just be earnest and sincere and let it speak for itself, but I guess I personally can't be really bothered knowing she'll just randomly post things on some day.

I saw your post, I’m sorry but I don’t feel comfortable telling you explicitly how to vote. You need to vote within your own conscience.

Well , hold on. She did say for Vogue she'll drop two more songs. Who knows, maybe after the election drama is over, she might feel more light and decide to drop a little taste. Or maybe she'll drop another random single/collabs. I totally get why many are disappointed. But then, OB did only come out last year. Better a good record with a bit of a wait, then a mediocre one like BB (sorry, BB fans)

This is the least excited I have been for a Lana album ever, I’m not sure what it is…but I think if it’s just stripped back Americana it’s not gonna cut it. I want something dark, orchestral…with proper instrumentations.

I am at the point in my Lana fandom where I have to surrender and just trust Lana. Trust Lana. That means just being patient, not taking too much stock in what she says. Whenever the final product arrives I am usually pleasantly surprised. Her voice, her lyrics, the talent comes through. There may be another release before Lasso or it may never see the light of day. What ever comes I Trust Lana to deliver. Hopefully something before 2030! 😀

I hate to say it but if that’s how you feel than your overall perception of what the government is and what the government does is secretly lacking. Israel, for better or worse, IS our biggest ally in the Middle East, and no politician in America can just cut them off and announce completely ending support, like that just can’t happen, and any politician who says otherwise is full of it and doesn’t understand the implications of that. I am absolutely not in support of what Israel is doing and I think it’s horrific, and I do wish America would focus on its own problems and issues, but ending a decades long alliance would do more harm than good. It is wild to me that you have Trump saying he wants Israel to level Palestine and has actively been in talks with the Israel government (even having them at his private residence) to stop any kind of peace deals, and Kamala doing everything she can as both the sitting vice president and current candidate to show that she does support the Palestinian people, and say they’re 99.9% the same. That is dangerous thinking and quite honestly it’s very privileged thinking.
