31 likesokay so i never do song or album breakdowns basically ever but the opinions on this album are so polarising i have decided to throw my two cents in. i've listened to the album twice and i'm going to listen to the album again while writing this. i personally think this is her best album and considered NFR her best album before this.

18 likeson a different note i hate the whole intense moral superiority stance some people take with leaks. the moral/ethical issue is NOT with the people who listen (especially if they listen to the album when it's released and/or buy physical copies), it's with those who LEAKED it in the first place and spread the links around

16 likesI know hating on Jack is cool and while he's not my favorite either denying his work with Lana turns out well is far too much... They made crazy good songs together such as Venice Bitch, Norman, COTCC, The Greatest, White Dress, Mariners, and the list goes on. That being said, I would like her to change the producer for the next album too.

16 likesthank you all so much! i think there's a lot of different opinions on what the "good" and "bad" tracks are but honestly this is an extremely finely made selection of works that are all beautiful with redeeming qualities. i couldn't put them in a specific order because i think as time goes on and we digest this album opinions will definitely change. i don't know if other people relate to this, but with certain fantastic albums you just go through phases where every song is the best. i can't wait to see the critical response. i had a great feeling about NFR and i have a greater feeling about this album. i genuinely think this will be a discography staple / classic. every damn time she releases an album we think "this is it, she can't get better than this" - and she just fucking does it? mojo didn't lie when headlined the article "it's dangerous on the edges". she's somehow only ever on the up and up, i wonder at what point she's really going to fall? this completely shattered my expectations from her. she hit ranges we never knew she could hit. an instant classic.

16 likesborn to die has had its time. she was 25 when she made that record now she's 35, she's grown and mature and doesn't want to write gangsta boyfriend lolita shit with all that overproduction. we have to accept she'd rather just do stripped acoustic/ballad stuff so if you're looking for btd in present day lana you might as well just not even bother listening to her new stuff

15 likesIn all seriousness, as much as I love Lana, I've never cried with any of her songs. And that changed with this album. Even if I don't relate to the lyrics, the way she sings them... the way she tells her story, it's so touching. I might not like the entire album as a whole, but the few songs I do like have hit me like nothing has had in a long time I can't believe her power.
