not the gays trying to absolve themselves of guilt and to find a moral high ground while being completely hypocritical... no one is going to give you an "approved listening list" are y'all crazy they are ALL stolen and hacked and scammed material... stop with the mind gymnastics and decide for yourself at your own discretion if you wanna listen to something or not. what if she comes out and asks you to not listen to stolen songs from her producers/team? that crazy for you is on the next album it was stolen from her in 2020 or some shit (hypothetically since i know some of you will take it seriously...)? we gon sit and pretend like y'all didn't make 500 pages for that song and didn't beg day and night for it to be leaked? have your own ethics and values please, if lana being rightfully upset and asking us to respect her privacy and not listen to songs cause you to go unstable and come out questioning "uhh which stolen and hacked material is OK for me to listen to!" then maybe you shouldn't be listening to any of them in the first place...

According to TMZ, Pop singer Lana Del Rey’s stolen laptop and other belongings were discovered by authorities hidden inside fellow singer Demo Lovato’s SoCal home late Wednesday night. I’m sorry if this makes anyone upset! Not my intent

i feel like the discussion surrounding the morality of leaks is a bit complex, i do agree that you’ll just have to make your own decisions surrounding it, we really shouldn’t have to rely on leakers to tell us what’s okay to listen to or not because who really knows what’s coming out of this hack, and it really should be up to you, and it is true that nearly every leaked song was obtained through shady, or even illegal means, a large majority of 2007-2011 songs which leaked during 2012, 2013, and 2014 came from somebody hacking her laptop, but i doubt that people are going to stop listening to them, some songs don’t have a clear source, but that doesn’t mean they were obtained ethically or just randomly appeared out of thin air i feel like for me, i’m still going to listen to all of the unreleased songs i love, but i think i’ll stay away from things that are obviously very recent, but if something old leaks, there’s nothing that’s really going to stop me from listening to it and saving it to my collection, but at the same time, there’s no way to know for sure if a random song from 2012, 2015, 2017, whatever it may be, didn’t come from her laptop, but i doubt crazy for you and sugary sweet because we’ve known about those songs for years i feel like we’ve just gotta make our own decisions and rules, but honestly, we’re all probably a little guilty at different levels, i can’t sit around and act like i haven’t participate heavily in leak threads, or that i haven’t tried scraping the internet for new lizzy grant photos, but that’s all definitely part of the culture here, i think we should all try to re-evaluate how we go about these things and be more conscious about it

I admire her desire for a normal life, but at some point her safety should take precedence. Drivers, security, and not casually driving to the mall are all hard adjustments, especially for someone as sweet and as humble as Lana, but I think they're becoming necessary. Coupled with the break-ins, and that weird guy outside the church earlier this month, I'm really worried.

This makes me so sad. She looks like she's holding back tears when she talked about the poetry book. But her being optimistic about the situation ease me a little. I cannot fathom how her label and management let this keep happening to her.

Of course the situation is very upsetting, but I find it funny that NOW some of you realize that hacking, leaking and spreading content is wrong and hurtful to Lana? It's not even the first time Lana is vocal about it...

Assuming the album is done, it’s unlikely she is gonna scrap it. The theft happened months ago and I assume she’s continued working on it since then, and if something official was submitted that BOZ heard it was long after that happened. Sotb being a let down, the terrible stuff happening to Lana, and the album not coming as soon as we hoped convene to make a sad and dark day in Lana boards history.

Makes sense why she hasn't teased anything yet. She loves to post snippets when she's really excited about the new songs. Also this has totally killed my hype for the album. I want her to take as much time as she wants to fully get back into the right mindspace.

I think what happened is awful and I also think it is a bit careless to keep ALL of those things in the car, unattended, with no back ups or photos of the work... especially all together in one place... in MELROSE of all places, where peoples cars get broken into allllll the time, people get mugged during the holidays in daylight, and stores are broken into constantly ... her friend Jenny was ranting about her purse getting stolen at the mall a year ago in daylight idk im not saying it is her fault at all at alllll, but as shitty as it is, it is also a learning experience for us ALL, all of us ... dont leave clothes or sunglasses or anything of value, cause people are A**Holes esp with the cost of living these days... anyways my rant is over, I just can't stop thinking about this and now we will have a longer wait for art (I know this is not the main problem with what happened ) and im pissed at the thieves and I feel bad for her

Lana is such a beautiful and classy person both inside and out. The way she expressed herself yesterday with such strength and clarity while dealing with such a loss and invasion of privacy is so impressive. Then the decision to delete the reels shortly after, knowing that they would be easily accessible elsewhere online but she didn't need the negativity to remain as a part of her page is very telling of the kind of person she is. I also really loved how she said "even if what I’m left with is just my innermost thoughts, I accept that" It's such a healthy and admirable mindset that is not easy to attain and I applaud her. What a sweet angel <3

I really have no problem not listening to leaks. My heart is absolutely broken for Lana especially cus of how much resistance and how many roadblocks she's faced in her career. I think she's made it pretty clear that the music leaking is very hurtful to her, and I hate to think about how we may have contributed to that. I cannot even grasp losing an entire book on top of all of this. I think it should be pretty easy to not share leaks and spread them. I really think the one thing that should be the easiest for us is to respect the artist we all love the most, the reason why this website exists.

Regardless of opinion, I really don't think it's necessary to insult people and I think this goes a bit too far. I totally understand wanting to defend Lana and not agreeing with the way people feel about certain issues, but this doesn't feel productive at all. It's not worth it to get so worked up and hurl insults/name-call from across a computer screen over any of this. It also comes off as quite hypocritical to tell people that they sound bitter and to calm down, but then essentially go on a two page rant about the same thing while calling people names. That might just be me, though

The fact that she didn't even let Lana do the "it's coming down" part is wild to me. Like Lana is this hushed whispering in the background the whole song almost like she represents the snow, and then the outro could have been her one time to shine as the actual snow. It still wouldn't have been enough because she should've gotten a verse, but it would at least have been something and creatively made sense.

I think the misinformation came from specific countries (like the US from what I've read here) cause here in Spain the moment the first vaccine came out they made it clear that it would only stop severe disease but you could catch it and transmit it anyway... that's why no restrictions were lifted after long after everyone had their 2 vaccines and the transmission was lower. It didn't make the virus go away quicker but it saved so many lives (specially cause hospitals were not as full as they were before the vaccine and everyone could be treated).

i know you are wanting a clear answer but there's so much nuance and complexity to this sitation. there's already confusion and uncertainty around which leaks she was talking about on her videos, if her devices were stolen don't you think MOST if not ALL of her recent music was stolen? at that point, does it matter if the file actually comes from some other hack or from her laptop? those files don't exist in isolation, she probably thinks they all came from her and it is upsetting even though they may have been obtained prior to the theft and from somewhere else... again using crazy for you as an example, if it were to leak now and she was made aware of it, of course it's not for an upcoming album but she would still see that and think it's connected to the theft if she had it on her laptop or her drive(s). so how do you decide if it's ok or not to listen to it? we know it's not from the theft, we know it's not for an upcoming album, but she might believe it came from the theft and feel bad that her songs and personal files are out there... would you still feel guilty or not? there's no clear cut answer to this situation...

idk to my knowledge they've been saying the vaccine wouldn't stop the transmission completely, but stop people from dying of covid I've been aware of that since the first dose. I got covid on december of 2020 and never got covid again since getting the vaccine and 2 boosters so

I have nothing against TS but did this hoe really give Lana a roughly 10 second faded background "feature" or am I hallucinating? If I wasn't a Lana stan, I probably wouldn't be able to even notice that she's on the track. Maybe it's all apart of the snow on the beach concept, coming down but no sound all around...

I definitely don’t think this was just some random robbery to try and get money by selling her laptop; just this week whoever did it hacked into her phone and god knows what they found/took doing that. That said, and I’m not trying to victim blame at all, it’s so weird that after all this time she doesn’t have some kind of back-up somewhere random (with Ben/Ed, with Chuck, with her dad). I get why she doesn’t keep it in her house since her house keeps getting broken into, but even in an office building or something

I really don’t think she’s going to rush release the album since she said multiple times that it’s not coming yet. I really hope nobody is blackmailing her or anything like that, and whatever was stolen from her doesn’t end up leaking. This is such a mess for her and I feel so bad for her

What I don't understand is why don't her managers hire an IT expert who can properly set up her devices with disk encryption, hardware 2FA and secure backups and teach her what to look out for in regards to hacking and social engineering?
  28. 12 likes
Maybe she wanted to trigger something by posting about it yesterday? Like maybe they know they can track it if something leaks now and they are waiting for it to happen? I still think it's so weird that she's so concerned about leaks if this happened months ago and nothing surfaced... Of course I understand her being upset with the whole situation when it happened, now and any time she remembers it... it must be really infuriating and heartbreaking.

Lana stepped away from the spotlight to just be creative and live free like she’s wanted to for years and this shit keeps happening to her. It’s so awful, I feel so sad for her, I hope she can find peace and comfort after such a gross invasion of privacy edit: img I just really thought about it, like I use my notes on my phone as a personal diary, imagine if someone else had them and could share them at anytime. How stressful and vulnerable that would make you feel, I’m literally anxious rn, I’m signing up for a VPN

Not that I’m trying to start anything but do you have peer reviewed proof that the vaccines are useless? Or are you disagreeing with herd immunity? I’m a nurse epidemiologist at a respiratory clinic so I’m always curious to see some perspectives because we do get some unvaccinated people that have rough times. We see the worst of the worst

Here's a full transcription of the video I mentioned earlier, for anyone who wanted to go back and reference what she said - "So, I wanted to talk to you guys about something for a minute. A few months ago, I parked my car on Melrose Place and I stepped away for a minute, and the one time I left my backpack inside my car, someone broke all of the windows and took it, and inside of it was my computer, and my three camcorders, and my hard drives. & I had to remotely wipe the computer that had my 200-page book for Simon & Schuster, which I didn’t have backed up on a cloud because we do not have any, you know, cloud systems that we access, and despite that people are still able this week to remotely access my phone and leak our songs and personal photos. & I just want to mention that despite all of this happening, I am confident in the record to come and despite so many safety factors in so many different levels, I really want to persist and make the best art I can, and even if I have to start over with my book, which I do. You know, obviously, I won’t ever leave anything in the car again even if it’s just for a moment, but we’ve had the same issues at the house and it is a constant thing. & Although I’m so grateful to be able to share all of the good stuff, I just also want to share that it has been a challenge. & I think it’s important to say that it is a bit of a roadblock in terms of the creative process and keeping things safe and valuable and keeping me safe as well with all of the action that’s been going on around me, my home, everywhere I go. & So I don’t even think a plea for a respect of some privacy would even do anything, but I do want to be honest about the fact that I do have concerns about what’s going to be out there and the two years’ worth of videos that we have from the family and everything we were planning on turning in to. Just a small snippet of our lives over the last couple of years and whatever else may have been on there. Not exactly sure what’s gonna happen with it, but that’s just what’s been going on, and with everything leaking lately I just want to bring it to light that it’s hard and there’s really nothing to be done because I can’t really make my devices any safer. You know, however people access them is unbeknownst to me and unavoidable unless I just completely don’t have them and no one has them in terms of the songs. So, I’m hoping that nothing else, you know, becomes available or stolen. & This is just an off-the-cuff thought that I’ve had for a long time that I don’t really like to share things that are going not to plan, but you know, it’s why I’ve been private in the first place and it doesn’t really seem to have any bearing on whether or not things actually stay private, but you know, even if what I’m left with is just my innermost thoughts, I accept that, but just want to say that it is a challenge. And, um, so… Please don’t listen to the music if you hear it because it’s not coming out yet, and in terms of the book, I loved the book that I lost with all of my heart and put a lot of passion into it, and in terms of the camcorders we shall see what happens with that. So, that is an update that I would obviously normally not give, but I’m worried about it. So, you know, now that it’s like the third time that this has happened, I just wanted to address it. So, that’s that and onward and upward and, um, we’ll see. Thanks."

A lot of this discussion is why I found it so baffling when people were mad at Lana for putting unreleased songs on Blue Banisters. Those are songs that she had a right to use as she pleased, and it’s not her fault that you already heard them when they initially leaked. It wasn’t like they were old songs released years and years ago that were then put on an album, which is how I felt a lot of people were acting. I think that inclusion of those previously unreleased tracks also adds somewhat of a flaw in the “well, it’s so old and it’s never gonna get released anyways” way of thinking (that I’m not gonna act like I haven’t subscribed to) because we’ve seen that it’s not entirely impossible despite the unlikeliness. It’s a super complicated and messy topic to discuss because there’s so much nuance to it. I don’t think a good majority of Lana fans can 100% say they’re fully against leaks either without coming off as hypocritical in a sense because unreleased tracks have become a huge part of her fan communities across all different platforms

They're 100% youtube rips. Choose to believe it or not. There are several vinyl quality checking websites that commented on those 3 songs having very low quality. They are not fans or anything, they do not know why these songs are low quality. At the end, they didn't consider those 3 songs while rating the overall vinyl quality. One example: https://magicvinyldigital.net/2021/11/13/lana-del-rey-blue-banisters-review-vinyl-streaming-amazon-music-qobuz/ Here it shows 3 tracks are lower quality in streaming services and also in vinyl. "As can also be seen in the spectrograms below, tracks 12, 13 and 14 have a cutoff frequency of about 16 kHz (white arrow). This cutoff is abrupt, suggesting the use of a 32 kHz sampling frequency or a hard filter beyond 16 kHz." "*The tracks with a bandwidth limited to 16 kHz are not included in the overall score."

Oh they're Youtube rips alright. We have the lossless Cherry Blossom and it's way higher quality than the one on the album.

This definitely slowed things down but I think the album is not coming yet cause she's accounting for the pressing times... like if we're being realistic this wasn't going to come out this year anyway An album leaking 1 or 2 weeks before release is not the same situation as it leaking 3 or 4 months in advance

Exactly! In Germany it was said that you can still get Covid but less severely and that chronically ill people and elderly people would have milder symptoms. That's why it'd help to stop hospitals from overflowing as well as important surgeries from being postponed etc., and well, it did. That's a fact. It did indeed help.

I get why some of us want an « absolution », by listening to leaks that we are sure that won’t ever belong to an album… And yet, @111 is right. No leak is a legal one, and with Lana, we know her creative process isn’t linear at all: just like she decided, with BB, to include leaked tracks, we can’t be absolutely sure that what is the future of any track / hook or even demo. I do wonder though how come that site still up and running most of the time for the vast majority of you… How many artists got the site down for a while because of their latest release having leaked there and yet, it’s still up a week later…

So I watched “misery” with Kathy bates for the first time. The plot kinda reminded me of Lanas situation. A writer (who is very adamant about telling his story and writing being his art), gets stalked/kidnapped by a crazy fan who ends up destroying their work. But out of it comes a story that he writes for himself. Lanas been through a lot with people invading her space and it’s so unfair. Of course we all want music, but i was so looking forward to the poetry book. I know she can create another masterpiece, but above all I hope she’s at peace.
