9 likesIt's not about her being a woman. It's about her being infinitely removed from Trump's anti-trans, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-POC, etc. agenda. The anti-abortion thing is the only thing she's connected to and she has the wealth to avoid that if she ever needed it. It's a luxury for her to oppose Trump because her life doesn't depend on that. It's a luxury for her to marry a Trump supporter who literally wants to commit violence against transgender people because she doesn't have to live with the consequences of people like that being around. Her ideals mean nothing since it's not like she ever acted on them. For all the shit Taylor Swift gets, at least she actually opposed Trump when it mattered. Lana pretended to be a witch then married a man who loves him. I love Lana but I've had to divorce that from my personal opinion of her as a person. And no celebrity is above critique.

regardless... i doubt that she would have anything negative or discriminatory to say about that, assuming that just seems odd to me, especially when we don't know with certainty that the song's even about ethel cain in the first place this is the same woman who made a post celebrating the life of goddess bunny, a transgender drag queen, when she passed away, i don't think it makes any sense or is even appropriate to assume she's transphobic and would go as far as saying something like that in a song, especially when she knows that all of her stuff leaks -

7 likesi think it counts AKA as her first studio album (and born to die as first major label), making ocean blvd 9th but i think paradise is an EP that should’ve been an album and we are all free to consider an album and i consider it as such
-
6 likesI say yes! I see lots of people arguing about this for some reason? And I just wanted your opinions. Lana’s Spotify description (before it was changed to blank) stated that Born To Die was her debut album (which I agree with) and Ocean Blvd’s album cover states that it is Lana’s 9th album. Therefore, since BTD is her debut, Paradise would have to be considered an album to make up the 9, no? 1. BTD 2. Paradise 3. UV 4. HM 5. LFL 6. NFR 7. COTCC 8. BB 9. Ocean Blvd (and 10 obviously TRPWS) Not only that but it’s listed as an album on Spotify and it does qualify as an album not an EP. I personally believe that Paradise is a separate album! Now I’ve tried to have this conversation with people before but they were always on the defensive for some reason and I was hoping to have a decent normal person conversation with people about this topic.

6 likesI think this is an EP if we consider the 2012 standards (released a year after the first album, 8-9 songs; it was an easy way to make more money and packaging it with the first one before having a second album. Gaga did the same with Monster). But by today’s standards, it would be an album. Paradise has its own sound, it’s not a mixtape with lots of collabs or instrumental tracks and the songs provide a cohesive landscape. Interscope now counts it as the second Lana album. in the end though, it’s not that important I think
-
6 likesI see Paradise as an EP but a completely separate project from BTD with its own vibe, era, tour, etc. Honestly it is anything but an extension/deluxe edition of BTD.
-
6 likesI've always seen it as an EP, since it was also released as one. But whenever someone says "Paradise is my favourite album" i don't try to correct them, because why would you be that bothered Albums, releases, bodies of work, its all the same to me for the most part.
-
6 likesIt is a separate project. Though I still view it as an EP rather than an album. Lana said in 2012 interviews that it’s a separate body of work (than BTD), and the EP has a separate tour, era etc. Kinda bothered me when people merged paradise as a part of BTD Plus… paradise is 100000x better than BTD…

5 likesMany people (including me) have been talking about DYKTTATUOB as 'Ocean Blvd' but I think that Lana would've wanted for us to call it 'Tunnel' and here's why: So in the title track of the album, she says "Don't forget me like the tunnel under ocean blvd" which is a metaphor for her career. And she also asks "Did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean blvd?" which signifies as that the person she's talking to already knows what Ocean Blvd is but may be unaware that there's a tunnel under it. Therefore, people KNOW Ocean Blvd, but most people don't know about the tunnel. So let's say that the tunnel is her career. And the fact that many (including me) have been calling it 'Ocean Blvd' while we should've been calling it 'Tunnel' since Tunnel is the forgotten part, so we have forgot about the Tunnel, and we only focus on the most well-known part: The Ocean Blvd. I just read this out loud and realized that I made no sense

5 likesI'm so done with all the EP/Album discussion, people are so nitpicky about it, especially with Ethel Cain's new release. It's come to the point where there's more discussion about "why is this an EP it's 90 minutes" than the actual music itself. I don't see why it matters, it's just a technical thing, a decision made by the artist or the label. It's like bickering over the packaging of a salad, I don't care about the box just lemme eat my fucking salad

5 likesI also think paradise is an album for the most part. More like a double album to born to die (wish it got 1 more song tbh)

4 likesThe right answer is that it's a project
-
4 likesLana does, I think she said that. To be honest, I think like most people, I count Violet audiobook as a side project. If she released the unreleased album or cover album, I would count it as a side project as well.
-
4 likesnot counting it as an album is selling it short. it is it’s own body of work and everything about it is stunning. it’s far longer and more involved than most artists ep's, and the amount of effort that went into the (as lana likes to put it) 'world building' is not lost on me it is it’s own album BTD PARADISE UV HM ETC..

4 likesThe Truth is we ignore a lot of stuff about Lana that is negative because cognitive dissonance is easier than facing potential truths over an artist we love, Lana does bad things and makes poor decisions just like anyone else. We turn a blind eye to some things because we love her music and she still has a lot of good in her that outweighs the bad.
