All credit to @cartoon eyes for somehow identifying the album that was on lizzigrant.com in 2005 and sharing the info with me. The Ordinary – Don't Let Me Die A Waiter I grabbed a copy on eBay dirt cheap and was lowkey hoping to hear some Lana backing vocals or some lyrics that made me think But no... There is one interesting thing about it though. The bassist for the band was none other than... Josh Kemp! The World of Warcraft addict who inspired universally lauded Song of The Decade Video Games This is interesting as it suggests his and Lana's relationship goes back further than originally thought. Here's an article I found on the singer of the band who, surprisingly, is British and from Liverpool??? https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/nyc-gig-scouser-lennon-tribute-3550414 I ripped the CD for any interested in listening as there's no audio available online. The album is from 2004. Listen at your own discretion the songs are pretty unremarkable but it's a cool insight into her very early musical inspirations nonetheless https://dbree.org/v/20558c

she's actually endorsing NFT as a critique of capitalism and how celebrities will sell their soul for money at the expense of the environment...just like how she made sure Good Ones flopped as a statement on pop music...mind of a mastermind

Josh Kemp as a bassist; recall these lyrics from “Joshy & I” — when you play the bass, I get this feeling….

We know she has bombastic songs with Jack, we know of a potential Kali Uchis collab, and we know she basically did an album of songs like thunder and California with TLSP… where the bops sis

we’re allowed to criticise her on a forum tho…….bullying charli directly under her tweets is very different to discussing her actions on a fan site. charli keeping it ‘on the low’ is even worse than announcing it, like she knows it’s wrong or something. it isn’t the end of the world though, idk i’m gonna stop talking about it now.

NFTs are bad for the environment, disappointed but not surprised by rich celebrities doing stupid rich celebrity shit for more money at the extent of others lol

i agree i do think people have been generally hard on her this era… until the nft concert and that was kinda the moment where i kinda agree with the heightened criticism like there’s other ways to raise money for touring besides essentially screwing over the earth and peoples future lives

can y’all just shut the fuck up and be happy we’re getting music videos anyways don’t expect Grimes quality videos but like New Shapes, Good Ones and Beg For You are definitely not low budget just looking at camera gear alone

does this fuel the theory that "k" is actually just josh kemp? i've theorized that lana's & k's relationship took place in 2005, possibly mid-2005, considering the difference between young like me (introspective, yet positive & light-hearted) & from the end (features a lot of the melancholic tracks which were later included on sirens) also, for k, pt. 2 reveals that "k" is a musician, also... "the way your hair come down, it make you look older" just something to think about...

it’s… a snippet. And you can clearly see they used a high budget camera with a great lens (coming from a cinematographer btw)

Josh being in a band could definitely add to some certain Lanalysis theories that people have But more importantly, I actually really like this album. It's gonna be one I go back to for sure

idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i'd love for LDR9 to be a loungey, jazzy, slightly sleazy Ultraviolence-meets-AKA-meets-Tranquillity Base Hotel and Casino by Arctic Monkeys-meets-my imagination type record. an album on the sonic vibe of Trash Magic, Sad Girl, Kill Kill, For K Part 2, Heavy Hitter, Pin Up Galore....... that's my dream

The only collabs I think could be nice for the next album would be FJM or that song she sang with Nikki recently (which, I know, might be an unpopular opinion but the song sounded really good tbh)

nfts ruin the environment. most nfts steal dead artists work for profit. there's no justification in doing one, buying one, or endorsing them. shut the hell up and eat a fucking vegetable fuel your brain you dimly lit goober

Just in case for whatever reason pics of the album go missing - I took these from an ebay listing for ~$9.47 USD + shipping https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Ordinary-CD-Dont-let-me-die-a-waiter-Fast-Free-P-P-/334052909610?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

This is just simply not true. Cars are ESSENTIAL. Cities are built around cars, and public transportation is not available everywhere. Cars and phones have become staples in modern society. NFTs have only recently been introduced and we do not depend on them. It’s not cherry-picking to call people out for doing NFTs when there are other ways to make money. Cars and phones have been in production for decades and people can’t stop that, but NFTs basically just started. It’s easier to try to stop something that’s in its early stages. It is a false equivalence. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but most of us still have to live in a capitalist society. People don’t have a choice to use phones and cars - their jobs and livelihoods depend on them. NFTs are a choice.

Lol we want her to succeed, but she doesn’t need NFTs to succeed. Also, we live in a world where we practically need phones and cars to survive. Those are necessities, but NFTs are not a necessity. This is a huge false equivalence.

charli endorsing nfts TWICE now and being embarrassing on twitter about it… the angels are going through it. LEAK I’M DONE AS COMPENSATION

the delusion in here wanting Lana to work with all these random people she probably has no idea exists is killing me

you people are literally insane what good do you think yelling at her about this is going to do... yes NFTs are bad for the environment so is literally everything else about capitalist culture. nobody attacks you for driving a car or using a phone. charli didn't like invent NFTs, she's not some major investor, she didn't even announce this promotional performance as far as i'm aware it was obviously being kept on the low. is harassing her off of social media during her album campaign really the hill you all want to die on? this hostility is so misplaced, if you're that mad about it go protest a pipeline or read some lenin or something. her fans say they want her to succeed then try to cancel her over dumb shit like this

Idk why fans still act surprised when rich people get into NFT culture. There's a pop girl releasing a new collection every day at this point

She seems like a relatively normal person, a bit contradictory but otherwise nothing out of the usual, I think the hate is directed to the music tbh. She’s always relatively nice to her fans. I think the hate is really unjustified tbh

Where did she make it clear she funds videos herself? She has funds off Atlantic for starters to promote her singles and is a multimillionaire, spare me the tears-you can produce a decent video for less than “1000”. You cannot compare two instances with different multitudes and opportunities, Charli as a millionaire does not have to use NFTs-the vast majority of people still use mobile devices for work or risk unemployment being born into a western/other societies or facing exclusion.

That's so interesting. I knew her and Josh's history went back pretty far because we have that one picture of them where Lana's in the pink shirt, but I never knew he had a band. I'll have to check it out

Also capitalist exploitation of workers/cheap labour damaging environment for NFTs

She’s supporting it and has many other means of paying for her work, it is absolutely unnecessary-this isn’t the equivalent of eating one McDonald’s happy meal.

« no more piano flops » is the new « Ditch Jack » although I usually end up loving her piano songs, I hope she switches things up a bit for LDR9 into something less quiet.

NFTs are bought and sold with cryptocurrency. The mining of crypto is HORRIBLE for the environment.

I've been on lanaboards long enough to know that we are absolutely believe it is coming March 2nd, hype ourselves up for it, wait for it, grow impatient when it doesn't come out, get mad at Lana for not telling us (despite her never announcing an album on that date), threaten to unstan, become convinced its actually coming on a different day, and repeat forever and ever

period not a cinematographer but i am a photographer so i’m at least familiar with cameras and equipment and stuff and they’re definitely shooting in great quality and charli’s videos have always been edited very well so i have no doubt that she’s not gonna serve us excellence

I feel like I’d be too awkward to actually ask anything, but here are some questions I think would be cool to know the answers to: -“Is there a genre of music you’ve always wanted to try on a record but never have?” -“How do you decide when an album is finished and ready to be shared?” -“Is Mike Dean involved in your next record?” -“Did you expect more experimental songs like Dealer and White Dress to have such a positive reception among critics and fans?” -“Does the ‘DNC’ on your jacket mean anything?”
