Depends what someone’s definition of privacy is. 100% privacy is impossible. But social media is probably the number 1 source of exposure we have to think about. We do leave lots of crumb trails behind even if we don’t want to. The Netflix series You season 1 was genius in that regard : the way Joe is able to piece together pretty much all of Gwen’s life by simply looking at what is out there made me rethink a thing or two about what we post online. I do have a couple of social media apps and I don’t post a lot about myself, but I sometimes wonder if it’s really such a « plus » in my life anymore. As a celebrity, I can’t imagine how hell it could be. The bigots of this world are now screaming louder than before, borderline harassing celebs. I can’t imagine living this daily

tbh I think this is as good as it gets for Lana, she obviously doesn't want to "hide" in LA and she has the right to go anywhere she pleases. At least she's not posting on social media 24/7 and that really helps. As a celebrity you get used to ppl taking pictures of you all the time, I don't think Lana cares that much. She always speaks to the paparazzi when something they do bothers her, like when they take pics of a license plate and stuff.

I agree, in Los Angeles there's many gated communities and country clubs to escape the paparazzi and maintain somewhat normality. The infrastructure is built so celebrities can have that privacy, in Louisiana + other regions surrounding the area that's understandably not the case because not many celebrities hang around there, and as a result the paparazzi and locals have been quite invasive. I mean, Lana couldn't even go antique shopping without them posting the CCTV footage without her consent. In Los Angeles, that wouldn't happen but she’s happy in Louisiana so I'm wishing her the best! Hopefully they find a way around the constant media frenzy.

Like, this fandom has such a reputation for pretentious, airy fairy rhetoric that comes across as a poor Lana dialect impression… Being a fan of Lana has given these people such a false sense of intellect and I see it across all sides of the internet where Lana fans are present. ‘The disregard is palpable. I think it’s a very delicate yet important thing to discuss. Some people claim fame was her own choice and she needs to deal with the consequences, but I honestly don’t think celebrities should lose their space and privacy just because they’re “public people” now. They’re still human and it’s not like they turn into this magical being once they become known, I think a lot of people still see celebrities as untouchable and unreachable and that’s a completely distorted perception of them that’s even harmful, not only for them but for fans, admirers and even the media who expect them to behave according to our morals and expectations. Also, there’s a difference between being photographed by fans/paparazzi when she’s aware that they’re taking pictures of her and when she’s being stalked and have no clue that they’re watching her. When paparazzi are cool, she even poses for them, interacts with them, gifts them, and being a paparazzi is like any other job, but some do it respectfully (Jody for example, Lana adoooores her) and others do not and she doesn’t like them, rightfully. And of course paparazzi in LA/NY are more used to seeing celebrities than the ones on Louisiana, but they’re all adults and should have a bit more responsibility when it comes to the people they’re getting stuff from. I personally do not agree with Jeremy’s political views and insights on minorities and other subjects, but right now I’m focusing on the fact that they’re being stalked and harassed when they just got married and want to enjoy their new life a little bit - and let’s not mention how they literally had drones recording their private wedding that wasn’t officially shared with the public by them yet. It was their moment and we found out through leaked TMZ drone footage which was… weird… Anyway, yesterday I left a comment under the CCTV images thread here but apparently it’s been deleted. Just wanted to leave this here because Lana liked my comment on Instagram about the topic and she’s been constantly expressing how upset she’s been with everything that has been going on. I think we should respect their space and don’t support whoever is sharing/selling these images even though it’s always exciting to see new pictures of her.

This is something I've felt for a while but never found the chance to put my thoughts into words. I don't think today's world allows for much privacy, if any at all. This is because, regardless of access to cameras and more surveillance in public areas, we have grown to be accustomed to invasive practices. There are cameras in everybody's pockets, and yes while we have the power to not use them, it is much more accepted to capture moments of weakness, vulnerability or privacy rather than not. Things such as parties, relationships and events have changed dynamically greatly since the spreading of smartphones and technology, and this constant lingering thought of being 'captured' and the speed with which people can be informed of your behaviour and antics is now just an accepted part of life in 2024. Technology and its widespread accessibility has conditioned us as a society to not see an issue with capturing every single moment, every single person and every single place. Because of this, I think that the damage is almost definitely irreversible. I've kind of gone on a tangent, because like I said I've been thinking about the concept of privacy in the modern day a lot lately, but the example of parties is widely spoken about across social media at the moment (at least on my for you pages lol) as older generations talk about how the parties of their day were much more wild and expressive because they were able to be more 'sleazy' and personal due to the lack of technology and social media. Such events don't feel 'private' anymore, even if they are on a technical level, because the world is in our pockets. I think this is indicative of a lot of people my age in my social circle rejecting phones and social media, including myself. It's too instantaneous and invasive. In regards to Lana, if this is how the general public feels I can't imagine how celebrities feel. Information is so easily accessed, so quickly spread and reported on, and paparazzi etcetera have an unhinged amount of entry points and history to sleuth that is unprecedented. Of course the life of a celebrity has never been as private as that of a non-famous person, but today there seems to be little to no privacy at all outside of what is spoken behind closed doors. So yeah, that's my exhaustive two cents

if you're not famous, to a degree you can remain pretty private. I think it depends on your definition of privacy. in today's age, it's almost impossible to remain completely private with phones and technology unless you live completely off the grid. as far as famous people, I don't think it's really possible to be private. even if they have social media or whatever private, there will always be people taking pics of them and others sharing rumors stories/talking about them online. I guess it also depends on what you consider to be private and the level of fame someone is. Yes losing privacy comes with being famous, but also people need to learn how to respect boundaries.

I'd love to add to this conversation that back in June of 2023 Lana went to Sweny's pharmacy in Dublin and left a note signed Elizabeth, I think when Lana's signing things like autographs etc she uses her 'work' name, but out and about casually she probably grabs her coffee signed Lizzy, or signs a receipt with her legal name as such. It makes sense after all, it separates her personal life from her work life. Just my theory, all speculation! only she actually knows x

No doubt about it. I just hope Lana sees it that way. I also think Lana doesn't "play the game" all that well. Probably not kissing enough asses behind the scenes, not attending enough parties, and not sucking, well, enough.... Also, she's not the one to sit on the talk show couches like Taylor, Gaga, and the others. She's a bit of a recluse, and does her own thing. A dark horse if there ever was one. The funny thing is: she's got the sales and streaming numbers. Like, she's right up there with Taylor, Billie, Gaga and the other pop girlies. She's been in the game for 10 years. She's proved herself. Her albums are among the most critically acclaimed (unlike Katy Perry and others). So, they really should put their jealousy aside and pay her her dues.

I’m going to remove this thread in a moment since people have been concerned this originated from CCTV footage and fans are now harassing the business - but it was originally reposted by the store of an employee who said their coworker “snapped a pic” of Lana in the store implying it may have just been an across-the-store phone capture. (The post has since been removed by them.) Either way, I wouldn’t want this thread to continue backlash on the store, since it seems like they were just excited she stopped into their small business and didn’t think about how the photo would be received. (& interesting note, they also said she had come from breakfast at a restaurant a few doors down, so she did fulfill her dream of having breakfast with the people of Kentucky lol x)

I think it’s sweet that earlier this year in May, presumably soon after her and Jeremy started dating, she stated that she wanted to visit McCreary county.. and now they’re honeymooning there! I have a friend who is from Corbin, KY which is about 45 minutes from Whitley City where Lana was tonight (I actually went to Corbin back in July to see him for the first time in a few years as I used to visit Cumberland Falls State Park there with him and some other friends during some summers) and I texted him asking if he was familiar with Dairy Bar. He said he used to love going there for their milkshakes growing up and still stops by for one every now and then and was there a few months ago. He finds it very cool that she’s visiting such a small town! Can’t wait to see where else she stops by during her visit there. If she’s there for awhile, she may be able to catch the beautiful Moonbow at CF from the 15th-19th.. it’s one of the few places in the world where you can see one, and as someone who has caught it before, it really is a gorgeous sight x
